Friday, July 31, 1959

Gene & Ray worked over to Wallys until 1: & Ivard did chores & we took little Kids & went & got Ivard check & paid bills and went to Caldwell to bank, had root beer & brought gal. home, got cow feed, baler twine & a new screen for our bed room window.

Came home & ate & Gene baled hay until he broke fly wheel.

Wally combined grain until he broke something so Kids unloaded grain and Gene did chores.

We ate at 3: & I took Ivard to work then washed Some of back porch walls.

Dust storm tonight.

We ate & at 8:00 me & Kids went to "Nampa Caldwell Drive Inn" & saw "This Earth is mine" real good & another one. got home at 12:40 & Ivard was home, rode with fireman.

Thursday, July 30, 1959

got 2 cards from Jerry.

Ray & Gene went over to Wallys & worked until about 1: Ivard did chores and helped Wally fix the combine, he broke down. They took load of wheat in & sold.

I was all morning makeing new curtains for back porch. I cooked dinner and we ate when Kids got home.

Ivard started baleing hay & Gene baled all afternoon.

I washed some cltohes & we had lunch for supper. I started washing back porch celing.

Ray hauled the grain in & unloaded it until he broke axel on Wallys pick-up then they used big truck.

I watched T.V. until it went off the air. Ivard got home at 1:05 A.M. ran out of gas

Wednesday, July 29, 1959

Ivard did chores & Gene & Ray went over to Wallys to work. I fixed breakfast for rest of them & fixed Dales sore foot

Washed 2 batches of clothes.

Wally started combineing the mixed grain & Ivard checked water & unloaded grain as he filled pick-up and started to rake hay.

Gene finished rakeing hay & Ray did the milking tonight.

We ate dinner & after I got home from takeing Dale in to Dr. Ross about his foot, had something in it. I took Ivard to work at 2:30 & signed for unemployment & Ivard got some new work shoes. I got groc. & came home.

I took Kids in to Mutual & they came home with some Kids.

I watched T.V. until 11:30 & went after Ivard.

Tuesday, July 28, 1959

mailed letter to Mother & Jerry I wrote yesterday.

got pretty cool last nite. Ray Picked beans & Gene got mower on tractor then they ate & went over to Wallys to work. Ivard milked & checked water then he mowed & we took load grain to town.

I got books up & washed bed spread & blanket and cooked dinner, made a ginger bread for desert.

I washed 2 batches overalls & cleaned back porch.

Kids came home about 1:30 & we ate. Ivard went to work at 3:30. Gene finished mowing & Wally finished combineing wheat. Ray cleaned up basement & got all the fruit on new shelves then he mowed the lawn.

We had supper when Gene got done milking at 8:30. We all went to bed at 9:45.

Cooler all day, didn't need cooler on.

Monday, July 27, 1959

had letter from Jerry, he's in Denver

Ivard got up & milked & Gene cooked his & Rays breakfast & they went over to Wallys to work. I got my books up & started washing clothes. after I read paper I got 7 batches done today and wrote to Mother & Jerry.

I made individual cocoanut cream pies with cocoanut crusts for dinner.

Dale has a real bad sore on bottom of foot, he soaked it then I put wet pack on & kept his foot in air all afternoon. We ate at 2: when Kids came home.

Ivard floated on a 3:30 job

Ray went over to Madisons new house then came home & cleaned bedrooms upstairs & made beds. he got sick this morning over to Wallys. Wally came & started combineing grain, it was too wet so hes doing wheat. I watched T.V. until Ivard got home at 1:15 he'd been to Stockman playing cards.

Sunday, July 26, 1959

Gene did chores & Ivard, Gene, Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday school.

I vacumed my bed room & changed bed & washed my bed Spread & cleaned front room, made a cake, suffle jello salad, & cooked a pork roast with potatoes under it & read paper.

We ate at 1: outside.

Everyone had a nap then Ray did dishes.

Gene did chores & Jackie and I had a bath and we all went to church.

Ivard went up to Rail Road & marked up & got bumped as soon as we got home. He bought Kids a softee on way home.

He didn't work tonight.

Saturday, July 25, 1959

Gene went to work at Pendeltons & Ivard did chores & we ate & I took car in to Dobbs & had a new water pump & thermastat put in, it boiled on Ivard last nite. It was 1:30 when I got groc. & came home then we had icecream & Ivard & I went back to Nampa & he went to Rail Road to see about a job then we went & got feed & a few more groceries.

Came home & Gene was home he got through & got paid, $43.

I cooked hot dogs & made a big Kettle of punch & salad & we ate outside. I washed 2 batches of clothes. Gene did chores & Ivard checked water. Ivard & Jackie bathed & Gene bathed & we took him in to Stake house to lucky clover dance, came home & was watching T.V. & an awful wind came up & lights went out, Thunder, lightening & rained hard for awhile. Ray got home from camp at 11: just as we were leaving to go get Gene. Ivards nite off

Friday, July 24, 1959

Ivard came home from work & checked water & Gene did chores & Ivard went to bed. & I went with him.

Gene didn't work today, only over to Walleys this morning.

I washed some clothes.

sure hot.

We watched the Parade on T.V. from Salt Lake from 9: until noon.

Didn't do much all day.

Cooked dinner & we ate at 2: & Ivard went to work for 4:

Gene did chores & Mr. Jones came & bread a cow.

We watched T.V & Kids went to bed at 11: I watched late show & was up when Ivard got home at 1:30, he had car trouble, boiled on him, I guess water pump is shot, will have to go see in morning.

Thursday, July 23, 1959

Gene did chores & Gene went to work this morning for Wally, got home about noon. Ivard checked water & went to bed all day.

I bottled 9 pts beans and washed some clothes. patched & fixed Dales winter coat & washed it to put away for winter.

I cooked dinner & we ate at 3: & Ivard went in to church at 4: to set up tables & chairs at Kurtz Park for 24th celebration he got groc. & came home at 6: & I had lunch ready & Gene had chores done and we went in to the Park & met with ward & ate our supper all together & they had races. Came home at 10: & It really rained for awhile. Ivard had to go to work at 11: I did 9 pts. beans

Wednesday, July 22, 1959

I got up & took Gene up to Pendleton to work & Ivard did chores & him & Dale picked the beans & we got them picked over & ready to bottle & I put them in ice box. I cooked dinner and went after Gene & we ate & I took him back to work then I went to Nampa & signed up & got groc & car stoped on me in middle of street & I had to call Dobbs & a guy came over & started it & I took it over to Dobbs & they adjusted carbrator. I got groc. & bought a air cooler for $50. at Hales, 60 day charge. came home & Ivard had corn finished cultivating. Gene did chores while we went to Nampa & got 2 1/2 gal. icecream & a gal. of root beer, Gene paid for it. We ate & went to bed early & Ivard went to work at 11:

Tuesday, July 21, 1959

got card from Jerry & he said he was on his way to Denver.
went to Nyssa.

I got up & took Gene to work at 7:30 then got breakfast & worked on my books. just laid around all day it was so hot.

I got dinner & went after Gene & we ate then we took him back to work. Ivard cultivated corn all day.

I went & got Gene at 4: & he did chores & Ivard milked and Gene bathed & got ready & at 6:30 we all took Gene over to Langleys to Keiths birthday party, they went to Vale swimming. We went over to Gails & they weren't home so we went down & had hamberger & Milk Shake, mob in town for wagon train celebration. Gails neighbor said he was down to river so we went down & Kay & them were sater skying. Pete had his boat & Kids got to ride then I had ride after dark. sure fun. went over to Gails & waited until Kay came then at 11: we went after Gene. Ivards nite off.

Monday, July 20, 1959

Ray went to Scout camp

I took Gene to work at 7:20 & came home & we ate & I read paper & Ivard Jackie & I went & got 3 crates of rasp berries while Dean did dishes & washed bottles.

I got berries all picked over & got dinner & went after Gene & we ate then Ivard took him back to work. Ivard started cultivating corn. He got bumped & floated on 3: Job.

I bottled 23 qts rasp berries & 21 pts jam & 7 pts whole string beans. I was so tired & hot.

Gene came home early & had a nap & did chores & they ate. We were all up watching T.V. when Ivard got home then he & I watched the late show.

Sunday, July 19, 1959

sent Jerry a letter & $20

Dean was 10 today. We gave him his new grey sunday pants & sleeveless sweater & pr. grey socks this morning & he wore them to sunday school, he looked so nice, we took pictures of him when he got home. Ivard, Gene, Ray & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday school. I put a roast on & made a birthday cake & got dinner & we ate at 2:00. Dean got 3 more pr. socks, shirt, cloggs & bike basket.

I wrote Jerry & sent him $20. to move back to United States on, mailed it when I took Ivard to work.

Gene did chores & we all went to sacrament meeting. Ray took his stuff to go to scout camp and left it at Madisons then he went home with them & stayed all nite. Gene bought us a softee & we went up & parked at Rail Road & waited until Ivard got off at 11:30.

Saturday, July 18, 1959

got letter from Jerry & he's being called back to U.S. July 29 to work out of Denver.

I got up & Ivard took Gene & Ray to work & Ivard did chores.

We ate & I was all morning picking over beans. I got dinner & Ivard went after Kids & we ate.

I took Ivard to work & he cashed the Kids checks for me. I came home & bottled 7 qts cut up string beans and washed 3 batches of clothes.

Kids came home & Gene did chores & Ray cleaned up house & did dishes & fed Kids.

Gene & I went to town at 7:30 & got groc. then went over to Rail Road & sat until Ivard got off for lunch then we droped him off in town & we went & saw "Shaggy Dog" got out & went up & sat & visited until Ivard got off work.

Friday, July 17, 1959

sent Jerry a letter

Gene did chores & Ivard checked water & we ate then Gene & Ray got a job up above Bennett school. Ivard Jackie & I went & I got 2 cases of raspberries & we droped Ivard off to work on tractor. I came home & picked over rasp berries & Kids called they were comeing home for dinner so I hurried & fixed it. They went back to work & I dashed to town & got some food color to put in berries I bottled 28 qts, 3 didn't seal so we ate them. I called Ivard 2 or 3 times but he'd left Imp. place & from noon until about 6: He was at Stockma & at yard office

I cooked supper & we were just eating when he got home at 7: We went to bed & Ivard went to work at 11:30.

Thursday, July 16, 1959

Gene did chores & I got up & got Jackie ready & when Ivard got water checked we took him in to work on tractor, he came out at 2: & got a part & said he'd be about 3 more hrs.

I went & saw about rasp berries & went to Simplots & got my check, went to Bank & put dimes in savings then came to Nampa and got Deans birthday presents. I got home at noon & got Jackie to sleep & just laid down when Fuller Brush Man came & I ordered a few things.

Gene & Dean rode over to Bishop's new house to meet Ray & go swimming never got home until 5:30

I washed a batch clothes & cooked supper. At 6:30 Ivard called, didn't get tractor done so I went in & got hime & we ate.

Wednesday, July 15, 1959

sent Mother & Berniece a letter
got letter from Jerry.

Gene got up & went to Brysons & milked & changed water after he did our milking.

Ivard came home & set water in beets then he took tractor in to have new corn cultivator put on & wheel fixed. I had a bath & at 1:45 Kay drove Dean & I to Nampa in Pick-up & I signed up & we got feed & paid bills then we went over to see Ivard at implement & he wasn't there. I went to Stockman & he was playing cards he came with us & we got groc. & came home Gene went & did Brysons chores & Ivard checked water & did ours & I got supper & we ate at 6:30.

Ray left at 10: A.M. & took his scout trip money to Max Barlow's then went in to Mike Madisons & went to Rodeo with him & stayed all nite. Kay took Pick-up & went over to owyhee to Mutual & will stay with Gail & work at Shed. We all went over to Gails & saw new trailer, played Penochle, got home at 12: Ivards nite off.

Tuesday, July 14, 1959

I couldn't sleep all nite I was so sick. I got Gene & Ray up at 5:30 & they did chores & went over to Brysons to work. I went to sleep & never woke up until 10: Ivard was home & had finished cultivating beets he went to bed & I finished the iorning, 14 pieces, hung out sheets I washed last nite & got clothes in from yesterday.

Kids came home about noon & Ray got dinner & I went to bed after with Jackie & Ivard & Kay went to sleep & Kids went for bike ride Kay weeded flowers & Gene mowed lawn.

Cloudy all day. We got up at 5: Ivard built fruit shelves in basement didn't get them finished. I wrote a letter to Berniece & one to Mother. Ivard went to work at 11:30.

We went to bed early.

Monday, July 13, 1959

got letter from Lyle & Barbra

Ivard came home from work & cultivated beets until noon. Kay went over to see about work at Shed in Nampa then on over to Nyssa to Gails & got home at dark. Gene & Ray went over to Bryson's & weeded beans all day. I changed all the beds & washed 5 batches & cleaned my bed room good & made bed & Ivard bathed & went to bed. I cleaned front room good & moped Kitchen & cleaned wash room then I iorned all day 55 pieces. I fixed Kids luch at noon & Dean got Jackie to sleep & Dale slept in front room.

Kids came home & Ray cleaned upstairs & made beds & I fixed supper & we all went to bed earl. Ivard & Gene went to ball practice but came right back. no one showed up.

Ivard & Dean started watering beets. I was so tired & ached all over. Ivard went to work at 11:30.

Sunday, July 12, 1959

Ivard came home from work & came to bed. Gene did chores & Kay - Gene & Ray went to Priesthood Kay & Gene came home after & Ray stayed to sunday school & came home with Max.

I read paper & got dinner on to cook, made stuffed peppers.

Gene & Dean made a cake & I got books up.

We all had a nap this afternoon. Jackie & I had a bubble bath & got ready & Dean & Dale had one. Ivard cut Rays hair & we all went to church. Ray gave a talk.

Came home at 9: & went to bed & at 11:30 Ivard went to work & I got up & Kay & I watched a show on T.V.

Saturday, July 11, 1959

Gene got up & went over to Brysons to work at 5:30 & Ray milked. Ivard got home at 8:20 & checked water and went to bed. I cooked breakfast

Today Ray is 14. He did up dishes & cleaned Kitchen & bath then he rode his bike to Nampa & spent afternoon with Mike, the Bishop's son.

I cleaned music room & front room & washed 3 batches of clothes

Ivard got p & watched ball game

Ray came home at 4: & he & I & Kay & Gene went to town & got groc. Came home at 7: & fixed supper & Ivard did chores & checked water me, Gene, Ray Dean, Dale & Jackie went to "Terrace" Drive In & saw "Ten Commandments" got home at 1:50 & Ivard was to work. Kay had seen it twice & me once.

Friday, July 10, 1959

Ivard & Kids went out & did beets after they did chores & they ate. I mixed 5 loaves bread & a pan of biscuits & cooked dinner & we ate about 2: I washed some clothes & dampened clothes down. Ray did dishes. Kay worked on weeds in flower beds & trimmed hedge.

I didn't do anything this after noon. laid on bed & read a dumb sex book of Ivards.

Ivard, Jackie & I went to Nampa & got some lumber to make fruit shelves & got Rays bike we took in & had fixed for his birthday. came home & they checked water & did chores & at 8: Ivard & I & all the Kids but Kay went to Nampa Park to 70's party & water mellon bust. got home at 10: & Ivard laid down a hr. & went to work.

got letter from Berniece

Ivard got bumped & floated this afternoon. He'll be on midnights now. Kids went out & did beets, doubles, & Ivard Dale, Jackie & I went to Caldwell & Paid off Jack & Jerrys then we went to Rail Road then out to Elna's & bought 2 cases black caps for $6. then got groc. & 100 lbs sugar & came home & cooked liver & got dinner. Ivard went to work & Ray did dishes & we bottled 20 pts jam, 7 qts fresh & 2 qts in freezer.

I fixed Kids supper & Jackie & I went to bed early.

Ivard got home about midnight.

Wednesday, July 8, 1959

sent Jerry a letter & pkg.

I cooked breakfast & guys went out & did a few beets. I cleaned up & washed some clothes.

I cooked dinner & we ate & at 2:15 Kay & I went to Nampa & I signed for unemployment, had to sign in for new year.

Ivard followed us in and left Rays bike to be fixed & went to work.

Kay & I bought some grass shears, & hedge clippers & 5 new bread pans then we got a few groc. & came home.

Mrs. Bryson was here awhile this afternoon.

They came & side dressed our beets today.

I stayed up & watched T.V. until Ivard got home, he worked overtime.

went to post office & mailed Jerrys pkg.

Tuesday, July 7, 1959

I got up at 7:30 & cooked breakfast & got books up while Ivard checked water & Gene did chores.

cloudy & cool.

Ivard came in & got me at 9: I took car in to Dobbs to have front end alligned. We got feed & 2 end benches, on sale, for outdoor table, red wood.

They all watched all star game until noon & I cooked dinner & we ate then we went & got car & left pick up at work & went to Caldwell to see about tires at Jack & Jerrys then came back & Ivard went to work & I bought Jerry 2 pr. pajamas & 4 cans tooth powder & Rays birthday presents, shirt, clogs, swim trunks & 4 pr. socks. came home & wrote Jerry a letter

Watched T.V. until it went off air. Ivard worked over time.

Monday, July 6, 1959

got letter from Jerry

Gene did chores & Ivard checked water & I cooked breakfast then they all went out & pulled doubles out of beets but Kay, he wouldn't.

I changed all the bed & washed 5 batches. got my bed made & cooked dinner. I fixed 6 pkg. of beet greens & put in freezer.

Kay cleaned his bed room & made bed & I worked on books & got a bunch of payments ready to mail.

Ivard left for work at 3:30 & Ray did dishes & made rest of beds & cleaned upstairs.

at 5:30 Jackie, Dale & I took Dean card selling. got home at 8:30. he just sold 5 boxes.

sent Lyle a letter

Gene did chores & Ivard checked water & didn't get through in time so I took Gene & Ray in to Priesthood & sunday school & fast meeting. Kay got up early & went over to Owyhee Ward.

At 1: Ivard & I & little Kids went in & got Kids from church and I fixed dinner & we ate out on lawn.

Ivard & I & most of Kids had a nap this afternoon.

I wrote Lyle a letter this morning & we mailed it when we went after Kids.

At 7: Ivard & I went to Nampa & got a few groc. then we went to "Terrace" drive Inn & saw "Imitation of Life" real good another one too. got home at 1: Kay was home. Ivards nite off.

Saturday, July 4, 1959

We got up late. I got breakfast & Ivard & Kids listened to ball game & watched one on T.V. I cooked potatoes & made potatoe salad & washed 4 batches of clothes. at 2:30 we all went to Givins swimming. Came home at 5:30 and Gail - Lynda & Kids were here. We had a picnic supper out on lawn then we played 3 games of "Penochle"

Gene did chores & at 7: Kay left for Claudia's.

We all went to Caldwell to Fire works. Gail was going to stay all night but they didn't have any clothes for baby. We got home at 11: & got to bed.

Ivards nite off.

Kay got home about 12:30.

Friday, July 3, 1959

I came home from work and made some biscuits for breakfast. We had to call in at 8: tonite to see if we go to work, if not we are all done.

I went to bed at 9:30 & got up at 12:45 and cooked dinner

They finished hoeing beets today.

Ivard had a bath & left for work at 3:45.

Me - Ray - Dean & Dale went to Caldwell & had Int. drawn up on all our bank accounts & got groc. came to Nampa & got some more, $40. worth. got home at 7:30 & put groc. away & got books up.

Kids ate & at 8:30 & I called Simplots we are all done. I went to bed early I was so tired.

Thursday, July 2, 1959

I came home from work & went right to bed & Ivard & Kids got their own breakfast. Kids were out in beets & most of day, didn't quite get through.

Ivard did dishes & went to Nampa & got feed and a hair cut. I got up at 12:30 but laid down again I was so tired. Ray got dinner. I took Jackie & went back to sleep at 3: Ivard went to work at 3:30.

I got up at 5: & got books up & washed a couple of 3 batches of clothes.

Kay bathed & went ward teaching.

Gene did chores.

Dale went up to neighbors all afternoon.

I went to bed at 9: until time to go to work. Jackie slept with Ray.

Got letter from Lyle & Jerry
Lyle is promoted & has bought a new house, 3 bedroom

I came home from work & went right to bed.

Kids did beets & Ivard helped them & Kay cut lawn.

I got up at 11:30 & made a cake & cooked dinner & we ate at 2: & Ivard got Jackie to sleep & I run into Nampa & Paid Dales bike, signed for unemployment & got a few groc. Came home & laid down & Ivard left for work at 3:15. All the Kids had a nap but Ray & he did dishes & cleaned bathroom & scrubbed Kitchen. I couldn't sleep because Jackie woke up & Dale was up to neighbors & Kids went back out in beets. I got books up & went to bed at 5:30. but never did get to sleep again. I went to work at 11:
