Sunday, May 31, 1959

We got up & ate & Ivard, Kay Gene & Ray went to Priesthood little Kids & I had a bath & we went to sunday school in Pick up.

Came home at 12:30 & fixed quick baked beans & fruit cocktail while Ray made some cookies & we ate at 2:00. We laid down for an hr. & Ivard went to work floated, he was bumped.

got Jackie to sleep. I washed 2 batches of clothes & dried one in dryer & got put away, saved the other to hang in morning.

Gene did chores & Kay - Gene & Ray went to church & Fireside little Kids went to bed early & I watched T.V until it went off the air. Ivard got home about 10: & Kids came right after. They all went to bed but me & Kay.

Saturday, May 30, 1959

Kids got up early & did beets & I got up & fixed a good breakfast & we ate about 9:30. then I washed 5 batches of clothes, made 2 lemon pies & 2 crusts & made macaroni salad & barbacue & Kids came in about 3: & we ate out on lawn. Had a big Kettle of punch. Kay went over to Claudia & the Kids played croquet.

Gene did chores.

Ivard got bumped & we rode in to see the board.

Ivard didn't work.

Friday, May 29, 1959

sent Jerry 14 page letter

Ivard, Kay, Gene, Ray & Dean thinned beets I came from work & made hot cakes, sorted clothes & washed 2 batches & went to bed.

Simplots went down but they are going to run a small line next week & I got on it.

I got up at 1:30 & got dinner & washed another batch of clothes & at 3: Ivard & I took Kay to Adrian to ball practice - got feed in Adrian, stoped in Nampa & got groc.

I wrote to Jerry while they practiced got home at 7:

I went to bed early with Ivard & He went to work at 11:30.

Thursday, May 28, 1959

I came home from work & went to bed. Ivard did chores & him & Gene & Dean thinned beets & Kay cultivated them. I got up at 11: & Ivard - Gene & I took Kay to Adrian to regional play off. We beat St Joseph 5 to 1. Went over to Ad's & Kids got all their clothes then we went over to Blanch's to see about Lynda & she was there, they'd just brought her home from hospital. Gail & Kids were there too. We visited awhile & Kay went over to Claudias. We got home at 6: & Laurence & Afton had been over. Ray had supper ready & had been after a load of hay. We ate & I went to bed. Gene did chores & Ivard & Kids did beets. Ray went on hay ride with school class & never got home until 1: I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivards nite off.

Wednesday, May 27, 1959

I came home from work (Passed Ivard on his way back in to get cultivator Parts) & took Kids to school for last day. They all got promoted. I made potatoe salad & baked beans to take to school picnic & went to bed. Kay woke me up at 1:, to late for picnic & Ivard wasn't home yet. I called Imp. place & he'd left at 10:30 so I went to Nampa & found him in Stockman's playing cards. I was so mad I came home & went to bed at 3: & never got up until time to go to work.

Ivard got home about 4:30

Kay went to Adrian to play ball (practice) & went to Mutual over to owyhee. Ray went to Mutual. Kids did a few beets

Tuesday, May 26, 1959

Ray graduated

Came home from work & took Ray & Dale over to Grange Hall to practice & get it ready for graduation while we waited I took Dean & he sold 5 boxes cards. got Dale & came home & went to bed awhile Ivard & Gene worked on cultivator Ray got home at 1: & Ivard & I took him to Caldwell & he got some graduation presents & we went to bank. got groc & came home & ate & Ivard went to bed from 4: until 7: then he had a bath & we all went to Rays graduation but Kay & Jackie. came home at 10:30 & I got ready for work. Ivard laid down until 11:30 then he went to work

Monday, May 25, 1959

I came home from work & little Kids were to school & Ivard was home. Gene had chores done. Kay ate & went over to Brysons & finished weeding onions.

Ivard & Gene got corn planted & wheels on tractor changed ready to cultivate beets.

Jackie & I went to bed.

At 3:15 Ivard, Kay - Gene & Jackie left for Adrian to ball practice. I got up & took Dean card selling when they got home sold 3 boxes. Ray did dishes & made cookies. I came home & made meat loaf & put carrots potatoes & breaded tomatoes on and washed a big batch of clothes.

Sunday, May 24, 1959

Ivard came home from work & came to bed. Gene did chores No one went to church. Kay had cold sore's so bad.

I got up & made 3 in 1 icecream & a coconut cake with orange filling. Made dressing & baked a half salmon & cooked frozen carrots & peas We ate at 2:30 & I laid down & had a nap, I was so tired.

Bish's came for awhile & visited.

Gene did chores & we had icecreame & cake & fruit punch & went to bed early.

I left for work at 11: & Ivard left at 11:30.

Saturday, May 23, 1959

I came home from work & laid down about an hr. then Ivard got me up to go get feed before noon.

Kay - Ray & Dean went & weeded onions until 11:15 & got rained out. Ivard & Gene just got 8 rows corn planted when it started to rain.

Ray & Dean went to town with me & we got feed, groc. & picked up Rays new suit they were doing cuffs on.

We ate supper & Ray did up the work.

Ivard & I went to bed at dark & Kids went early.

Ivard went to work at 11:45.

My nite off.

Dean got his all occasion cards today & Kay & Gene took him selling them. He sold 9 boxes.

Friday, May 22, 1959

got letter from Jerry.

I got home from work at 8:30 & ate & went right to bed. Ivard took Kids over to school to go to Boise on their picnic, Ivard tended Jackie & while she was asleep he harrowed corn ground.

Kay & Claudia brought Gene home from picnic at 4:& Claudia look at house, I was asleep. Kay & Claudia were going to show Gene finished getting corn ground ready.

Ivard went & got Kids & they changed their clothes & he took Ray & Dean over to Brysons to do onions I never woke up until 4:30 then I got books up & fixed supper.

Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Thursday, May 21, 1959

I came home from work & went right to bed. Ivard had to go in to an Investigation. Gene finished plowing corn ground. Kay washed car and at 11: Kay went to Adrian in Pick-up to play ball. Ivard - Jackie - Gene & I went at 1: to Adrian to district play off. We beat Richland 23 to 0. After game we went down to cafe & ate then Ivard, Jackie & I went up to Schulthies & ate supper & visited. got Jackie ready & we went to Kay's graduation.

Kay & Gene stayed to Ad's for last time, to go to school picnic tomorrow. We came home at 10: & I drove to work alone

Ivards nite off.

Dean went & did onions but Ray milked.

Wednesday, May 20, 1959

sent Mother a letter

I came home from work & Ivard was home & had chores done & we went to bed & Jackie too. Ivard got up at 11: to call Rail Road then him & Jackie went to Adrian at 3: after Kids & Gene's pig & her little ones.

The Phone woke me up at 4:40 & gas guy was sitting out here & Bryson waiting for Kids, he thought Ivard was after them & I told him no so he went & got Dean & brought him back to change clothes. Ray didn't go today, he got supper & I finished mothers letter and mailed it in Nampa when I took Ray in to Mutual & got groc. Ivard & Kids were home when I got back & we ate after Gene did chores. I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivards nite off but he worked, made up day.

Tuesday, May 19, 1959

I came home from work late & passed Ivard up at corner takeing kids to school, he had chores done. He ate & we read paper then he went up staires to bed & I changed my bed & gathered up clothes & sorted & washed 3 batches and hung them out & went to bed at 2: Ivard came down & took Jackie up to bed with him at noon then when she woke up they went & got a load of hay.

Kay called & woke me up, wanted us to come & get him, I told him to waite until tomorrow. got books up & wrote mother.

Mr. Bryson came & got Ray & Dean after school to weed onions. they got 90 cents an hr. & earned $2. I washed another batch of clothes & Ray fixed supper when he got home at 7: Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Monday, May 18, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard was home & had chores done. I took Dale to school & came home & ate & Jackie & I went to bed with Ivard. We got up at noon & went to Nampa & Pd. bills & had a sundee. came home & went back to bed. Ivard got up at 3:30 & went & got the Kids. I got up & fixed supper & we ate & Ivard & I got ready & went to Adrian to Class Night and Ray milked.

Kay got a pin for Pep Club President & one for typeing 55 words a min. we got home at 10: & we went to bed. I got up at 10:35 & went to work. Ivard went at 11:30.

Sunday, May 17, 1959

I came home from work & Gene was doing chores & Ivard was home. Kay - Gene & Ray went to Priesthood & Ivard & I went to bed. Kids came home after Priesthood because Kay was going to Boise with Gail but he didn't come until this afternoon. I roast ham & scalloped potatoes & we ate at 1:30 & I washed my hair & had a bath & at 3: we went to bed & Gail never even woke us up when he came.

It really rained & thundered & lighteninged.

got up at :30 & got ready & at 6: Ivard & I took Kay & Gene to Adrian & we went to Baccalorint. got home at 10: & slept an hr. & went to work.

Saturday, May 16, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard & I went to bed & Gene did chores.

Kay left at 11: for Adrian in Pick up & went to Ontario with Petersons to 5 Stake Seminary Testimonial & banquet & dance. He got home at midnight. Ivard & I got up at noon & took Ray to Nampa & bought him a new light grey suit for graduation shoes, 2 ties 2 pr. sock, belt & 2 undershirt Came home & got supper & we ate & Dale, Jackie & I went to Caldwell & picked up the class picture for the school for Kay. Came home & went to bed until time to go to work. Gene plowed half the corn ground & did chores & cut lawn. I washed.

Friday, May 15, 1959

It rained nearly all night & most of morning.

I got home from work at 8:30 & Kids were to school & Ivard was home & had milking done.

We ate & read papers & Ivard Jackie & I went to bed. We got up at 2:15 & had sandwich & went to Adrian & Ivard practiced base ball with Kids & after they got their clothes from Ad's & we came home and Ray had supper. We ate & Gene did chores.

They came home & put in our new milk cooler at dark.

Ward Teachers came.

Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Thursday, May 14, 1959

bought a new 6 can milk cooler

Ivard did chores & Ray & Dean went to school & I took Dale later at 10: we took car in & left at Dobbs for Motor tune-up & Ivard & Jackie picked me up & we went to Caldwell to bank & I got my rugs out of laway 2 for front room dark green, 2 for my bed room white & a bath room set. We went to Parma & paid phone bill & got my 3 blankets out of laway went over to Nancys & got play pen & took some parts for corn picker. went to Nampa & Ivard went to rail road to see about floating tonight, he is looked at swing sets & had hamberger & root beer then Ivard waited for car & Jackie & I came home in Pick-up & I worked on my books washed rugs & went after Kids. Ivard got home at 5:30 & we ate & Ray did milking & Ivard did dishes & him & Jackie bathed we went to bed until time to go to work.

Wednesday, May 13, 1959

had letter from Lyle when we got home

We got up at 6: & I had a shower & we ate & went over to Irv's store & got a couple cases of stuff then we went to Bountiful & got some flour 2.98 50 lbs, sugar 98 cents 10 lbs, salad dressing 39 miracle whip & stuff, having a price war.

We left for hom at 9: A.M.

Sure hot.

We stoped at Burley & ate.

I drove from Burley to Hammot.

Got home at 5: & Ivard & I went to Nampa & got feed. stoped over at corner grocery & talked to Mrs Roberts, (her folks own it) came home & had to take Ray right back in to Mutual. We ate & Ivard did chores then he got bumped so we went back in to see board & he marked up on midnight job with Wed. & Thursday off. bad wind storm. lights were out. Ivard called Simplots & told them I was too tired & sick to come.

Tuesday, May 12, 1959

We got up & ate & I cut button holes & sewed buttons on Jackies skirt & dress & mother finished my blouse. We went out & watched Ken work on mothers house awhile, he has it about done but painting & the plumbing. We left for Salt Lake at 11: & went to Louies & had lunch & visited awhile then she went to hospital to see Elmer & we went over to Sara's & visited Alve & Pearl & all of them then Sara fixed us supper & we were just leaving when Marv came so we went over & talked to them awhile then we went to Bountiful & got gas & went to Ruth & Rays a little while then we went down to Irvins & they were just going to bed. We talked awhile & went to bed. Decided not to drive all nite.

We got to Grantsville, Utah at 5: A.M. stoped at Bliss & ate. I drove from Hammet to Burley. We went to bed until noon then we had lunch.

Mother sewed on my blouse

Ivard was sick all day & vomited.

Ken was too work until tomorrow morning.

I fixed Kays graduation card to mail & wrote to Jerry & Lyle & at 5:30 Ivard & I went up town & mailed them & took Laurell & Jackie & had icecream cone came back & brought Mother & Berniece one & I went with them down to Beverlys after milk & Ivard walked over & watched Kent practice ball.

We ate & all went to bed early.

Sunday, May 10, 1959

left for Grantsville, Utah at 8: P.M

me & Jackie & mother bathed. Ivard did chores & him & Ray went to Priesthood & Mother & I & little Kids went to sunday school later. I got a carnation for most Kids. They gave us a double petunia plant. Mother & I wore a corsage that Dean, Dale & Jackie gave us, mine was a white gardenia & pink carnations. Ivard gave me an azalia plant & Kids gave me a salmon geranium, Ray gave me a pr of wall placques. Came home & fried cheicken & we were just going to eat when Gail, Lynda, Debbie & Jeffery came & brought Kay & Gene. First time we'd seen baby, sure cute, lots of dark hair. weighs 9 lbs now. We all ate. Gail & Lynda gave me a brown donkey pulling a gold cart holding a brown jug & 6 cups hanging on back. Kay & Gene gave me about 6 figurines. Ivard went to work for 3: & we washed Kids some clothes & Gail took Kids back to Adrian about 6: Ivard came home at 7: & said the crew would finish short handed so we Packed & Ivard, Jackie & I took mother home

Mother day card from Jerry

I got off work at 7:15 & came home with Jesse. came home & Ivard was home had chores done & was in bed. I went to bed until 10:30 then Ray & I took car in to Dobbs & had the breaks adjusted and got groc. we saw Ivard, Dean & Dale in town buying Mother Day presents We both got home about the same time. Ivard & Kids had milk shake & hamberger. Ivard left for work & I made potatoe salad & baked beans for tomorrow & cut up chicken - ready to fry.

Mother sewed all day & washed & I hung them out.

Ivard called at 6: & told us to meat him at "House of Fong" & he'd buy Mother & I our supper had chow meine. got a few more groc. & came home & worked on books. My nite off. Didn't go after Kids, they didn't call.

Friday, May 8, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard was home & had chores done & was in bed. I went to bed & mother sewed & tended Jackie.

I got up at 3:30 & Ivard went & got Kids and I got supper. we ate & Ivard went up to neighbor & got load of hay & Ray milked then Ivard went to bed.

I pined up the hem on my 2 dresses & at 9: I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivard left at 10:45.

It really blew hard & was black as ink but when I went to work the stars were out.

Kay & Gene went to Vale to Seminary graduation & over to Gails after & stayed until sunday Kay got a Seminary certificate.

Thursday, May 7, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard & I went to bed until noon & Mother tended Jackie & sewed.

At noon Mother, Jackie & I took Ivard in to get the tractor, we left to be fixed & we went to Caldwell & got Jackie 2 pr. shoes & Dean & Dale a pr. overalls, shirt & 3 pr. shorts & laid away 3 pr. levies & 3 shirts each, for school. got thread, buttons, belt buckles ect. & I bought Mother some orchid material for a suit for Mothers day. pd Kays suit & got a new tire & came home & got supper & went to bed.

Ivard went in to Dairy Queen & picked Ray up then did the chores.

Ivard left for work at 10:45 & I left at 11:

Wednesday, May 6, 1959

I came home from work & took the Kids to school then I ate & read paper. I went to bed at 10: & got up at 3:30.

Ivard & Jackie took little calves to sale & Ivard & Jackie went in & picked up calf check & got Kids Dale went to Primary with Barlows.

I got supper & we ate at 4:30 & Dean did dishes & Ivard & I Mother & Jackies took Ray over to Hastwriters at State line Store by Homedale to stay all nite & go on Adrians 8th grade sneak tomorrow We stoped in Nampa & got feed on the way & had icecream cone comeing home. Ivard milked & I got books up. Mother made my 2nd dress today. went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & Kids were to school & Ray stayed home to weed flowers but didn't do much. Ivard had chores done. He took tractor in to be fixed & I went in and got him & we went to sugar factory & signed finance papers came home & hung out 2 batches of clothes I washed before I left & at 11:15 I went to bed. Ray got me up at 1:15 & I went over to house above school to the mothers club. got home at 4:30 & brought Kids & Ivard had left at 12:30 & got home at 7:, he'd been to Nyssa to ball game. It rained all afternoon & hard tonight I went to bed when I got home but couldn't sleep. Ray got supper & milked.

Monday, May 4, 1959

I came home & read paper & ate a dish of icecream & went to bed Ivard had chores done & him & Jackie went to Caldwell to bank. Mother spent all day makeing me a house dress to try out the pattern for my new sunday dress. at noon Ivard & Jackie came to bed with me. Ivard got up & went after Kids & I got up at 4:30 and got supper and washed 2 batches of clothes.

Ivard did chores & I got books up.

When Ivard got home with Kids they cut 50 lbs potatoes & planted 6 rows before supper.

Ray did dishes & made some cookies. I worked on my books & went to bed at 9: until time to go to work.

Sunday, May 3, 1959

Tomatoes were froze this morning

Ivard never got home until 12:30. I came home from work & Ivard had chores done & him Kay & Ray went to priesthood I made suffle salad & 3 in 1 icecream then mother & I took Dean, Dale & Jackie to sunday school & left them & car & we came home in pick-up. I went to bed at 11: & mother got dinner They lost Jackie & time they found her sacrement had started so Ivard & little Kids came home & went back & got Kay & Gene when meeting was out and we ate at 2: & Ivard sent to work. I laid down while Kay got his things gathered up & at 4: Mother, Jackie, & I took Kay back over to Add's & picked some aspargus along way. talked to Gene a few min. got home at 7: & I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivard was home when I got up to go.

Saturday, May 2, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard & I went to bed. He got up at 12:30 & took a cow & calf over to Caldwell sale & went to work.

Ray cleaned house & Kay spent most of day typeing & getting his lessons then he mowed the lawn.

I got up & got dinner & we ate at 2: & I went back to bed until 5: & Mother & I went to Nampa & got slip out of pick up & went to Caldwell & got cow check & got groceries, Mother & Kids watched T.V. & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Mother cut me out a dress & Jackie a dress & blouse. Ivard wasn't home when I left.

Friday, May 1, 1959

I came home from work & kids were to school & Ivard was home & had chores done.

cold & rainy.

I sorted clothes & washed on batch & went to bed & mother washed the other 3 & hung out then she iorned what needed it.

I got up at 4: & went to school & got Dean & Dale, Ray was away playing ball.

It rained hard & clothes were dripping but wind dried them again.

I got supper & we ate & Ray did chores & Ivard & I went to Adrian & got Kay. Gene stayed over to work for Lee.

We went to bed until time to go to work.
