Sunday, January 31, 1960

Foggy & misty all morning & sunny most of day. I came home & went right to bed. Ivard was already home & in bed. Gene did chores & was just about ready to go to Conference & Ray didn't have Max waite. Kids watched T.V & played games all day.

We got up at noon & read paper & I had some lemonade then went back to bed & took Jackie for nap. I didn't sleep much all afternoon.

Ray got home at 4:30 & Gene had supper ready sour Krut & wennies & chilli. We ate & watched T.V. & played games with kids. Went to bed at 8: until time to go to work. Cold & car windows were froze over.

got card from Lyle from Hawie

foggy comeing home. rained all nite & most of morning I went to bed after I read paper.

Ray fed guys hot cakes & did the work. & made chilli for supper.

Ivard & Gene took a little calf to sale at Caldwell at noon & got home about 4: & woke me up. Ivard bought me a new pr. of Jenes, 2 sizes smaller.

We ate at 4: & watched T.V. at 5:30 Ivard & Gene went in to Nampa to ball games. won They wanted me to go but I didn't feel like sitting so long.

They came home & got me at 10:30 & we both left early for work it was so foggy.

Friday, January 29, 1960

Kay called

sunny all day. thawed

I came home & read paper & Ivard took little boys to school. I went to bed at 9:30 & woke up at 3: but laid in bed until 4:30 when Gene & Ray came on bus. I fixed supper for Ivard & Gene & me & we ate & at 5: Ivard & Gene left for ball game. Gene plays in Caldwell. Ray fixed Kids supper & milked. I went to bed at 5:30 but never did get to sleep until about 9:

Kay called about 8: & said he needed some money.

I got up & got ready & left for work at 11: passed Ivard & Gene up on hill – real foggy

Thursday, January 28, 1960

Gene was 16 years old today. foggy until about noon.

I came home & took little Kids to school & read paper & had some juice then at 10: I went to bed & Ivard got up & tended Jackie.

At 3: I got up & when Ivard & Jackie got through bathing we went to town & got Gene some birthday presents, groc. & Gene a cake & icecream. We got Gene from practice & came home & made barbacue & fixed supper & Ivard milked and we ate & Ivard & Gene took Ray over to Middleton to play ball. I went to bed & got up at 10:30 & got ready for work.

Wednesday, January 27, 1960

sent Kay letter

Foggy nearly all day. I took little boys to school. Ivard came home & read paper & went to bed. I iorned all afternoon, 41 pieces.

Ivard got up at noon & ate & took Jackie to bed for her nap they got up at 4: I went & got little Kids.

Ray came home on bus & cleaned up & fixed supper. Gene drove pick-up to school & it was so foggy you couldn't see anything.

I wrote 10 page letter to Kay & Ivard mailed it at work

We ate & Jackie & I went to bed, shes a lot better today. I got up at 10:30 & Ivard & I went to work.

Tuesday, January 26, 1960

Foggy all morning & roads were ice. cleared off by noon. Ivard had car trouble & had to get a new coil before he could come home. He went to bed & I took little boys to school, dampened down cloths washed Genes basketball stuff & some sweaters & socks & the sheet batch.

Jackie still coughs her head off & has a feaver. Kept her down fixed dinner & read over my relief society lesson & at 1:30 I went in & gave it. got a few groc. & came home at 4: Ivard had gone after little boys. Ray came home on bus & got supper. We watched T.V. & Ivard did chores & went after Gene & never got home until 8:30, we'd eaten. I laid off again to tend Jackie.

Foggy all day – rained some & snowed a little.

Jackie coughed all nite & all day so at 1: Ivard got up & we took her in to Dr. Ross & got some medecine for 4.75. I washed cloths this morning & worked on my relief society lesson. I had a bath before we went to town. got groc. & had a tire fixed & came home by school & got Dean & Dale. We watched T.V. & I fixed supper & we ate then Ivard milked.

Ray stayed in to practice & Gene & went to Mutual I laid off to tend Jackie.

Sunday, January 24, 1960

foggy & cloudy.

Ivard came home & came to bed until 10: then he got up & took Gene & Ray to Priesthood. I ate after I fixed Ivards & they left. We got ready & at 11:30 me & little Kids went in to Sunday school. Came home & went to bed & read paper then I got up & Ivard went to sleep. I wrote to mother & got books up while Ray got dinner. We ate without Ivard, couldn't wake him up. I went to bed with Jackie & Ivard got up & took rest of Kids to church. he came home & slept an hr. & went to work. Gene & Ray stayed to Fireside & came home with neighbor.

I laid off – I feel terrible.

got letter from Lyle & Jerry

Ivard cleaned up our bed room & front room Didn't melt much but maine roads were beat off pretty good. I woke up at 10: & Kids were through eating. I ate & washed some cloths & at noon we went to Nyssa to see Gail & get Jackie. Me & Ray went up town & got some groc., good bargains, bannas 10 cents lb, hamberger 2 lbs for 58 cents. When we got back to Gails he was home from work & Lynda had dinner ready. We ate & they played games & watched T.V. We played 1 game of Penochle then Gail had to go to work at Station & we came home & had a snack & Gene did chores & him & Ivard went in to high school to game I went to bed, I didn't feel good my nite off. good to have Jackie home. Ivard brought Gene home & went to work.

Friday, January 22, 1960

It snowed during nite but roads weren't too bad. I came home & ate & read paper & Ivard took Kids to school. I don't go to work tonite or tomorrow nite but I'm so tired & don't feel good so I went to bed at 10: & when I woke up at 1: Ivard was gone. I worked on books & read Good Housekeeping & Readers digest. I went after little Kids at 3:30 & after Gene at 6: Ivards pick-up was in city Parking lot. I couldn't see him anywhere. came home & ate & watched T.V. went to bed at 10: & got up at 12: & at 12:30 I went to town hunting Ivard. his car was still in parking lot & so I parked in front of Stockman. When they shut off back lites at 1: AM. I left & pick-up was gone. came home & Ivard was in bed. he got called on breaking trip to Boise at noon & got back at 6: & spent rest of time in Stockman playing cards.

Thursday, January 21, 1960

cloudy most of day. I came home from work & took little boys to school. Ivard was home & in bed.

I ate & read paper & went to bed at 9:45. We woke up at 3:45 when phone rang. Ray Schulthies called from Rendalls. They came here & couldn't wake us up.

Ray came home on bus.

Dean & Dale got home from primary

Ivard took Ray in to church house to play ball at 6: & brought Gene home & Ray at 9:30. Him & Gene stayed & watched Ray play & the game after.

sunny & warmer.

I came home from work & Ivard got up & took Kids to school & I got ready & went in to Taylors & we went to Boise to Dr. I only lost 2 lbs. got home at noon & Ivard had gone to the sale with two calves then he took the money & put in bank. I went to bed after I ate & read paper.

Ivard got little boys & came home at 3:45 & came to bed. We got a Capitol Reserve check from dairy for $40. so I got up & Dean & I went to town & got some groceries & my pills. came home & ate. Ray made them waffles & cocoa.

We went to bed until ti,e to go to work.

little warmer - cloudy all day.

I came home from work & took little boys to school. Ivard was home in bed. I made some lemonade & read paper & went to bed at 10: Ivard got up at 11:30 & tended Jackie & they bathed.

I woke up too late to go to relief society.

Gene took pick-up to school & came home at 3: & I had supper ready & we ate then Ivard went after little Kids. & Gene went to school to play ball, got beat. Ivard took him. when Ray got home on bus they ate. I did a lot of patching.

Gail, Lynda & Kids came & brought a birthday cake with Lyle, Gail, Gene & Dales name on & they ate it when Ivard got home. They took Jackie home to stay a few days. went to bed until time to go to work.

Monday, January 18, 1960

got letter from Jerry

got down to 1 degree below, main roads were wore off pretty good.

I came home from work & took Kids to school. Ivard was already home & in bed.

Gene & Ray went to school in Pick-up.

I went to bed to get warm & never woke up until 3:30. vard had to get up & tend Jackie, They went after little boys. Ray came home on bus.

I washed a batch of cloths & dried one Ray had done. Dean put them away.

Ivard went to bed after he got Kids until 5:30 then he did chores.

Ray got supper.

Gene got home at 7:

We ate & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work Gene & Ray went to Mutual with Max. 4 degrees at 8: then clouded up & got warmer

Sunday, January 17, 1960

Roads were icy I came home & Ivard was in bed. Gene had chores done & breakfast ready. I went to bed. Gene & Ray went to Priesthood with Max & at 11: I got up & got Jackie ready & Ivard took little Kids to sunday school. I read paper & went back to bed. Ray stayed in to Kotters but he put a roast on before he left so I got up at 2: & cooked potatoes & made gravy & fixed string beans & celery & we ate & Ivard & I went to bed & Gene & Dean did dishes.

Ivard was so late getting home from sunday school (2:) because he had a flat with spare I put on last nite & so he went & bought 2 new tires. Gene did chores & at 7: Ivard & I got up & we all went to church. Gene & Ray stayed to Fireside. we came home & laid down a hr. &  went to work.

snowed on us all the way home & most off day but not too heavy.

I went right to bed & Ivard got up & at 10:30 he went to Sale at Caldwell & never got home until 4:30.

Mrs. Barlow came & got Dean at 1:30 & he went up to her place & ate & went sleigh rideing all afternoon, never got home until after dark. Ray cleaned house & washed about 5 batches & got supper. I stayed in bed all day but didn't sleep much, Kids were too noisy. ate & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work. Roads were real icy & we left early. I had a flat tire just as I got to Karture junction & time I got through to where I could stope the tire was wrecked. Melvine stoped & helped us & Don. got there just as whistle blew.

I came home & took little boys to school. read paper & got ready & we went to Nampa & got Ivards check & paid bills & got a few groc. came home at 1: & I went to bed. woke up at 5:50.

Ray came home on bus & read until I got up. Gene took pick up to school & he got home early. Ivard & Jackie went & got little boys from school. Ray got supper & Gene did chores & we ate then Ivard & Gene went ward teaching.

I got books up & wrote to Kay. I went back to bed until time to go to work.

Dale was 8 yrs old today.

started to snow about noon not too much. I came home & took Kids to school, Ivard was home & in bed. I read paper & went to bed. Guy came & fixed T.V.

Ivard got me up at noon & we went to town & got car & Pick-up licence & some groc. & birthday presents for Dale & ordered him a cake. took some cup cakes to school for Kids in his room. came home & all went to bed at 2:30. got up at 5: & put supper on & Ivard went in to get Gene & Ray passed hand bills. Dean & Dale got home from primary with Ivard & Kids.

We ate & Gene did chores & I went back to bed until time to go to work.

Sunny all day

I came home & took little boys to school & made me some lemonade & read paper. Ivard was home in bed. Jackie & I wentt o bed at 10: & at 1:30 Ivard & Jackie got up & had a bath & at 3:30 they went & got Kids.

Ray came home on bus & cleaned house. I got up at 4: & put ham roast on & fixed celery & Ray put on potatoes pease & cauliflower.

I washed some cloths & wrote a 10 page to Jerry so Ivard can mail it at work. Ivard did chores & went after Gene & we ate. Ward teachers came

Ivard & I went to bed at 9: until time to go to work.

Tuesday, January 12, 1960

It snowed a little during nite & the roads were glass. took me an hr. to come home. I took Kids to school late. Ivard was home & in bed. I didn't go to relief society

I read paper & Jackie & I went to bed. Ivard got up & tended her when she woke up. He went after Kids at 3:30.

I got up at 4: & got books up.

sunny & wind all day, melted roads off.

I washed some cloths.

Ray came home on bus & got supper. We ate after Ivard did chores then he went in to school & got Gene.

I don't feel very good. We went to bed until time to go to work.

Had letter from mother

cloudy but thawed. roads were icy comeing home. I took Kids to school & read paper & sorted cloths & put a batch in & went to bed. Ivard & I took turns tending them & we did 4 batches.

I was sick all nite & today.

had letter from mother, Berniece lost her baby at 4 1/2 month along.

Ray did dishes & made beds & went to Mutual with Max & Gene went to Mutual after practice & came home with them we all went to bed early & Gene & Ray got us up to go to work. rained tonite. roads weren't bad going to work.

Ray & Dean went to church & fireside. Gene wouldn't go because they were late. They came home at 10:20 & said roads were glassy so we left early. They were really slippery.

cloudy & sunny not too cold.

I fixed bacon & Ray made must & toast & we ate & Dean went in to church with Mrs. Barlow to help clean up. I iorned all day, did 55 pieces had two batches of mint lemondade today. Ivard watched ball games.

Ray cleaned up the house & made pop corn & got supper.

At 5:30 Ivard & Gene went in to ball games at high school. Played Borah & got beat. I iorned awhile then went to bed.

Ray did dishes & milked them him & Dean bathed.

We washed cloths.

Ivard came home at 10: & got ready & went to work.

My nite off. The plant was down.

Friday, January 8, 1960

warm wind - thawed all day

I cooked breakfast & Ivard milked & Ray bathed & Kids ate & went to school, Ivard took little boys I cooked sausage & made biscuits

Ivard did dishes & I washed my sheets, bed spread & rugs & Ivard & I moved everything & cleaned our bed room real good.

I dampened down cloths.

Ivard went & got little boys & Ray came home on bus. Gene stayed in to school because they had to be there at 5: to go to Boise to play, got beat. Ray cleaned & changed front room

Ivard peeled potatoes & I cooked them, enough for 45 people, then he did chores & I had a bath then we got ready & went in to church to Stake 70's supper.

I laid off again & it was Ivards nite off. We went over to high school at 10:30 & waited until 11: for Gene.

Started to snow at 4: A.M & snowed all day long. about 8 in's here.

I came home from work & Ivard was home in bed. I took little boys to school & read paper & went to bed at 10: Ivard got up & tended Jackie & washed 2 batches of cloths. He went after Kids at 2: didn't have school this afternoon, teachers meeting. They woke me up & I couldn't sleep again. at 3: Ivard went in to Nampa to help Jenkins, a guy he works with, put in a new sink. He picked Gene up at 7: from Practice. Ray came home on bus & cooked supper & we ate when Ivard & Gene came & Gene did chores I didn't feel good & too much snow so Ray called in & laid me off. Ivards nite off.

Wednesday, January 6, 1960

snowed a little, early this morning & again tonite out here.

I came home from work & got Ivard up & he took little boys to school & I hurried & got ready & went in to Taylors & went with her & Mrs Newland to Boise to Dr. Cudmore. I lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks & 2 ins off my bust, hips & waist each. roads were slippery. Boise had more snow. I came home at 1: & Ivard had dishes done some washing & the house all cleaned. Ivard, Jackie & I went to bed & Ivard got up & went after Kids. He did chores & I went after Gene in Snow storm. got home at 8: We went to bed & so did Kids & didn't wake us up at 11:10 just as rail road called to see where he was. It was 11:20 when I left. I got there just as they were going out to work. roads were dry when I got to Nampa.

Sunny until this afternoon then it clouded up. Cold.

I came home from work & Ivard was home & in bed. I took little boys to school & read paper & went to bed. Ivard got up & him & Jackie went to Caldwell to sign up for beets but she was so naughty he brought her home at noon & went back, had to waite in line for hrs. he never got home until 8:10, waited for Gene

I woke up too late to go to relief society. got up at 3: & had some lemon ade & went after kids. Ray came home on bus. & cooked supper & I got my books up. We ate & went to bed until time to go to work.

Got down to 2 degrees this morning sunny & cold.

I came home & Ivard was home & in bed. I took Kids to school & ate & read paper & sorted cloths & washed 3 batches & wrote mother a big letter. Ivard got up at 1:30 & him & Jackie went in to bank & I went to bed. They woke me up at 3:30 & I iorned the rest of cloths 29 pieces Ray came home on bus & fixed supper & Ivard took him in to church at 5:45 to go to Middleton & play ball - got beat. I let Dean do pillow slips & I had a bath & went to bed at 8:30. when Ivard got home with Gene & he came to bed too. Gene did chores & ate.

Sunday, January 3, 1960

started to snow at 6: A.M but wasn't much. sun came out & melted it. I came home & Ivard was home in bed. I got ready & Ivard & kids & I went to priesthood sunday school & fast meeting. We got home about 1:30 & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work. Ray got dinner & when I woke up at 7: Gene had done chores & him & Ray had gone in to Stake house with Max to a special Fireside. President McKay talked to them by direct wire from Salt Lake for 1/2 hr. They got home at 9:

Got letter from Jerry

Sunny but cold. I came home from work & Kay said to hurry & iorn his cloths he was leaving at 10: I iorned his 15 shirts & helped him pack but it was noon before Bob, Fran & Claudia came & got him.

Ivard cut all the kids hair & at 10:he took Gene in to play basketball & he went & had car greesed & oil change & new filter & had transmission oil changed. He got Kays watch out of repaire & met him just coming into Nampa & gave it to him.

Ray cleaned house & they took down Xmas tree. He got supper & I got up & ate & went back to bed until time to go to work.

Friday, January 1, 1960

Sunny but cold wind all day. I came home from work at 8:30 & Ivard was home in bed & I went to bed with him. Ivard got home from his breaking trip to Nyssa at 6: A.M, earned $72.

Ivard got up & played games with kids & watched Rose bowl game. Ray got home at 1: & he cleaned his bed room good.

I got up at 3: & cooked a pot roast & veg. & we ate at 5:30.

I washed a batch of socks & another batch of cloths and dampened down the iorning.

Ivards day off.

Kay went over to Claudias at 1:30 & got home at 1: A.M.

I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivard watched T.V. with kids.
