Got letter from Kay

Came home from mountains.

It was colder last nite, could wipe dew off our covers. something scared a horse away, probably a bear, in nite.

We ate breakfast & Elaine & I went swimming at 10: with Kids. Ivard & Lenore were rideing up & down canyon for 3 hours hunting horse & found him. We got out of swimming when they got back & Dean & I were burned bad.

We ate lunch, did dishes & acked & we left for home at 5:30. Jackie felt quite a bit better today. she went swimming this morning.

We got home at 9:30 & Ray had house all scrubbed & waxed. We got to bed my back sure hurts.

Thursday, June 29, 1961

It was so cool & nice. I woke up at 4:30, Jackie was real sick & vomited on & off all day. Dale & I got up at 6:30 & built a bon-fire to get Jackie warm - she sat wraped in blankets all day. Atwell & Dick got breakfast for all of us (21).

Kids went swimming twice fishing, hikeing - rode horses & played games. I sat with Jackie & played games with Kids. roasted marshmallows on fire after supper & played games around camp fire.

Ivard, Lenore & I rode horses for awhile.

Ivard & I & all the Kids went to bed at 9:30 & Perrys & Smalls went swimming. I was cold & Jackie didn't want me to go.

Wednesday, June 28, 1961

Got letter from Mother

Went to Silver Creek camping

I took Jerry & Ray to work.

I washed cloths & packed all morning ready to go to Canyon. I washed my hair & had a bath.

Ivard had to go to Dr. & rail road about his Ins. when he came home at 1: we went & got groc. & I signed up for unemployment & at 3: we left for Nyssa & borrowed Gail's 2 sleeping bags & air mattress's & 2 fishing poles & went up to "Silver Creek Canyon," 25 miles above Croutch & met Atwell Perry, wife & Kids & Smalls. Got there at 8: & They gave us supper. We all camped together & ate together 21 of us. We took Dean - Dale & Jackie. We made our beds under stars & got Kids to bed & at 10:30 P.M we went up to pool, natural hot water, & Atwell, Elaine - Dick, Lenore, Dickie & I went swimming until midnite. Ivard watched. They had their 3 horses too.

Tuesday, June 27, 1961

I fixed lunches for Jerry & Ray & made waffles & Ray milked & Jerry picked peas. They ate & I took them to work & we got gas & got pick-up. Ray couldn't start it so we came & got Ivard & he pulled it & Ray went to work.

Dean & Dale hoed & picked some cherries & changed my bed & washed 3 batches. Dean did dishes & passed hand-bills for Mike Taylor.

I fixed 4 qts peas & put in freezer. Gail - Lynda & Kids came awhile. We ate after they left & Ivard & I Dean, Dale & Jackie went to Terrace Drive in & saw "Pepe" after Ivard & Dale came from Dales ball game. Ray went out to Max's to do church beets tonite - Jerry didn't feel good & went to bed early.

Monday, June 26, 1961

read paper & took Jerry & Ray to work. fixed Kids breakfast & changed beds in Ray's room & washed 4 batches & Dean cleaned their room. I cleaned up house & had a shower & at 11:15 Dean & I took Ivard to Dr. & left him & we went & got Mike Perry birthday present & Ray 3 white shirts for his.

At 3: we took Dean over to Mike's birthday party, went Swimming at Park & Ivard & I & Dale, Stanley Terry & Jackie went to Nyssa to Gails, had supper & elft for home 9: Dean was home alone. Jerry & Ray went to Mutual & never got home until 2: A.M went to show, ran out of gas by church & left pick-up & walked home.

Joe Metcalf & his father-in-law came after Kids but they didn't want to go. stayed about hr.

Sunday, June 25, 1961

Dean milked. I read paper in bed then got up & worked on my books.

Ray made a cake & Dean & I iced it. Ivard - Jerry & Ray went to Priesthood. Dale - Stanley & Terry had a bath & I got them ready for sunday school in some of Jackie's new boy pants. Ray brought Ivard home & took Kids to sunday school.

I cooked dinner & we ate at 2:30. Jerry & Ray brought Kids home & went to Stake house to meeting.

Gail, Lynda & Kids came & brought watermellon, they got home from trip last nite. They went home at 8: Jerry - Ray & Dean went to church & brought Dean home after & went to Fireside.

Ivard & I got Kids to bed & watched T.V.

Gene went to church at Owyhee ward all meetings - blessed Sacrament.

Saturday, June 24, 1961

got letter from Louie

Ray did chores & took Jerry to work on his way to work.

I washed 4 batches of cloths, 3 of rugs, cleaned set & washed off woodwork & scrubbed Kitchen & front room.

Jerry got home at 1: & we played a game of scrabble.

Ivard, Dale, Stanley & Terry got home from Idaho City at 2: & Ivard took Beesley home. We played Scrabble & watched T.V. Perrys brought Dean home from Idaho City 6: & got their boy.

Jerry got supper & we ate when Ray got home at 6:30. Dean did dishes & Ray milked. Jerry & I went & got groc.

got Kids to bed at 9: & watched T.V. Ivard went to bed at 10: it was 1: A.M when I went.

Gene didn't come home tonite.

Friday, June 23, 1961

sent Claudia graduation card.

Awful hot. I don't feel good.

Dean milked & Ray & I took Wally's truck & trailer home. Ivard took Jerry to work, Ray went when we got home.

We packed car & had lunch & played a game of Scrabble & at 1:30 Atwell came & brought Beesley & he drove our car & took Ivard, Dean Dale, Stanley & Terry to Idaho City to church Camp for Stake Fathers & Sons outing.

I washed some cloths (3 batches) & iorned & watered lawn.

Barbra came to get Kids, stayed a little while, said she'd come after them next week.

Jerry bought hambergers for supper & froze a freezer of icecream. Ray did chores.

I watched T.V. late & Jerry Ray & Jackie went to bed.

Thursday, June 22, 1961

sent Claudia Birthday card & Ivard wrote her letter.

Gene got up & unloaded truck & left for Nyssa at 6: A.M. Ivard went out & tacked bottom layer, hoping around on one crutch & Ray sat & watched him.

I took Jerry to work. Ray finally got pick-up trailer unloaded & went to work.

I don't feel good. This afternoon Ivard took Dean, Dale - Jackie Stanley & Terry up to Lake View Park swimming. I had a nap & got supper.

I washed some cloths & iorned.

Got Kids to bed & watched T.V.

Wednesday, June 21, 1961

relief society went up to church camp all day. I didn't feel like it.

I took Jerry to work & cleaned up & washed a few things.

Ray laid off work today & Gene & they went out & borrowed Wallys big truck & trailer for back of pick-up & they hauled one double load & I had dinner ready & we ate then they went & got another then Kurt came & helped them with 3rd load. They didn't get 3rd one unloaded. They hauled 700 bales. They got it off our old place. Hennis gave it to us on our deal.

I went & signed up for unemployment & got groc. & had supper ready on lawn when Kids came then we all went up to Lakeview Park but no one showed up & Kids just practiced & Gene went to show with Kurt & Larry. We went down to Kurtz Park & watched Dale bet beat then back & Ivards team got beat.

Jerry went with missionaries.

Tuesday, June 20, 1961

awful hot.

Ivard spent most of day out on lawn with Kids, in his swing.

I took Jerry & Ray to work

I washed cloths & cleaned house good. Dale went to Cub Scouts

Dean, Stanley & I went up town & got Jackies pictures, they were good. Got some lath at Stones to put screen on windows got groc., came home & Ivard & I took Dean, Dale, Jackie, Stanley & Terry up to Lake view Park & they went swimming in little pool. Came home & ate & Ivard & Terry went to Stake M.I.A. meeting.

Got Kids to bed & watched T.V. Ray went out & got some hay.

Gene came home late & went to bed - He's going to haul our hay tomorrow.

Monday, June 19, 1961

Stanley & Terry came to stay

I took Jerry & Ray to work

I changed beds & washed all morning.

Got ready & took Ivard up to Doctor, I read D.C. while he was in Dr. We went up town & paid phone & got stamps & got a few groc. & took a gal of root beer home & we had it with our lunch.

finished washing & got cloths in & helped Dean make beds.

Played Scrabble with Ivard

We ate & Ray went to Mutual at Pinsters. Jerry didn't have any Mutual. Ivard, Jackie & I took Dale to Lincoln Park to his first little legue game. Got beat, didn't play whole game, too many Kids.

When we came home Barbra had come & left Stanley & Terry for week.

Sunday, June 18, 1961

Gene did chores & I washed 2 batches of cloths for him. Ivard Jerry - Gene & Ray went to Priesthood & sunday school.

I put roast on & washed my hair & had a bath & me & little Kids went to sunday school. Came home at 1:45 & Jerry went to Stake meeting & dinner at Wilsons.

Ivard & I played a game of scrabble

Gene & Ray went & got Kurt & went out to our old place & got our milk cooler.

Ray did dishes & Jerry helped Dean do chores.

Gene went back to Nyssa at 6: & go to church at Owyhee. I got books up.

Gave Ivard barbacue & picnic cooler for fathers day.

Jerry - Ray - Dean & Dale went to church. Ivard's leg bothers him when he sits in church & can't put it up.

We watched T.V.

Claudia sent Ivard card & note for fathers day

Jerry went to work in car. Ray did chores & went in Pick up.

I changed my bed & washed 2 batches. Dean cleaned bed rooms & scrubbed Kitchen & bath while I wrote Kay, missed mail man. When Ray came home for lunch we went up to Wards & got a lawn swing & chaise lounge for Ivard for Fathers Day, came home & set it up & sat out all afternoon. Barbra & her Dad came all afternoon & we sat & watched Kids play in tub of water. Ray went buming off instead of going to work. Jerry went & worked for Boss's wife. Awful dust storm came up for few min. We played "Penochle" & Jerry got supper & we ate on lawn. At 7: Joe Barbra & Kids went home & Ivard & I took Ray to Kotters to go to Jelopy races. Jerry went to show. We watched T.V. until it went off air. Barbra called Lyle & I talked to him Gene came home at 12:45.

Friday, June 16, 1961

Stanley & Terry came & stayed all nite.

Got letter from Kay

I took Jerry to work, Ray wasn't through milking, he went in Pick-up.

Dean & Dale picked strawberries & 5 cups of cherries so I could make pie. Ivard went out to see about milker & fell down in mud & hurt his leg he went to bed most of day.

I washed 2 batches cloths.

Dean & I went to Caldwell & put Rays money in bank & took Stamp books & got a barbacue & icebox for Ivard for fathers day (to go up mountains) came back to wards & bought a swing & chaise lounge for lawn for Ivard to get out side where its cool. Got groc. & root beer & got Jerry from work & came home & got supper.

Barbra had brought Stanley & Terry over & left until tomorrow. We ate on lawn.

I went over to Perrys with Fay to get Scout bars (to sell) & Put in freezer.

Thursday, June 15, 1961

sent Louie a letter

100 degrees in Nampa

read paper & took Jerry & Ray to work. Fixed breakfast & Dean did dishes & little Kids went to Primary. I made a batch of dough for Dale to take to Primary to make maps, ect.

Ivard & I played Scrabble then we went & got Kids and Ivards check. Came home & ate and at 1:30 I took Jackie to Superior Western & had her a Pixie hair cut & Ivard & Dale went to barber shop & had their hair cut. Went to bank & paid bills. Came home & played Scrabble & washed a batch of cloths, worked on books. Wrote Louie this morning.

Cooked supper & Jerry made a freezer of icecream. Ray came home & him Dean & Dale went out to Hennis's & got load of hay. We ate & Ray went back to clean presses & Dean milked.

Jerry & Ray went ward Teaching

We had ward teachers

Watched T.V. until it went off air.

Wednesday, June 14, 1961

sent Mother letter

Gail left on vacation to Yellowstone Park

Hotter.

I got up & read awhile. I took Jerry & Ray to work & made waffles & fed little Kids.

Dean spent 2 1/2 hrs. typing a genelogy history. I was all morning writeing a 16 page letter to Mother.

The neighbor helped Ivard with his water turn & I took them down to maine headgate on Utah Ave.

At 1:30 I laid down with Ivard & Jackie, after lunch.

Dale went out to Smalls to Cub Scouts at 1:30 & at 2:20 Dean & I went up town & I signed for unemployment then we took cloths to cleaners, had Jerrys shoes fixed, went to Dobbs & had hand brake fixed & breaks adjusted got feed & groc. & went & had a cool.

Came home & fixed supper & at 7:00 we all went up to Lakeview Park & watched Ray get beat by Caldwell in soft ball. Jerry went to Wilsons. Came home & had icecream & went to bed.

Tuesday, June 13, 1961

started to Read Book of Mormon

Ray milked & Jerry made lunches & I took Jerry & Ray to work.

Dean made waffles & I cooked them & we ate and I took Ivard up to yard office to sign up for sickness benefit then we went to bank & got gas & came home.

Ivard played chess with Kids & I hunted up his Ins. polocies then I played Scrabble with him & Dean fixed us punch & sandwiches for lunch. At 1:30 Dean went over to Mike Perrys for afternoon; he had to go to store & get bread before he fixed lunch.

Ray came home at 3:30 & had to go back tonite again. Ray Picked berries, got 2 qts in freezer & bowl to eat.

I got supper & we ate & Ivard & I took Dale over to Lincoln Park to Play ball he went home with Perks. We went to Stake House to genelogy meeting & went & had a cool after.

Monday, June 12, 1961

Ivard broke his foot.

Lyle went back to California.

Dean milked & I took Ray & Jerry to work.

Ivard came home from work & when he got out of pick up his foot slipped off the running board and hurt his foot he went to bed until noon then we went to Dr at 2: & he exrayed it & his foot was broke & he put it in cast. I had to go up to drug store & got crutches & come back & still waite. We were from 2: until 5:30.

I changed beds and washed 7 batches of cloths today.

We ate and Ray did chores & he took Jerry to Mutual & he went out to Pinsters to Scout meeting. Dean did dishes & we made beds. Kids went to bed & Ivard & I watched T.V. until it went off the air.

I went & got feed while Ivard was in Dr., his foot doesn't hurt to bad, he has a cask clear up to his knee.

Sunday, June 11, 1961

Lyle came

Jerrys birthday. He was 23. I ate & put a roast on & Dean & I made a cake then I picked over strawberries & put 2 qts in freezer & had enough for 2 batches of icecream, we made this afternoon.

Jerry & Ray went to priesthood, Ivard was asleep. He got up & went to sunday school with me & little Kids. When we came home Lyle Barbra & Kids were here, Lyle came up yesterday & goes back tomorrow. Barbra & Kids have been up over a week they are going to live up here and Lyle will stay in air force.

We got dinner ready while Ivard froze 2 freezers of icecream & we ate out on lawn & opened presents.

Ray & Jerry went to church.

Lyle left at 10: & Ivard went to work at 10:45. Gene didn't come home this week, went to Baker to play ball this morning.

Jackie had Picture taken

Took Jerry & Ray to work.

I washed some cloths and at 10:30 Dale, Jackie & I went and got some presents for Jerry then went to Caldwell & got him a chess game with S&H Green Stamps. Came back & paid bills & got groceries & came home at 1:30.

Went to Wards & had Jackies picture taken when we first went to town, 6 poses.

Ivard came home from work & did chores & was in bed all morning.

I went back up town & got Jerry a hand tuled leather wallet.

Ivard went out to Bob Harris & baled jay at 1: until 7:

Jerry made a meat pie & I made biscuits on it then he picked berries. We ate and Ivard, Jerry & I showered & Ivard & I took Jerry to "Gone with the Wind." Ray came home from work & made a freezer of icecream for supper.

Friday, June 9, 1961

Ivard came home and milked & went to bed. I got up & took Jerry & Ray to work.

I washed a batch of cloths and iorned most of day.

Played a game of Scrabble with Kids.

Dean did chores & Jerry made salad while Ivard & I took Dale over to Lincoln Park to sign up for "little legue" ball at 7: P.M. We got groc. and came home & made a freezer of icecream & ate supper late.

We watched T.V. and Kids went to bed.

Thursday, June 8, 1961

Ivard took Jerry & Ray to work when he went to work, he milked.

Me & little Kids ate & cleaned up and at 9:40 Kids, Dale & Jackie, went to Primary with Mrs. Chaney. Dean rode his bike over to Perks for primary. I went & got feed & got flat tire on car fixed.

I typed genelogy histories all after noon (5 hrs).

I cooked stuffed peppers for supper, potatoes & califlower with cheese sauce & we had straw berries & cream, the Kids picked berries after primary.

flooded lawn & when Ivard came he watered berries & garden then put it in pasture.

We ate when Ray & Jerry came & Ivard took Ray up to church to go to Homedale at 7: to play ball, got beat. At 8: Ivard & I picked up 3 men & went. We didn't start until 9:40 We beat Homedale, got home at 11:40 & Ivard went to work 10 min. late.

Wednesday, June 7, 1961

Cooler

Ivard milked & I took Jerry & Ray to work.

I washed 3 batches of clothes & cleaned & scrubbed all thru house.

Dean cleaned bathroom & moped Jerrys room & helped me make beds.

Ivard finished cleaning garage, went & got gas & him & Dean mowed lawn.

At 1: the Cub Scouts came for their meeting. When they left at 2:25 Ivard & Jackie took me up to sign for unemployment & we had a cool & got groceries. Dean milked.

Ivard went to work at 4: I cooked supper & we ate when Ray & Jerry came. Ray got paid, $24. for week. I took Ray out to Pinsters for his piano lesson & scout meeting & had a flat tire comeing back up by 12th. Dale saw me & came up on bike & went down & got Mr. Sullivan to come & fix it. Dean & I went up to Lakeview Park to ball game but it was so wet they came down to Kurtz. Ivard left work & came & played at 9: but started at 9:45. We got beat 13 to 0.

Tuesday, June 6, 1961

Ivard came home & did chores & went to bed until 2:

I typed genelogy for 6 hrs.

Dean & Dale picked 6 cups of strawberries & tonite when Ray came from work he picked 5 more.

Cooler today almost cold tonite, breeze.

I took Jerry & Ray to work this morning.

Ivard went to store & brought Jerry home from work. I stired up a freezer of strawberry icecream & Jerry froze it after he made two trips to store for ice & salt.

I made lunch meat & grated cheese & sweet pickle sandwiches, & we had pork & beans & lime jello with carrots, pineapple & celery. & icecreame for supper.

Ivard - Jerry & I all had a shower & went to ward leadership meeting. got home at 10:

Ivard didn't work today.

Monday, June 5, 1961

Jerry woke me up to take him to work so I took him & Ray. Ivard had got up & milked. Dean fixed hot cakes & I gathered up cloths & washed 3 batches.

At 9: Ivard & I went up to Wards & got a new tire for $3: for one we wrecked & had to go have rim fixed for $3.50. left Icecream freezer to be welded & paid Gene's car, got feed payments. Got home at noon & Ray came & we fixed lunch & ate & he walked back to work & Ivard & all little kids & I laid down & had nap. I got up in little while & worked on books & typed some more genelogy.

I read about 40 pages of D.C. while Ivard was doing the business up town.

Ivard went to work at 4: & came home at 11:, got off early & went back to work at midnite, (doubled). We watched T.V.

Cooked supper & stirred Jerry up a freezer of ice cream he & Ray took to Mutual went & got freezer at 5:

Sunday, June 4, 1961

Hot.

Ivard got up & did chores. Gene came home & got ready & went to church at 2nd Ward with Larry, him & Kurt, then he went back to Nyssa at noon so he could play ball for American Legion. Kurt & Larry drove over too.

Ivard - Jerry & Ray went to priesthood & Dean Dale & I played Scrabble. I bathed Jackie & we went to sunday school & sacrement meeting & Ivard came home, he was first out & was just leaving for work when we got home at 2:30. I got dinner & we ate. Ivard came home & ate at 7: & stayed half jr. & got off at 9: & came home.

no church, Tonks came to see Jerry about Mutual & me & Kids went to bed. I got up when he left & watched T.V. with Ivard & Jerry went to bed.

I read D.C. for awhile.

Saturday, June 3, 1961

Gene made 61. his first week.

Cloudy & cool

Jerry went to work & we ate & Dean cleaned up his bed room & mine & I washed cloths.

Ivard & I had a fight over nothing. I don't know what's wrong. He got called out brakeing for 12:30 to Weiser, he got home at 1:05 A.M.

Jerry came home at noon & took Dean over to work in Boss's yard with him for awhile.

I cleaned up house & typed genelogy for 4 hrs, Ivard & Ids picked 5 cups strawberries this morning.

I went to store & got groc. & we & Jerry & Dean milked.

Gene came at 7:30 & went to see Kurt & Jerry & I took his car & went & cashed his check. for him & went & had a cool on him. He was back when we got back & he went with Kurt & Larry. He came at midnite & said he was going to sleep to Larrys all nite. Ray got home from scout trip at 11:, won blue ribbon (troop) I watched T.V. until it went off the air.

Friday, June 2, 1961

Nice day - stormy this evening

I took Jerry to work & Ray walked.

Ivard did chores & loaded pig to take to be killed for freezer then he cut the bull calves. Kids help.

I washed a batch of wet beds.

They took Kays bull down to neighbors pasture & Ivard fixed screen door & him & Kids started cleaning garage all afternoon. I iorned all afternoon.

Ray came home at noon & got ready & went to Idaho City for scout camporee. He's assistant scout master.

I played scrabble with Ivard & Kids. We went to bank at 5:30 & got Jerry & he bought us some groc. came home & I had a bath & Ivard did chores & showered & we went to Boise & had Chinese dinner & went to show "Return to Peyton Place" I thought it would help to get out by ourselves but Ivard never said a word all the way home. only "you wouldn't know what happened if that hit you" when a fast train went by at Merridian crossing.

Nice most of day - rained this evening a little.

Ivard did chores & went to work for 7:

I took Jerry & Ray to work at 7:50.

At 9:30 I took Kids to Primary. Dean went to Stake House all day to camporee.

I came home & made 4 dz. cookies & a bowl of Jello and washed 4 batches of cloths then at 11:30 I went & got Ray at work & went & got Dale and Jackie from Primary & we took Ray up to Scout office & to Post office then back to work. I scrubbed & cleaned up house good.

Dale & I played 1 game of Scrabble.

Ivard got off at 3: & at 6: I called Stockman & told him to go get Jerry from work. I'm getting so mad at him.

We ate & Ray came about 7: & he ate & went out to Pinsters for his Piano lesson. We watched T.V. Jerry wrote letters.
