Sunday, December 31, 1961

Sunny, not to cold.

I read paper in bed then I got up & made a jello Shrimp Salad for dinner.

Jerry - Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & Ray came home & took Dale & Jackie to Sunday School. They all looked so nice in their new Xmas cloths.

I played Salataire. Kids came home & Ray went over to Smalls for the afternoon with Dickie in our Pick-up.

We ate & Jerry went to Korths to see about the fireside tonite. Watched a programe with Tabanacle quire.

Ray & Dickie came & went to Church with us. Jerry brought us home & took Ray & Dickie & his cousin over to Yorgensens to a Special New Years Eve fireside to last until 1:30 A.M. He went to Stake M-Men & Gleaner Fireside at church. Kids went to bed at 10: & I made icebox rolls & got my books up & wrote letters & watched T.V.

Saturday, December 30, 1961

took Down Xmas tree.

Sunny & not too cold.

Jerry went to work before I woke up. I got Ray up & he went to work then I washed some cloths and iorned all day. I finally got it all done even the ones I washed today, First time since I worked in the corn.

Dean & Dale cleaned their drawers & bedroom and swept walks, when Jerry came home at 12:30 we had some lunch and Jerry took Dean & Dale up to Show & droped them off & got a few groc.

I went up & picked Dean & Dale up at 6: and we ate, Jerry got supper.

Ray came home from work and scrubbed & cleaned front room & Kitchen. Dean & Dale did dishes.

Jerry & Ray went to Stake New Years dance. Kids went to bed & I watched T.V. until it went off the air. Kids got home at midnite. Relief Society teachers came.

Friday, December 29, 1961

Ivard went over to Gails for week End. Gail & Gene were over.

I took Jerry to work all day.

I washed some cloths & put a roast on & made some Jello Salad for supper.

Gail & Gene came & we played Clue. Gail had been to Caldwell takeing Civil Service Test. They went home about 4: and Ivard went with them to stay until Monday.

I went & got Jerry from work & we ate & Jerry went out to see Lenord Hennis and Ray went to Play practice.

I watched T.V. until it went off the air.

We went over to Gails

Jerry got up & went to work. We laid in bed awhile & read paper. Ray went to work today for 2 hrs. then went up to church all afternoon to dance for Kids.

I fixed breakfast & washed some cloths & after lunch Ivard & I went up & traded Jerry the Pick-up for the car & we went over to Adrian to see how Gail & them were, they feel a little better. Ivard wanted to go to ball game & I wouldn't so we came home at 6:30, he never spoke all the way. We got home at 7:30 & played games & watched T.V.

Dean had fixed supper & they had eaten

Jerry went to party.

cloudy all day

I got up & took Jerry to work.

I made waffles for breakfast.

Ray left at 10: for church where his sunday school class met to go to Idaho City & Spend the day sleigh rideing, he got home at 4:30. He didn't have to work today.

At 1: Ivard, Dean, Dale, Jackie & I went up town & exchanged Dales coat & pants for bigger ones & I signed up for unemployment then we went to Boise & exchanged Dales house slippers, got Deans money back. Had hamberger & Shake & came back to Nampa & went to 3rd Store before we found Dean some slippers, got groc. & picked Jerry up at work & came home & Jerry went to 5 Stake dance. Jerry came home at lunch time & we had icecream.

We watched T.V. & played games.

Jerry & Ray went to work all day. I washed 3 batches of cloths & put away one I washed yesterday cleaned my bed room & got my new electric blanket on my bed.

I fixed supper and we ate when Jerry came home.

Ivard & Ray left at 6:30 for Caldwell & Ray played church ball. They beat Homedale.

Dean & Dale did dishes & Jerry & I played games with Kids.

Ivard & Ray came at 9: & little Kids & Jerry went to bed & we watched T.V. until it went off the air.

Monday, December 25, 1961

Went to Gails for Xmas dinner

Sunny warm day.

Kids got up at 5:30 so we got up & opened presents. We really had a wonderful Xmas and Ivard out of work. Jerry & Ray really went all out.

I cooked bacon & eggs & we had breakfast & Ivard & all the Kids went back to bed. I got house all cleaned up & washed some cloths & Ray & Dean did dishes then at noon Gene took Jerry - Ray - Dean & Dale & Jackie & went to Kotters a few min. then they headed for Adrian, to Gails. Ivard & I left a little later & met them at Wilder. We played games & opened presents then had a big Turkey dinner. We visited while Jerry & Ray did dishes. Gail, Lynda & all 3 Kids were so sick they could hardly sit up, flue, Gene drove them over to hospital & they all had shot. We came home at 8:

We read paper in bed. Jerry - Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & Sunday school, Ray came home & got Ivard, Dale, Jackie & I & we went to Sunday school Xmas programe. Came home & I got dinner while Jerry - Ray & Dean went to Stake priesthood meeting. We ate when they got home at 4: & they did dishes.

We wrapped a few presents.

Jerry & Ray went to church early & Ivard & I & little Kids went at 7:15. A short Xmas programe by choir. We were home by 8:45 & got Kids to bed & Ivard & I wrapped rest of our presents. Jerry & Ray came at 9: & Gene came from Adrian about 10: We all played Santa. It was midnite when we got to bed.

Ivard & Jackie got home from Adrian

Jerry & Ray went to work. Jerry got home about 1: then picked up their laways.

I washed beds & cloths all day & iorned nearly all day.

Ivard got home about noon.

Dean cleaned his & my bed room & bath room & front room.

We ate supper & Jerry went to Boise to show with a couple in ward & a girl from California.

Ray went up to ward & washed dishes at Madison's wedding he earned $5. got home at 11:30 He got $5. Xmas present from his boss. I wraped presents from supper until 11: then Ivard helped me make our bed & we watched T.V. We didn't go to Wedding.

Friday, December 22, 1961

relief society brought us a big Xmas box - Turkey - candy - nuts - oranges -apples. Ivard & Jackie went to Nyssa & stayed all nite.

Sunny - nice day

I pulled & pushed Ivard up & down the street in pick-up until he finally got it started, batter dead & gears kept locking, and him & Jackie left for Nyssa at 11: A.M. He called at 7: & said they were going to stay all nite, they had a flat tire.

I washed 3 batches of cloths & made 3 big carrot puddings then went to Caldwell & paid our personal taxes. Got my laway out & had it gift wrapped. pd. last years water taxes.

Came home & cooked supper & took Ray to work then I went & got Jerry.

I baked 7 dz. icebox cookies.

Took a pudding & bottle of jam over to Lenz's.

Jerry got $50. bonus at work.

Ivard called & said they had a flat tire as they were leaving so they stayed at Gails all nite.

Me & Kids went to Ward Xmas Party. Jerry stayed home.

got letter from Kay

I spent all morning makeing a batch of icebox cookies & a batch of ginger snaps & washed 2 batches of clothes.

This afternoon I went to bank & paid some bills & did a little Xmas shopping. Came home & took Jackie to Primary & came home & took Ray to work. Went after Kids at 5: & then at 6: went after Jerry.

Kids ate soup & Ivard, Jerry & I went up to church to Mutual officers Party. nice supper & gift exchange. Bishop Perry brought us home & Jerry went to Stake Mutual Party, he got home at 12:30. I was watching T.V. Ivard went to bed early.

Got Xmas card from Kay

rained - warmer - windy

I don't feel very good. Jerry took Ray to Seminary & I took Jerry to work. I washed a couple batches & spent all morning makeing Jackie doll sheets & pillow cases & a set of pillows & cases for Debbie & Melissa for Xmas.

Ivard had a nap while Jackie & I went to dance lesson & then I went & signed for unemployment & we went & bought a hanky for Jackies dance teacher. Came home & Ivard & I went over to see Mrs. Lenz, her husband died last nite. Came home at 6: & Ivard, Dale, Jackie & I went & got Jerry from work & we ate & Jerry went Shopping with a boy they were getteing Xmas for, Stake M Men, then to a Party.

I took Ray to work after school & he came home at 11: with Jerry. He'd been to Party too. He stayed home from 2 classes this morning to work at Thorns & get hair cut. Ivard & I played Scrabble till 11:30.

Tuesday, December 19, 1961

Stella called. Got Xmas card and gift Subc. to Deseret News from Kay & Claudia.

Warmer today. Jerry took Ray to Seminary & I took him to work.

Rained hard all morning & aft.

Wally Bryson came & bought our last cow, $125. I got busy & was to late to go to relief Society. I was writeing letters in Xmas cards & getting checks ready to mail.

Ivard & I played Scrabble. I don't feel very good.

Ivard, Jackie & I went to Bank & Paid bills & went & got feed & got our 1st $25. payment from Carl Jensen for cows. Got stamps & mailed cards.

Came home & took Ray to work. Made a chicken pie for supper. Went after Jerry but missed him. went after Ray & he wasn't ready.

We ate & Jerry went & got Alice Gould & they went to Boise to Nampa Paint & Glass Store Party. Ray went to play ball, they won.

Monday, December 18, 1961

Gail & Lynda came & took Debbie home. Bishopric (3) came & ask me to be Sunday School T. I said yes. nicer & warmer.

Jerry took Ray to Seminary & he went to work.

I washed some cloths & made a batch of bread but yeast wasn't very good, didn't raise much.

Gail came about 11: & we visited & played Scrabble. They left for home at 3: & took Debbie.

Ray went to work after school. I made a mattress & pr. pillows for Jackies Xmas doll bed this morning.

I fixed supper & we ate when Jerry & Ray got home then they took Dean & went to Mutual.

We played Scrabble & I watched T.V. until it went off the air. Ivard went to bed at 10:

Kids got home at 10:30 & Ray half hr later, when I called him from Alices.

My 27th Wedding Anniversary. Ivard gave me a nice card. I forgot.

Jerry - Ray - & Dean went to Priesthood & Sunday School & Ray came home & took Debbie, Dale & Jackie to Sunday school. I read paper & made a curtain for front door & got it & new blind up.

Fixed dinner & we ate when Kids got home. Jerry didn't have time, he had to go to Stake meeting then he went messing up to Alice's until dark, came home sick & he didn't go to church. All the rest of us went, first time Ivard has been out to church. Came home & cows were out & we had to chase them up to Dustys to get them in.

Gail didn't come after Debbie.

Saturday, December 16, 1961

Donna Winters called from American Fork. Sent Lyles Xmas Sent Kay letter. Got letter from Lyle.

Jerry went to work until noon & I washed cloths & iorned till he got home then Jerry Dean & I went up town & changed Deans boots & got him some shoes for Xmas. Got a blind & curtain rods for front door. Jerry bought the candy & nuts for Xmas & a ham roast. We mailed cards & Lyles pkg.

Mrs. Yorgenson brought us 2 big boxes of groc. from Welfare & sack of potatoes.

Ray went to work all day, came home at noon & cut tree off & fixed it. Came at 5: & went up to church. Jerry got us a hamberger & we came home at 4: & Jerry & Dean went up to church to decorate Xmas trees. Ray came home at 4:30 & went up too. We ate without them. They came home about 9: & decorated our tree.

Ray & Dean went Ward teaching after comeing from church decorating.

Got letter from Mother

sent her a letter

I took Jerry to work, and worked on my books & wrote Mother while Ivard Jackie & Debbie wrapped Xmas presents.

It snowed all morning & hard all afternoon.

I went up town & got a few things, went to bank & paid bills then I went to Caldwell to Gold Strke & Green Stamp Centers & got a few things then Put my dimes in bank & put $10. in Kays Savings for his Xmas. I got home at 2: & it was snowing hard & all the cows were gone, clear up by 12th Ave. I called Ray to come home but time he got here at 3: Ivard & I had them in so I took Ray to work.

Ivard & I went & got Jerry & we came home & ate & Jerry & Dean went up to Alice's awhile. I spent all evening getting Xmas cards ready. We watched T.V. & Ivard & I played Scrabble at 11:

We went to Gails - brought Debbie home.

I took Jerry to work then I washed the curtains in front room & iorned them & got them up. Iorned a few things.

Ray stayed home from school today sick.

At noon Ivard, Jackie and I went over to Simplots & got my check then we went over to Gails. We played a game of Penochle. went to Adrian & got a few groc. while Ivard went up to high School & saw Gene.

We got home in time to get Jerry to work. I got some meat at Safeway.

We brought Debbie home until Sunday.

Ray went to work & came home & went to bed.

Jerry went to Sunday school Xmas Party at church.

Snowed. Jerry took Ray to Seminary and I took Jerry to work. Ivard & I played Scrabble.

At 1: I took Jackie to her dance lesson then we went & I signed for unemployment & we got groc. Came home at 3:30.

At 5:30 I took Ivard up to get his hair cut & while he did I went & bought a corn popper for Gail for Xmas. We went & met Jerry at 6: and came home and we ate Supper.

Ray came from school & went to work. He went to a party for Bishop Madison. Jerry took him to go with Kurt on his way to M-Men Gleaner Party at our ward. watched T.V.

Jerry took Ray to Seminary then I took Jerry to work and wrote a letter to Ruth & mailed in her birthday card.

At 11: I took Ivard up to Dr, he's doing fine. I brought Ivard home at 11:40, Jackie & I got groc. while he was in Dr. I went to relief Society Xmas party at 11:45. We had a good Turkey dinner & lots of good salads & plum pudding. I left at 1:30 & went up town & bought a few Xmas things & got Ivard prescription & brought home then I went back up town & shopped until Jerry got off work then we went shopping awhile, got groc. & came home & ate.

Jerry went back to Store at 8: for meeting.

Ray went to Kuna & they won, beat Caldwell 2nd.

got letter from Bill & Jean & $75.

Kids had gone to school & Jerry to work before I woke up. I fixed Ivard & Jackie breakfast & spent all morning writeing to Louie.

I feel awful & Ivard's stomache hurts too. Mrs. Yorgason came. Got a Xmas card from Bill & Jean & a letter from each of them & $75.

I fixed lunch and Ivard & I played 2 games Scrabble.

Kids came home from school & Ray went to work at Thorn Printing.

We had warmed up left overs for supper when Kids got home then Jerry - Ray and Dean went to Mutual.

I read paper in bed and got up after Jerry - Ray & Dean left for priesthood. Jerry had a roast on & I made jello salad & cooked dinner & we made a angle food cake& had peach short cake. Ray came home & got Dale & Jackie for sunday school. Ivard & I played 2 games Scrabble. Kids came at 2: & we ate dinner. Jerry & Ray took off for Xmas tree all afternoon. Dale had 2 boy friends come & I crocheted & we watched "Wizzard of OZ."

Jerry - Ray - Dean & Dale went to church & we watched T.V. Dean & Dale came home with Max Barlow & Jerry & Ray went to fireside.

We got laid off for a whole month. I came home from work & went to bed until noon but about froze to death. Jerry worked until noon but Ray didn't have to go today.

I washed cloths all afternoon. Ray moved everything around and scrubbed & waxed and decorated the mantle for Xmas.

Jerry & I went to store & came home & had supper.

I stayed up & watched T.V. until it went off the air.

Dean went to Garners to Xmas priesthood party.

Jerry went away - Ray made a centerpiece for table.

Cold - roads didn't even clear off of snow.

I came home from work and read paper & went to bed at 10: I never got home until 9: roads were so slick.

I got up at noon & fixed Ivard & Jackie lunch then I took Jackie to bed with me for a nap. Ray woke me up at 4:30 & I got up & took him to work then I had to go up & pay car Ins. they'd made a mistake on. I came home & cooked supper & we ate at 6:30, after Ray & Jerry got home.

Ray went to play practice and Jerry went to work on church paper.

I went to bed until time to go to work.

Got letter from Kay

Snowed 3 in.

I came home from work so tired. I washed a batch of cloths and went to bed at 9: I never knew a thing until Ray woke me up at 4: to take him to work. There was 3 in. of snow on ground.

I took Ray to work & Jackie to Primary then I swept walks until Dean came & he finished them & did his chores. I made a rice pudding for breakfast & went after Kids & got a few groc. came home & fixed supper. Jerry picked Ray up on his way home & we ate then Ray went to play practice & I got my books up & read paper.

Dean did dishes. Jackie & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Jerry wrapped present & wrote letters.

Gene withdrew from Nampa High School & moved out & went to Gails to live & finish school at Adrian.

I came home from work & ate & read paper & went to bed after I cooked Ivard & Jackies breakfast. Ivard woke me up at 12:30 & I got ready and took Jackie to dance practice then I went & signed up for unemployment and got a few groc. Came home at 4: and went to bed and never got up until time to go to work but I couldn't sleep.

Ivard took Gene up to High School & withdrew him & he moved out and went to Adrian to live with Gail & finish school at Adrian. I was so mad at Ivard & Gene. He never even woke me up & said goodbye. Gail came over & took his dresser for him.

Ray went to work then came home & made Xmas decorations to sell. Jerry went to meeting.

Dean got supper.

I came home from work & read paper & ate & fixed breakfast for Ivard then I went to bed. Ivard got me up at 11: & I took him up to Dr. and Jackie & I went & got groc. we came home & I went to bed again.

I went up to store & got some soup for Kids for supper & we ate and I went went back to bed but I just can't sleep.

Ray went to work, came home early & him & Gene went to Middleton to play ball. They beat 6th Ward.

Jerry went to Mutual meeting. I went to work at 11: We had our annual Xmas Turkey dinner tonite because we are going down for the next month, the morning of the 8th.

Monday, December 4, 1961

Ivard went to Boise to Dr.

sunny & windy 28 degrees when I came home from work. I ate & read paper & went to bed at 9:30 & Ivard got me warm. He got up & tended Sis. I washed a batch of cloths.

I got up at 1:15 & we went to Boise to Dr., won't half to go to him again unless something goes wrong. Took Ins. papers up to hospital & left them. Had hamberger & root beer at "Pac Out" got home at 5:45 & fixed supper.

We ate when Jerry got home at 6:25.

I went to bed until time to go to work, couldn't sleep.

Kids all went to Mutual. Gene wasn't going but Kurt came & got him.

Ivard & I read paper in bed & slept awhile. got up at 11:45 & played scrabble. Jerry had roast on & I fixed dinner & we ate at 3: when they got home from store after comeing from church at 2:30. Fast day no church tonite. Jerry went to see about church work & probably to see Alice.

I wrote letters all afternoon, Bill, Kay, Irvin.

Ray did dishes & made carmel corn. I went to bed at 7:30.

Gene & Kids got home at 9:30 & Jackie came to bed with me. I never did go to sleep. I got up at 10:30 & had a shower & got ready & went to work mailed letters on the way.

Gail & Lynda came over & took Dale & Jackie home for week end.

I came home from work & fixed Ivards breakfast & read paper & went to bed at 10: Ivard got me up at 12:30 & Jackie & I took him to Boise to Dr. Smith's office & nurse took his drain tube out. Went to Gold Strike Center & got 3 Xmas presents & to Sears & got 4. Then we ate at "Pac Out" & came home at 5:30 & I dashed up to 2 banks, paid bills & did a little Xmas shopping. Came home at 7:30 & Jerry & Ray were up shopping & Gail & Lynda came & left Kids & they went shopping. Dean & I fed Kids & they all got home about 9:30 and Gail & Lynda took Dale & Jackie home for week-end to go to Ontario & see Santa Parade

Ivard & I went to bed at 10: & Kids wrapped presents.

My nite off. They laid 50 off this morning - nearly got to me.

I came home from work so tired. I fixed Ivards breakfast & read paper & went to bed at 10:30. & never woke up until 5:15, phone woke me up.

Gene came home from school & took Jackie to Primary, then went & got her.

I fixed supper & Jerry & Ray took off.

I went back to bed until time to go to work but I couldn't go to sleep, tried too hard. took Sis to bed with me.

Came home from work & fixed Ivards breakfast & read paper & went to bed at 10: Ivard got me up at 12:30 & I took Jackie up to her dancing lesson then at 2:30 I went & signed up for unemployment. Then we came home & got Ivard & took him up to Rail Road to sign up for leave of absence then we went & bought some writeing material & stamps & mailed Ivard 2 letters.

Came home & fixed supper & we ate and I went to bed until time to go to work. Never did get to sleep, trying too hard.

Gene home sick again.

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed at 9:30. Ivard got me up at 12:30 & I took him up to Dr & went & got feed & groc. & paid place. Came home & Ivard & I went to bed at 3: I got up at 5: & cooked supper.

Ray came from work & Jerry & we ate & Jerry went to meeting & droped Gene & Ray off at church to go to Kuna & play ball & Dean out to Perrys to scout meeting. I went to bed at 7:30 until time to go to work.

Got letter from Kay - Hes now Superviseing Elder. Lyle left for home. Gene home sick.

sunny & nice - hung cloths out.

Jerry took Ray to Seminary & came home & got ready & went to work before I woke up.

Gene got home from Nyssa sick & took Dean to school then went to bed

I got up, after I read paper, and got Ivard & Jackie breakfast then changed my bed & Kids & washed 6 batches of cloths & got books up. Answered phone & Mrs. Terry came over a few min. to see Ivard.

Fixed lunch and wrote 12 page letter to Kay & one to Berniece.

Made Barbacue & we ate when Kids got home then Jerry, Ray & Dean went to Mutual.

Gene slept most of day. Went to bed at 8: until time to o but couldn't sleep. We went back to work tonite after 10 days off.

So foggy I could hardly see.

Sunday, November 26, 1961

Ivard came home from hospital. Ray got his Duty to God award. We got a new Bishop - Perry. Lyle - Gail came.

I read paper in bed. Got up & fixed Dale, Jackie & I breakfast after Jerry, Ray, & Dean went to priesthood.

I took Dale & Jackie to sunday school at 11:50 & car stoped on my up at college stop sign so they got out & went with Crofts. Mrs. Madison came along & pushed me & got me started & I went & mailed Ivards letter for compensation & went to Albertsons & got groc. & got gas. Came home at 12:30 & got books up. Ivard called & said he could come home so I left for Boise at 2: & brought Ivard home. Kids had eaten & Ray was doing dishes.

Lyle & his Kids came with Gail Lynda & Kids & Gene & his girl about 6: & visited awhile. Barbra stayed with her Mother, had a scare & took her back to hospital. At 7:30 they left all Kids here & went to Caldwell bowling. Jerry went to Caldwell to church & Ray & Dean went to ours. Ray got his Duty to God award. I got Ivard to bed & fed Kids some icecream & laid down with Ivard & Dale played games with Kids. I got up at 9:30. They came at 10: & went home at 10:30. Gene went too to get his car. Lyle goes home in morning.

Got letter from Mother

I got up when Jerry went to work & started to iorn, did 44 pieces quit at 1:30 when Jerry got home with car. Dean cleaned his bed room. I washed 3 batches

Ray worked all day at Thorn's.

I had a shower & left for Boise at 2: got there about 2:50. set with Ivard until 7:15. He feels real good ate meat & everything today. Thinks he'll come home tomorrow or Monday.

I went & had a shake & fries after at "Murrys" & got home at 8:30.

Ray & I watched T.V. until it went off the air. Jerry & other Kids went to bed early.

Ivard got card & letter from Claudia

Gene went to Nyssa for week end & took Lyle.

I got up at 7:30 & started to iorn, did 40 pieces. quit at noon.

Jerry went to work & Ray worked all day.

Dean & Ray fixed breakfast & Dean did dishes. Barbra swept & moped up floors & Gene took Lyle up to get his Idao Drivers licence. Gene & Dean fixed cocoa & sandwiches for lunch & I got ready & Lyle, Barbra, & I went to Boise to hospital to see Ivard. He feels real good. Gail called Ivard at 4:30 from our place & said he had to go home early, but he'd waite until 6: We walked in house at streight up 6: & they'd been gone 20 min. Dean had supper ready, spagetti & left overs & we ate & at 7: Gene took Lyle, Barbra & Kids over to Gails to stay & he would too.

Ray did dishes & Jerry went away awhile. Kids went to bed. I watched T.V. until about 10: & went to bed.

Lyle Barbra & Kids came from Calif.

Kids all home today from school & work. I got up early & made cranberry sauce, dressing, put ham roast to cook & cooked a Kettle of squash, made 3 pumpkin pies & 2 mince. Jerry made cranberry salad & fixed squash in cassarole with marshmallows on & finished dinner & I got ready & at 11: I left for Boise to have Thanksgiving dinner with Ivard. Each patient could have a guest he was as excited as little Kid. I had Turkey & all the trimmings, he had bullion milk & custard. I visited until 1:30 & he sent me home to eat with Kids. We ate at 3:30. I was going back to see Ivard with Gail but he never did show up.

At 8: Clifford & Mr. Metcalf brought Lyle, Barbra & Kids, they got here this morning, rode up with friends from Vale. Joe brought his projector & showed us his pictures of Kids & Jerrys slides he took on Mission. Joe left about 9:30. Lyle stayed all nite. We visited awhile & all went to bed.

Wednesday, November 22, 1961

Dr. said Gene had slight concussion for hitting his head on wind shield in car wreck over to Nyssa over week end in Marvin Haneys car. Really rained this afternoon.

Jerry went to work & Kids went to school. Gene didn't go to school today. I helped him load 2 cows, 2 trips, & he took them to sale at Karture Junction. I washed 4 batches of cloths, got ready & went up & got a few groc. & feed. got to dancing class at 1:, Mrs Kotter brought Jackie then took her back home while I went to hospital. I came home at 2:20 & got Gene & we went to Boise to see Ivard. He feels pretty good but his coughing spells that hurt his stomache, too many smokers. We left at 5:30 & went & had hamberger, Shake & fries for our supper. Got to Nampa at 6:45 & Gene got his free gal. of icecream he won at foot ball banquet at Alpin Rose D. Got home & let Gene out & went to Kotters & got Jackie. Mutual bought us a basket, whole chicken, roast & bunch of canned goods. I watched T.V. awhile & went to bed early. Gene & Ray went to Dr. Markusen for physical for church ball.

Tuesday, November 21, 1961

Jackie stayed at Kotters all afternoon & nite.

Jerry took Ray to Seminary & came home & ate & went to work. Ray didn't come home before school. Kids went to school & I washed 3 batches of cloths & was until after Gene came home for lunch, doing 2 days dishes.

I got ready & Jackie & I went & got Dean shoes from shoe makers & got her some candy & took her down to Kotters & left her & I went to Boise to see Ivard. He feels pretty good today. I visited him all afternoon. when I came out to come home at 7: it was really snowing & had about 2 in. on car. It snowed & blowed hard all the way home, looked like a big river flowing across road in front of me all the way. I got home at 8: & Jackie wasn't home yet & Gene & Ray had gone to Kuna to play their first basketball game (church). They beat Caldwell 2nd.

I went to Kotters after Jackie but she was in bed asleep so I left her all nite. I sat & talked until 10: & came home & went to bed, Kids came right after & Jerry from his meeting.

Our first snow storm

Ivard got card from Stella

started to snow, lightly, at midnite. had about 2 ins. when we got up. Jerry took Ray to Seminary while I cooked breakfast, bacon, eggs & toast & orange juice. He ate when he got back & rest of kids then Gene went & did chores & Ray came & they all went to school.

I washed overalls & socks & colored cloths all morning.

The snow melted off roads pretty good & Jackie & I went & got cow feed then picked Dean up at school at 2: & we came home & Dean tended Jackie & at 2:30 I went up & got Gene & we went to Boise to see Ivard. He felt pretty good today. we stayed until 5: then we came home. Kids all went to Mutual & Dale & Jackie went to bed. I watched T.V., I don't feel very good.

Jerry, Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday school. Ray came home & took Dale & Jackie.

I made Barbacue & Gail & Lynda came & we ate when they came from church. Jerry didn't eat with us he went to Stake sunday school leadership.

At 2: Gail & Lynda took Ray & I to Boise to see Ivard at St. Lukes hospital, he was feeling real good & looked a lot better. We left at 5:15 & came home & Gail went home & Ray went with them to Montgomerys farewell Testimonial (Leland)

Jerry - Dean & Dale went to church & Jackie & I watched T.V, she was too tired to go to church, fell asleep soon as Kids left. Jerry & Kids got home at 10:

Ivard was operated on this morning

Sent letter to Mother & Lyle.

Ray & Jerry went to work & I spent all morning writeing to Mother.

The Dr. hadn't called by 11: to tell me what they'd found out so I called his office & the nurse said, "why he's over to Boise operating," I said, "He'd better not be, they never let me know." She said to hang up & she'd call & see what she could find out. She called up & said they had & they were just finishing up & the Dr. would call me in a few min. He did & said it was a missunderstanding, he thought I knew. He said Dr. Robert Smith, a specialist had operated & that Ivard was fine. They took out is dodum, completely blocked from stomache to intestine, they made a new opening out of part of Instestine. Also took out a nerve & he won't have ulcers any more. He said he would be out of recovery room about 2: so Jerry, Dale & I went to Boise & Jerry took Dale Xmas shopping while I waited to see Ivard, they brought him to his room about 2:45. He looked good & said he felt a lot better with tube out of his nose. They were feeding him interveinsly. He was doped but he'd come out & talk every once in awhile. I wrote Lyle while I sat there. Jerry came & stayed awhile they wouldn't let Dale in. We left at 6: & went to "Murrys" & had shake, fries & hamberger. Came home at 7: & Jerry & Kids wrapped Presents. I watched T.V. relief society brought us an order of food.

Got letter from Claudia.

Ivard went to St. Lukes hospital in Boise

I came home from work at 8:30, we got laid off for next 10 days.

I cleaned up house, washed some cloths and this afternoon Jackie & I went to hospital to see Ivard. After we were there awhile the Dr. (Horton) called on phone & wanted to talk to me. He wanted to know if I could get Ivard over to Boise to St. Lukes hospital right away. I didn't dare drive after never having gone to bed so I called the Bishop & he came about 4: & drove Ivard & I to Boise.

Gene came to see Ivard so I sent Jackie home with him & he tended her till Dean got home then he left for Nyssa for week end. We got Ivard in hospital at 5:30 then we left as Dr. Smith wouldn't be in until 7:30. He was going to examine him & study ex-rays & maybe operate tomorrow. They will let me know. I sat in car for hr. while Bishop was in his Vista-Village store. Got home at 8: & went to bed. I was dead. Our ward Bizzar, Ray only one who went.

I came home from work & put some cloths in to wash then Jackie & I went to bank, paid bills and went to see Ivard all afternoon then we went & got groc. & went to Dairy Queen & had a milk shake & french fries. It was 4: when we got home. I was dead. I went to bed until time to go to work.

Dean got supper & Gene did chores.

Kids went to see Ivard few min. tonite.

I came home from work & washed some cloths & laid down in front room & slept a little.

At 1: I took Jackie to her dance lesson then we went to hospital & saw Ivard until 4:, he feels better today but they still didn't try to get him up to ex-ray - started feeding him milk every 2 hrs. nite & day tring to build up his strength. They still have stomach pump goig.

Dale went to cub scouts.

I came home & went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & went to bed in front room by Sis, after I read paper & ate. She got me up at 12:30 & I cleaned toilet & got ready & Jackie & I went to hospital, Joe Metcalf came just as we were leaving & went with us. His wife went to hospital this morning & had a 8 lb tumor taken out they thought she was going to have a baby. I went to rail road about Ivards sickness Comp & took it to Dr & had filled out. Got groc & came home & got books up.

Ivard passed out again this morning & they couldn't ex-ray, again. Was real sick then had a bad nose bleed.

Jerry went to see Ivard tonite & I went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & washed 2 batches of cloths & washed 2 days dishes. at 1:30 Jackie & I went to hospital to see Ivard. They didn't exray him today, they got him up about 15 min. too soon & he passed out on them. He felt pretty good.

We got groc. & came home at 4: & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Dean fixed supper & Gene did chores & Ray went to work. They all went to Mutual & Dale tended Sis.

Dean did chores & finished the poster for relief society to advertise bizzar & took to church when him & Jerry went to Priesthood. Jerry came home & got me - Dale & Jackie & we went to sunday school. brought Kids home at 1:45 & Dean & I went to hospital to see Ivard, came home at 2:45 & we ate & Jerry went to Stake house to meeting.

I got books up & wrote letters to Irvin & Kay & Jerry sent Kay birthday card. I mailed them when I went to hospital.

Jerry & Dean went to church when I went to hospital, I droped them off. I came home at 8:30 & went to bed until time for work.

Bishop & Atwell Perry came to hospital & adminestered to Ivard.

70's gave us $75. for Kay. It will really help. Kids got home from Nyssa at 11:30.

Saturday, November 11, 1961

Gene got up at 4:30 A.M. & went out & did Wally's chores & hauled us in a load of straw & helped some guy load our 3 cows he bought.

I got up & made biscuits & Gene cooked bacon & eggs & Dean opened grapefruit & set table & we ate a late breakfast. Jerry didn't work today. I made a big Kettle of soup & washed 6 batchs of cloths. Changed my bed. got them all dry - warm & breezy.

Ray worked until noon then had to go after game for awhile.

Gene left for game at 12: & at 1: Ray came & took me up. We beat Caldwell 18 to 7 & Gene was sensational, 2 made 2 of touch Downs. A wonderful way to end his high school foot ball carer. Gail & Marvin Haney were there & we waited for Gene & went up to hospital & saw Ivard. We ate soup & Gail took Ray home with him to help move. Gene went out & did Wallys chores & ours & he left for Nyssa at 7: Jerry took Dean to Boise to supper & show & Xmas shopping at noon, got home at 9:

I came home from work & Ray had stayed up all nite & cleaned house & changed everything around. He hadn't started when I left for work at 11: he even swept walks, He went to bed bed at 5:30 A.M.

I laid down on davenport & slept a little until noon. Sis, the phone & people at door Kept wakeing me up.

Sis & I went & got feed then she stayed in car while I went & saw Ivard. We came home & I got supper & ate. Gene went to hospital with me. Ray worked late. Jerry had to go work on church paper, he came up to hospital a few min. We came home at 8:30 & went to bed.

Helen Kotter came & got Jackie at 8: & Kept her all day, Gene went & got her at 5:30. I washed 4 batches of cloths & went to bed but never did get to sleep, tried too hard & was cold. Jackie went to Primary too.

Jerry came home a min when Gene was home for lunch.

I got up at 1: & went to hospital & sat for hr. & Ivard never woke up. He roused up a min. then & talked a min. & went back to sleep so I left at 3: & came home & went to sleep until 4:30 when Ray woke me up going to work.

I got supper on, stuffed Peppers & Dean put on Potatoes. I went & got Dale from Primary. Jackie had already gone with Helen. Got books up. Gene went & got Sis.

We ate & I went to hospital to see Ivard. slept about 2 hrs. & went to work.

I came home from work & read paper & Ivard took Kids to school.

I went to bed at 9:30 & Ivard & Jackie went & got me a new tire on car & Pd. off Americal oil, old farm gas bill. Wally gave us the $200. as first payment on our side-delivery rake he bought.

They woke me up at 12:30 & I took Jackie to dance practice then came home & at 3: we took Ivard to hospital. They are going to pump his stomache & feed him threw veins to see if they can get his ulcer better. I got groc. & came home at 4: Dale had gone to cub scouts.

I got books up & fixed my work pants & fixed supper & laid down until Jerry came & we ate. Ray was to work. Jerry went to United Fund meeting. I went to hospital. They were feeding Ivard through veins & pumping is Stomach. I cam home at 9: & slept until work.

I came home & ate & read paper & went to bed at 9:30. I was so cold I didn't go to relief society.

Ray stayed home sick, he went up & worked his lunch hr. at Dairy queen & at 3: him & Ivard went up town & got his new shoes, he went & got his money. Ivard pd. bills Ivard came home & brought Ray & he went to work & Ivard went back up to Don's to get me a new tire but he didn't, Don was gone. Got hair cut.

I didn't sleep much today, Ivard came to bed awhile. He still don't feel very good.

I made a rice pudding for Kids breakfast. We ate & I went to bed. Ray went to play practice, Jerry went to meeting & Gene went with Kurt to football jamboree. They were all home when I got up to go to work.

I came home from work & ate while Ivard took Kids to school & read paper & went to bed at 9:30.  I got up at 2:15 & washed a batch of cloths & tended Sis while Ivard went to Dr. His opening from his stomache to Intestines is all swelled up & inflamed (ulcers) he has to eat nothing but Sustegene (vitamine, milk, diet product) & take a bunch of medicine for 3 days & if it is better then he has to go to hospital. I got books up & crocheted a little & fixed supper & we ate when Jerry came.

Gene didn't have practice today, got home right after school. Ray came home & went to work & if he got paid he was going to get some shoes, he didn't.

I went to bed about7:30 when Kids went to Mutual. Jerry went to show after. Ivard is laid off sick.

Jerry - Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & Ray came & got Dale & Jackie & they all went to sunday school & fast meeting. Ivard was sure sick, he vomited in nite. He laid off work.

Ivard went to hospital for ex-rays

Windy - snowed a few flakes in nite. rained this morning.

I came home from work & Ivard was to hospital, had to be there at 8:30. I took Dale to school & read paper & ate. Ivard came home at 10:30 & had to eat lunch & go back & have more ex rays taken. I went to bed until 2: Ivard went back to hospital & was home in 1/2 hr. we took Pick-up up to have anti-freeze in & we went to Caldwell & I put dimes in bank & Jackie put her birthday money in & I put some in for Ray. Had a milk Shake & came to Nampa & pd. bills & I got my drivers licence. Came home & Ivard took Dales bike up to shop to be fixed.

We ate supper & Gene & Ray left to go to foot ball game.

Ivard & I left for Boise at 7:15 to game. We won 12 to 7. Gene made winning T.D. He played a brilliant game. It was bitter cold - hard wind. Came home at 10: & watched T.V. Jerry went to work on paper.

Cloudy & rained some - windy

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed but I just there when guy came to wire house for dryer & Ivard had to go to Dr. so I had to get up & tend Sis. so I hung out cloths I'd but in to wash. Ivard came right back, because Dr. had to go, so I went to bed until 2:30 & he went to Dr. again so I got up The guy was from 10:30 till 3: putting in dryer plug & new Pannel box $121.

I took Sis to Primary & got groc.

When Gene came I took him up to get his school Pictures & got Jackie from Primary. Ivard was sure sick when he got home, he has to go in morning to hospital for X-rays.

We ate & Ivard - Gene & Ray went over to Owhyee Ward & Scouts played ball. I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivards nite off, they got home at 10: Jerry went to meeting.

Jackie got birthday card & $1. from Mother. And birthday card from Ruth.

Cloudy & rained some. Jackie was 5.

I came home from work & read paper, made cinnamon apple, Jello salad & baked beans for supper. I went to bed at 11: & got up at 2: & we went & Pd. place & got Jackies birthday cake & icecream, picked Dale up at school. Came home & Ivard went to work & Dale went to his last little legue ball game.

I made 2 meat loaves & when Jerry came we had Jackies birthday supper. baked beans, Jello salad, cottage cheese, meat loaf, olives & potoate chips & cidar Jerry bought. We didn't even cut cake, fancy haloween decorated one, or have any icecreame, every one was too full. Dean, Dale & Jackie went Trick or treeting after we opened her presents 6 pr. pantys, 5 pr. anklets, 3 dollars, coin perse, 2 books, paint book, crayons, tablet, sewing card & dance bag for her things.

Ray went to Seminary Party & Gene went with Kurt. I went to bed at 8: till time to go to work.

Kids got home from Nyssa just in time for school, Ray missed Seminary & Jerry had to take Pick-up to work cause Genes car wasn't home.

Roto-Rooter came & pumped 2 loads out of septic tank, $30. Johnson Electric came to see about hooking up dryer & we will have to rewire & put in new panal, $125. he's comeing Thursday Jackie & I went to bank, pd. lites, got groc. came home & Ivard left for work at 3:45.

I came home from work & read paper & messed around. Went to bed at 10:30 but Kept getting woke up.

Gene came home for lunch & he left for Twin Falls about 2: with team. He didn't even take his suite, his leg too bad. They got beat 10 to 0. He got home at 1: A.M.

When Kids got home Ivard & I went & pd. some bills & I laid some things away for Xmas.

We ate supper & Jerry took Ray to Adrians home comeing game then Ray stayed the week-end with Gail.

Ivard & I played Scrabble, listened to football game & watched T.V. Kids played.

I came home from work & went to bed. no fuel oil & no money. I gathered up wood & made a fire in fire place tonite to warm up plac.

I got up at 12: & got ready & took Jackie to her dancing lesson, borrowed a heating pad from Mrs Kotter for Genes sore leg - (muscles).

Ivard & Jackie took my car up this morning & had anti-freeze put in it.

Ivard went to work at 3:45.

Dale came home from school & went to Cub scouts. He had to furnish the treats & bought them on the way.

Jerry got up & took Ray to Seminary, does every morning. Kids ate & went to school & I changed my bed & washed it & 4 other batches.

Cleaned bathroom.

Ivard laid down & had a nap.

I didn't go to relief society, too much to do today.

I washed ceiling walls & wood work in bathroom & inside of shower & scrubbed & waxed floor. at 1:30 Ivard took me up to get car, they put a new water pump on it, and I went to Superior Western & hair my hair tinted, cut & manacure. I iorned most of day. stoped at noon & went up to pay a bill. We ate & Gene went back to school & Ivard went up to see about getting car fixed then Jackie & I took it up to Dobbs & he brought us home & went to work at 3:45.

Ray came home from school & went to work. Dale went to ball practice in Raine, came home soaked. Dean milked. Ray came home & did dishes & we ate & Jerry, Gene, Ray & Dean went to Mutual. Dale, Jackie & I went to bed at 8:

Ray & Dean went to priesthood & sunday school & Ray came home & got Dale & Jackie.

Ivard slept all morning. I crocheted.

When Kids got home we had dinner.

Ivard went to work at 3:45.

Ray went  over to Smalls all afternoon.

I took Dean & Dale up to church after Dean did chores & came home & Jackie & I went to bed at 7:30. I feel awful & she has a earache. I read B of M. for awhile.

nice windy day after rain this A.M.

I got up & washed cloths nearly all day. I feel awful.

About 3: Jerry & Gene sneaked their sunday cloths out & went to Nyssa for week end. Jerry worked until noon. Ray worked all day.

Ivard & Kids fixed bikes all morning. Gene went up to school & got in Whirl pool for his sore leg.

I played scrabble with Ivard & Kids. We had dinner and Ivard went to work at 3:45.

Dean cleaned up house a little. Ray came home & did up dishes.

I crocheted & watched T.V. until Ivard got home.

Plant was down for 3 days didn't have to work.

It rained most of afternoon.

I came home from work sick. I read paper & went to bed most all day.

I was Ivards day off & he tended Sis.

I got up this afternoon & we went to bank, pd. some bills & got $26. worth of groc. Came home & was just fixing supper when Gail, Lynda & Kids came & ate with us. I went back to bed. I felt awful.

Ivard, Ray, Gail & Lynda went to foot ball game & Dean & Dale tended Kids. Jerry went & worked on paper awhile.

I listened to game on radio. We beat Pocotello 7-6. I got up when they got home & had pie & icecream. They went home & I went to bed. I laid off. Ivards nite off. Gene got his leg hurt.

I came home from work and read paper & went to bed. I never woke up until I got up & cooked supper. Ray came home from school & went to work & to play practice after.

I spent all afternoon writeing to Kay & getting my books up.

I came home from work cold & went to bed & never did get up & go to relief society. Ivard stayed in bed awhile with me.

Gene & Ray went to church at Owyhee & didn't come home until after I'd gone to work.

Jerry & Dean went to Priesthood & Sunday school & Jerry came & got Dale & Jackie for Sunday school. Ivard stayed in bed until noon. I got up at 9:30 & crocheted.

Jerry brought Kids home & went to Stake meeting.

I got dinner for Ivard & I, Dean, Dale & Jackie & we ate at 3:. Ivard went to work at 3:45.

I got up early, before Jerry went to work & started washing rugs cloths, special things.

I iorned all afternoon, did 89 pieces & still didn't get done. Dean scrubbed the floors & did work.

Gene got home from Nyssa at 8:45 & Ivard took him to dentist, Dr. Lee, & he put a silver cap on his front tooth he broke last nite in game. He went back to Nyssa at 2: to Evelyn Cleavers sisters reception & Stay all nite at Gails.

Ivard went to work at 3:45.

Jerry & Dean went to store & Jerry got me 2 1/2 cases grapefruit, case peas & corn & bunch of other groc.

Jerry went out to supper & to Stake dance, Jackie & Dale went to bed early & Dean & I watched T.V. My nite off.

I came home from work and washed some cloths & went to bed at 11: & Ivard got up & tended Sis.

I got up this afternoon and made chilli for after the game & got supper. Put 5 pies in freezer that I made last nite. I went to bank & put Kays money in & got some groc.

We ate & Gene went to ball game at 7:

We went at 8: & Gail, Lynda & Glen Ward came & set with us. Borah beat us 41 to 12. Gene made a 67 yard run for one of our t. D. he was the whole game. He got his front tooth broke off. Gail brought Evelyn Cleaver over, Genes girl, & they went to dance after & Gene took her home & stayed all nite at Gails. My & Ivards nite off. Gail & Ward came & had chilli & pie & icecream after game.

I came home from work & went to bed. I was so tired. Ivard did up dishes & him & Jackie went to store & got groc. & feed.

When I woke up Ivard had the rest of apples peeled and I got up and made 8 apple pies & a big bowl of salad & cooked pork steak & squash & we ate supper before Jerry got home or Ray. Ray was to work & Jerrywent to interviewed some guys & to work on paper.

I went back to bed at 7:30 & Ivard too. It was Ivards nite off & he got called to work for 11:30 so he went, time & 1/2. $37.

I came home & read paper & got ready & went to relief society work day, me & Jackie, at 10:. They had it today on account of no school yesterday. We had a real good dinner & I worked on dish towels.

Came home at 1:15 & Jackie & I went to bed with Ivard. Couldn't get to sleep until 2:15. Got up at 4: & Ivard had apples peeled & I bottled 15 qts.

Took Ray to work. Dale went to cub scouts.

Gene got home at 5:45 & watched T.V. awhile & went out to do Wallys chores.

Ivard went to Burley to game

I came home & read the paper & went to bed at 10: I got up at 2: & we made 6 qts grape jam & at 3: I took Ivard up to Taylors store & he went to Burley with them to foot ball game. I went to store and got some cauliflower & came home & fixed 8 qts & put in freezer.

I went & got Jerry from work and he fixed supper & we ate at 7:30.

Jerry went up to church to get the paper out. I went to bed at 8: until time to go to work.

Ivard & Jackie went to Caldwell this morning & put my dimes in bank.

I listened to foot ball game we won 20 to 18. Half the broadcast was Gene.

Ivard got home at 12:30. Gail, Lynda & Kids went too. Ray cleaned house.

I came home from work & washed 3 batches of cloths & hung & read paper then I went to bank, my pay day, paid 1/2 car Ins. Came home & went to bed at 1: I got up at 5:30 & Gene had come home from school & gone out to Wallys to do chores & Ray was to work. Ivard took Jackie to Primary & they were home. Ivard took Jackie to Primary & they were home.

I got cloths in & fixed supper. We fasted all day for Kay and ate supper about 7:30.

Ivard killed & cleaned 2 chickens.

We all went up to church to 2nd Ward's Elders supper. Sure good.

Jerry & Ray went Ward teaching after. We came home & I went to bed until time to go to work.

At 7: I had a shower & got ready & we went to Don Taylors to Mutual officers party. Jerry went earlier to help. We had a real nice lunch. Got home at 9:30 & laid down an hr & went to work.

I came home & took Jackie to her dance lesson at 1:, came home and run the grapes through Ivard had cooked & bottled 9 qts juice and put pulp in ice box to make jam later. Gene got up & went to Nyssa to church all day at Owyhee ward before I was awake.

Wasn't any sunday school on account of General conference. We listened to it & played Scrabble. I had to wash a couple of batches of cloths.

We had dinner about 2: & tonite before church we had apple salad, cocoa & donuts.

We got up at 6: A.M. & left for home. We stoped in Arco & had breakfast. We got home & got Jackie & was home by 11:30.

We listened to conference & played Scrabble. I washed cloths.

I had a nap.

Tonite, after I went to store & got groc. & we had supper, Ivard, Jerry & Dean went to stake House to Priesthood conference. Gene had to go out to Wallys & milk. Ray was sick.

Went to Idaho Falls to game

Got letter from Mother - Berniece - Claudia

Got a birthday card & letter from Mother, Ruth & Claudia & a card from Berniece, a slip from Mother & $10. from Jerry & $5. from Kids. I came home from work & laid down awhile but couldn't sleep. I got up & got ready & we took Jackie to Kotters to stay all day & nite & at 12:30 we left for Idaho Falls with Don & Charlotte Taylor, in their car, to Foot ball game. Got there at 6: & got a room apiece at "Rays" Motel then walked up & ate & went to foot ball game. Kids left on bus at 8:30 AM & got there at 2: & there was 4 in. of snow it was all melted when we got there but it was cold. We won 19 to 14 real exciteing. We got back to Motel at 10: & I droped into bed. I was dead. It was nice & warm & good bed. My nite off.

I came home from work & went to bed & when I got up at 2: Ivard had 1/2 bu of grapes cooked & I strained them & bottled 10 qts grape juice & made 10 pts grape jam. Ray took Kids to Primary when he came home from school & went to work.

Dale was supposed to make a cake for Pack meeting & Ivard & I had to make it for him because he went to foot ball practice after Primary. I had to make a batch of fudge for it too. I made a bid Kettle of soup & we ate when Jerry came & Gene & Ivard left for Nyssa foot ball game, they droped Ray off at the Adrian game. Lynda had my birthday party after, thought I was comeing, sent me a black & white sunday dress & a potted yellow chrysthun from the Boys away from home, Lyle, Gail & Kay. They got home at midnite. Jerry took Dale Dean & Jackie to church to Cub scout meeting. I went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & Lynda & Kids were here, they'd brought car over to garage & Jerry took it up when he went to work.

I put a batch of clothes in & went right to bed. When Ivard woke me up at noon him & Lynda had rest of apples peeled ready to bottle & Lynda had lunch ready. We ate & Gene went back to school & they left for home. I washed 2 batches of cloths & bottled 2 batches of apples (15 qts).

We went up to bank & paid bills & saw about Genes pictures. Got books up.

Ray came home & went to work & Dale went to Cub Scouts.

Got supper & we ate & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Jackie started dance lessons

I came home from work & slept 1 hr. then Jackie & I went to Relief Society Opening Social, brunch & programe. Came home & had lunch & Ivard took Jackie up to Mrs. Hatche's & Jackie started her first dance lessons. Ivard went & paid bills while he waited. I went with her. She did real good. I slept an hr. between relief society & dance practice.

We came home at 3: & I went to bed, was supposed to stay until I went to work but I never shut an eye until 8: I finally got up & cooked their waffles for supper.

Ivard took Dale to play ball, got beat.

Dean went to Caldwell to song leading class.

Jerry went to Meeting.

Went to Boise

nice warm, breezy day.

Jerry went to work & Kids went to school. Gene got home from Nyssa in time for school.

I changed every bed in the house & got them all washed and Ivard helped me make them.

I went up to bank & paid car & got groc. while Ivard was in doctor. Came home & had lunch with Gene then we went to Boise & got Jackie some tap dance shoes & Helen's neice some, then took them to Kotters. Dale went to ball practice.

Ray came home & went to work & when he came home he took a batch of pajamas up & finished drying them.

I got supper & we ate & Jerry Ray & Dean went to Mutual. Gene did chores & him & Ivard went to Mutual. I had a shower & went to bed until time to go to work. Ray never got home from Mutual until 11:10.

I finished reading "Zions Redemption" 56 pages & 70 pages Book of Mormon.

I still don't feel good.

Ivard - Jerry - Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday school, Ray came & got Dale & Jackie for sunday school. Jackie gave closeing prayer.

I got up at 11:30 & made a few no bake cookies & got dinner on & went back to bead & read. They brought little Kids home & Ivard, Jerry, Ray & Dean went to Stake House to Priesthood meeting. Ray went to Smalls this afternoon.

They got home at 4:30 & we ate & I went back to bed. Dean did dishes & chores & they all went to church. I got books up & went to bed & read awhile. I still don't feel good so I laid off again.

Gene stayed all nite at Gails.

Jerry went to work until noon & Ray went all day. Ivard went up & got a few things on sale then I went & met Jerry at noon & we got a few things.

Gene went & had his Senior Pictures taken then took his sunday cloths & went out to work for Wally then went over to Gails to stay all nite & go to dance at Nyssa.

At 7:15 Ivard & I & Jackie went up to High School to little legue Jambree. Dale played in first game, at 8:30 we brought Dale & Jackie home & Ivard & I went to church to 70's party & meeting, hardly any one came. We ad chilli, salad we took (Jello) & icecream & cookies the guys went & bought. Got home at 10:30.

I laid off again. Ray went to Kellog birthday Party.

I came home from work so sick (Period) I went right to bed with hot water bottle.

Ivard & Jackie were all morning getting oil change & greese job new oil & air filter & head lite. They went to bank & Paid some bills.

I got up this afternoon & made chilli for after game, Ivard had beans cooking. He peeled apples & I made 3 pies for after game & cooed supper.

Ray went to work after school then to Marshing to Adrian game. Ivard went to Sophmore game & Dale to practice, we ate & Jerry went to work on paper. Gene came home from school & cleaned front room & moved everything & Dean did Kitchen & dineing room.

I laid off I was comeing so bad.

We went to game & Gail & Lynda came right after, left Kids with Dean. We beat "Minico" 19 to 0. We came home & ate. Gail left at 11: & I went to bed.

Pay day. I came home from work & read paper & ate & went to bed after I washed 2 batches of cloths & hung one out. Ivard was still in bed. He got up & tended Sis & hung out other cloths.

I got up at 2: & Ivard had a double batch of apples peeled & I got them on & washed another 2 batches of cloths. Called Helen & she told me about Mellissa just starting dance lessons so I called & enrolled Jackie for next Tuesday.

Ivard went to Primary in Dales class & took Jackie.

I bottled 17 qts apple sauce.

I roasted a ham & put potatoes under it & Dean made fruit salad dressing & I made apple salad for supper & cooked some frozen peas.

Dale went to ball practice.

We ate & I went to bed until time to go to work. Jerry went to meeting.

I came home from work & Ivard was still in bed. I ate & read paper & went to bed & Ivard got up & tended Sis.

I got up at 1: & made 16 qts prune jam, I had ready to do in icebox. Ivard & Jackie went to bank & got gas in car.

Ivard peeled apples & I made a pie for supper & 2 Ivard took over to neighbors, the man died, & 3 little ones for Jerrys lunches.

Got supper & we ate when Jerry came Ray went to work after school & Dale went to Cub Scouts & to foot ball practice & Ivard went & helped coach.

I came home from work & took a hot water bottle & went to bed. & slept all day. Got up at 4: I was tired.

When I got up I went to store & got $24. worth of groc. Ivard got a $100. from guy that pastured his sheep on our place last winter.

I cooked supper and we ate & Jerry & Ray went to Stake house to meeting.

I went back to bed until time to go to work.

Dale & Ivard went to little legue practice. Dale went selling tickets after supper.

I made barbacue & Ivard & I were playing Scrabble when Gail came & Kids got home. Ray went to store & we ate.

Gail went home at 4:15 & I got books up & wrote to Mother.

Everyone went to church but Jackie & me & we went to bed. I got up at 11: & had a shower & wet to work at 11:30.

It really rained hard for 6 hrs. during nite.

Cloudy. rained some - Thunder at nite.

Jerry & Ray got up & went to work & Gene did chores & fixed fence & cleaned up yard a little.

I spent all morning washing cloths it was so stormy Ivard took Sock batch up to dryer & left with Dale while he went & paid bills.

Gene went & met Jerry at noon & they had a hair cut. Ray came home for lunch & took him up. Jerry took his car to work & had it worked on this morning.

This afternoon I iorned & Jerry cooked 2 or 3 Kettles of prunes for Jam & Dean run them threw tonite. I made 16 qts of mustard pickle.

Gene put packs on his lip all day tonite he took garbage. Jerry got supper & we ate & him & Ray went Ward teaching & Gene went to show with John P. I watched T.V. We went to bed at 11: My nite off.

I came home from work & went to bed after I read paper & ate. When I woke up at 2: I fixed mustard pickles in brine while Ivard went up to Dr. to get his Ins. papers.

Dale came home & went to foot ball practice & Ivard went up to Soph. game he came back at 6: & we went up town & got groc. & got my sheets for bunk beds out of laway & laid 4 away for Mothers birthday. Dean went to Scout meeting at Allens after school & stayed. While we were up town Jerry went to work on paper & left Jackie alone. When we came home after dark Jackie was gone. We hunted all over, up to foot ball game & every where. I was just going to Police when Dale came with her, he'd been selling tickets & came home & found her alone & took her. Ray had gone to Scout meeting - game & dance. & Gene had left for game. Gail & Lynda came & brought Gene girl - Evelyn Cleaver, & we went to game with them. Pendleton beat us 7 to 0. We came home & had lunch after & Gail left at 11: My nite off.

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed. Ivard got up & I took Kids to school.

Ivard woke me up at 2:30 & he had the last of pears peeled & bottles washed. I cored them & bottled 14 qts. while Ivard went & got groc. & stamps and took Jackie to Primary. Dean went too. Gene got supper going. Dale went to ball practice after Primary.

Gene went to Practie at nite.

I laid down until time to go to work. Ray & Jerry went selling Improvement Era's & chilli feed after.

Ray worked after school.

Got a letter from Mother

I came home from work & went to bed until 2:

Ivard washed bottles & I did 9 qts pears & cooked the Kids a good supper for a change.

Ivard went & got Deans bike from being fixed & got groc. Gene helped me get supper.

Dale came from school & went to cub scouts then him & Ivard went & got his helmet at foot ball practice.

We ate & Jerry went to Marshing to Stake M-Men & Gleaners. Ray worked after school.

I got to bed at 8: until time to go to work.

I came home from work & went to bed until 2: & got up & Ivard had bottles washed & he helped me peel & we did 9 qts pears & 5 qts peaches & 10 qts jam (peach) thats end of peaches.

Ivard went & met Dale after school & bought him a suit for little legue foot ball (11;50) & took him to practice

Jerry came home & ate & went to bed early.

Monday, September 11, 1961

Gene got home in time for school.

I came home from work & changed the Kids beds & washed 4 batches of cloths and Ivard peeled pears and I bottled 27 qts. It was 3: when I went to bed.

Dean came home & got supper. Ray came home & went to work until time for Mutual. Gene milked. Jerry & Ray went early & Gene & Dean went later.

Ivard & Dale made the Kids bed.

I got up an hr. when they ate & went back to bed until time to go to work.

Sent Kay a letter.

I got home at 8:30 & went to bed at 9: & got up at 2:

Ivard - Jerry - Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday school, they came home & got Dale & Jackie. Dale went home with Perry's for afternoon.

Jerry fixed dinner & we ate & he went to interview some guys for Mutual. I washed a batch of cloths & got my books up. Ray did dishes & washed me a bunch of bottles.

I wrote to Kay. & mailed it on way to work.

Dean did chores. Jerry went up & got some groc. & we had a dish of icecream. They all went to church but me and I went to bed until time to go to work.

I should have done fruit but I didn't.

Ivard went without his crutches for first time.

Cloudy & cool.

I came home from work & Jerry was to work & Ray went right after I got home. I ate & went to bed at 9: & got up at 2: Ivard helped me peel & we did 12 qts peaches & 18 qts pears.

Gene & Dale went & worked for Wally & came home about 3: & Gene went to Nyssa for week end.

Jerry came home & washed some cloths & went to store for me.

Dean cleaned up a little & Ray came home and moped the floors.

I finished fruit at 7: & showered & at 7:20 we got up to Church, all of us, to Ward Reunion, 2nd birthday supper. Smorgesbourg. Real good after programe we came home & I laid down a hr. before I went to work. Ivard went with out his crutches for first time.

Jerry & Ray went to Stake dance.

Friday, September 8, 1961

Cool & cloudy

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed at 9:15 & got up at 1:15.

Ivard took Dean to school & Dale had gone on his bike.

Jerry was to work & Ray & Gene were to school.

When I got up Ivard had bottles washed & he helped me peel peaches & we bottoled 19 qts. Gene came home a little early & got supper on to cook. We ate at 4:15. Ray went to work at Thorns. Ivard took Dale for foot ball physical.

Dean, Dale & I went up town & got them some gym shoes & Dean some gym cloths, Dale school cloths & them & Gene & Jerry pajamas & Jackie a sweat shirt & Ray 2 pr. pants.

While we were gone Ivard did dishes]]Came home at 7: & Dean milked & we all went to Foot Ball game.

We beat Emmett 15 to 7. I laid down a hr. & went to work.

I went back to work at midnite in Potatoes

Cloudy, windy - rained a little

Kids got up & went to school & Gene got home from Nyssa in time to milk before he went to school.

Jerry went back to work after his trip & few days off.

I got up about 9:30 & washed a couple of batches of cloths & spent all day doing 27 qts pears.

Gene came home from school & helped me get a doube batch of peach Jam on to cook. Dean fixed supper & milked. Ray came home from school & went to work until 9: then he came home & bottled my 10 qts jam.

Ivard took Jackie to Primary & met Dale & took him to sign for little legue foot ball & to Primary. Jerry came home & went to farewell Party on Ron Garner.

Ivard went up to foot ball practice with Gene. I had a shower & laid down at 8: to  10:30 but couldn't sleep. Went to work at 11: first time back in Potatoes.

Wednesday, September 6, 1961

Jerry got home from Colorado

I got up late after all the Kids had gone to school. I felt awful. My back ached & head. All I gone done was 8 qts pears.

Ivard & Jackie went to bank & paid bills & brought me home a sundee.

Gene came home for lunch & had to fix it fore everyone.

I had to go to work at 3:30 so I left at 2:30 & took my dimes in to bank at Caldwell. It was our last day in corn & we were supposed to get done in 4 or 5 hrs but we were 7 hrs & 20 min. then Mr. Gimlin had water mellon for everyone after, in dining room. I got home at midnite. I just got in bed when Jerry got home from Colorado. Came in taxi from bus.

Gene went to Nyssa after school to Party & stayed all nite at Gails. Ray went to work after school at Thorns.

Tuesday, September 5, 1961

Kids all started back to school today & Ray got a job at Dairy queen during his lunch hr for a 50-cent lunch every day., he started Seminary this morning.

Gene came from Nyssa in time for school.

I got up & did some more washing & bottled 18 qts pears.

Gene came home for lunch & fixed it himself.

I had a shower & left for work at 2:30 for 3:30, had to stop & get gas & pay for peaches. We worked 7 hrs. I was home before midnite.

Gene went to bed early.

Jerry didn't get home today.

Monday, September 4, 1961

sent Kay letter

changed the beds & got all the washing done.

Gene got home from Nyssa just in time to dash up to practice then Ivard went up too.

Took Ray up to church at 9:45 & he went to Idaho City church camp all day with sunday school class, got home at 7:

Gene left for Nyssa again at 1: to help Gail move over to Owyhee Corner he came in Gails car & left them pick-up.

This afternoon Ivard & I, Dean, Dale & Jackie went to fruit stand between Nampa & Caldwell & got 2 bu. of peaches & watermellon. Stoped at A&W & had hamberger, fries & root beer for our supper, came home & cooled watermellon & had it for desert. Peaches weren't ready but found 11 qts pears ready & did them. Got through at 10:50. Ivard, Jackie & I took Ray & Dean to Stake house to "Promised Valley" & we went up to "Cool" place & had a shake & I finished Kays letter so I could mail it. read 35 pages "Z.R."

Sunday, September 3, 1961

Ivard, Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & Ray brought Ivard home after & took Dale & Jackie to sunday school. He brought Jackie home after & they went to Fast meeting.

I bottled rest of peaches 12 qts, & cooked chicken & got dinner.

Ivard & I played a game of "Scrabble" while we waited for Kids. I have 49 qts peaches up now.

Dale brought Don Perry home. We ate & Dean went with Mrs Perry on sunday school business. Ray did dishes & went to store.

I got books up. I didn't go to church, the rest did, it was Primary programe & Ivard had to talk or me. He said he wouldn't but he did. Any way I had a bad stomache. We watched T.V. & went to bed at 10:30 Don got stomache, I think. I called Perrys & Atwell came & got him. right after we went to bed.

Saturday, September 2, 1961

Jerry left for Utah.

Jerry didn't work today. He woke me up at 7:30 & told me goodbye, he was going up to catch the bus for Utah, Gene took him up.

Ray went & worked all day.

Dean cleaned bedrooms & bath.

I washed cloths & bottled 17 qts peaches. Went to store & got sugar & lids & groc.

Gene killed 3 chieckens & Ivard cleaned them for tomorrow.

Gene left for Nyssa about 3: in pick-up to help Gail haul garbage. He was going to stay for week end.

Ivard took Dean up to Stake house for little while. Missionaries are starting a foot ball team.

Ray came home & scrubbed & cleaned up rest of house. We ate barbacue.

Dean did chores.

Ivard went to Bishop's genelogying.

We played Scrabble when he got home at 9:30 & watched T.V. Ray went up to church & got the paper out.

Friday, September 1, 1961

Jerry & Ray went to work. I got up & washed some cloths & bottled 10 more qts. peaches.

It really poured rain for awhile.

I had a shower & got ready & left for work at 1:15 for 2: We worked 10 1/2 hours. I got home at 2: A.M. It was cold, I had heater on. Snowed in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, a little in mountains here.

Gene & Dean got home from Nyssa at 7:30 & Ivard & Gene went up to foot ball practice. Dean milked at 8:

Ray went to Boise to State Fair tonite with John Popelton.

Jerry stayed home for a change.

Thursday, August 31, 1961

We didn't have to work today. I read papers & about 10: we went over to Metcalf & got a case of cantalope & my pears from Steels, I got 3 bu. of ones they sorted out for 1.00. We came home around the lake & I got 2 bu. of Hale peaches for 4.50. Came home & went to store & got sugar & lids & washed bottles & got 10 qts of peaches canned.

We had supper & at 7:30 Ivard & I, Jerry - Dale & Jackie went to Boise to State Fair looked at some of the exhibits & Dale, Jackie & I went on "Octopus," & "Ferris Wheel." We had hamberger & drink & Kids had cotton candy. We never saw Jerry until we left. Ray got mad & wouldn't go with us. He wanted to take car & take a girl & I wouldn't let him.

We got home at 11:30. It was cloudy & few drops of rain.

Wednesday, August 30, 1961

Ray did chores & took him & Jerry to work. They woke me up when they left & I read paper, washed 2 batches of cloths & helped Dean a little with puzzle.

Ivard - Gene - Dale & Jackie got home from Nyssa at 9:30 & Gene went right on up to practice. He came home at 1: & him & Dean left for Nyssa until Friday. They put on "Promised Valley" again tonite & tomorrow nite. Hes going to Ontario Fair this afternoon.

Ivard too me up to bank to pay place & I started me a Savings account for $5. at Home Federal, then we took Dale out by Smalls to Cub scout meeting. I read 32 pages of "Zions Redemption."

I left for work at 5:45. for 6:30. We only worked 4 1/2 hrs. I was home by midnite.
