Thursday, December 31, 1959

sent Jerry letter & money
got letter from Stella

lite skiff of snow at 6: A.M. but sun came out all day & melted it. I came home & Ivard was home in bed. I went to bed until 9:30 then we got up & went & got Ivards check & pd. bills. droped Gene off at school to practice ball at 10: I wrote Jerry on way went to Caldwell & got Int. drawn up on all our savings accounts. got groc. & came back & got Gene at 1: came home & I went to bed & Ray got dinner.

Ivards day off & at 2:30 he got called out brakeing to Nyssa & had to met crew at 3: to drive over. Ray cleaned house & at 5:30 Kotters came & got him to stay all nite.

Gene did chores & I got books up.

At 7:30 I fixed Kids hambergers & cocoa & stuff for New Years Eve & we ate at 8:30 & I went to bed until time to go to work. Kay-Gene-Dean-Dale & Jackie watched T.V.

I went to work at 11:

Ivard earned $72. on his breaking trip.

Wednesday, December 30, 1959

got letter from Jerry

It started to snow at 6:45 A.M & there was an in or more when we came out to go home, wasn't slippery. stoped time we got home & not as much out this way. sun came out about 2:30.

I read paper & went to bed & Ivard took Gene in to basketball practice They came home at noon & woke me up they made so much noise. I stayed in bed until about 3: but never did get to sleep again. Ray defrosted ice box & freezer compartment. Rest of them watched T.V. & played games all day.

Ivard took Gene, Ray, & Dean in to church at 4:30 to settle up their titheing. They were all full tithe payers.

I worked on books until Gene went to do chores. Ray got supper for Kids & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Tuesday, December 29, 1959

Gail came over & brought Gene home

I came home from work & Ivard was to work. I read paper & went to bed. Kids got me up at 12:30 & I got ready & went over to Barney's to relief society officers & teachers & visiting teachers party. came home at 4: & Gail Lynda & Kids were here, they brought Gene home.

Ivard got home about 4:30 & he got bumped he'll be back on 11: tomorrow nite.

I helped Ray cook supper & we ate & played games.

Kay got ready & went over to Adrian & took Claudia to High School to Xmas formal.

I went to bed at 8: & Gail left right after.

I went to work at 11:

Ivard was home with Kids.

Monday, December 28, 1959

got letter from Louie

I got up & made Ivards lunch & he left for work at 7:30 & I went back to bed. Ray gathered up all the cloths & canged all the beds & I sorted them & washed cloths all day. Ray milked this morning we played games & I worked on my books & threw away old bills.

We cooked a ham roast & had supper right after Ivard got home from work about 6: he had a flat tire & no spare.

I went to bed about 8: until time to go to work but never did get to sleep.

Ivard did chores & they played games. Louie wrote abotu Stellas wreck.

I went back to work tonite.

Sunday, December 27, 1959

Sara called

I got up & fixed Ivards lunch & he went to work at 7:30 & I went back to bed. Ray got up & milked & he went to Priesthood & sunday school with Barlows then he stayed in to Kotters & went to a priesthood meeting at Stake house. He went to church & Fireside after & never got home until 10: Dean went to Church at nite with Mrs Barlow to get some bars on his primary bandleau.

Sara called & said Stella, Jack & Aunt Esther were in wreck Xmas eve. Aunt Esther was killed outright & Jack died this morning. Stella isn't too bad.

I cooked supper & we ate when Ivard came. He did chores & we played games. went to bed early.

Saturday, December 26, 1959

I got up & made Ivards lunch & he went to work at 7:30 A.M. I went back to bed. Ray got up & milked. I got up at 10:30 & washed cloths all day. I washed my hair & played games with Kids. Ray cleaned up house & got supper.

We ate & Ivard did chores while I bathed & we got ready & went to Nampa to the Eagles Hall to the Simplot Union Dance. had a big crowd. lot of drinking in other room but we didn't go in. Paul & Mary were there. We had fun, my feet hurt time we came home, not used to high heels. We came home at midnight & Kids were up playing games.

Friday, December 25, 1959

Gene got up & milked & I put turkey on & Ivard took movies of all the presents & tree then we got Kids up & opened presents. Had a good Xmas. We played games & put a puzzle together.

Nice day.

Gail - Lynda & Kids came about 2: & opened their presents & gave us ours.

We ate about 4:, turkey sandwiches olives pickles, salad ect. fruit cocktail & fruit cake.

Ivards nite off.

Gene went home with Gail for few days, left at 5:.

Kay went over to Claudias then brought her over here about 10: I was already in bed asleep.

Ivard did chores & watched T.V. & played games with Kids. I don't feel good.

Thursday, December 24, 1959

Ivards day off. Gene did chores & we ate.

I wrapped presents & Ivard cleaned turkey then at 2: Ivard & I took Kay over to Claudias in Pick-up & we went on over to Ontario to G.&B. & got a desk for Gene & Ray & a ward robe for Jackie then we picked Kay up at 4: & came to Nampa & got Dean & Dales dresser & finished up our shopping. came home & Ray had work done & supper ready & we ate & they did chores & got to bed early. Then Ivard & I played Santa Clause & we were to bed by 10:30.

It rained hard all day & most of nite.

Wednesday, December 23, 1959

I came home from work & ate & read paper. We are off for next 5 nites. Ivard was to work. I went to bed until noon & Ray did up work then Kay Ray & I went to town & Ray did his Xmas shopping & I finished most of mine & Kay got Claudias present. We came home at dark & ate & Ivard wasn't home yet. He got home about 7:30 he'd been to Waldorf. We dashed back to town & got a paint brush & I went to bed & Ivard went down basement & painted Jackies cup board for Xmas

Gene did chores & killed turkey for Ivard to clean in the morning.

Kay went over to Claudias at 6: got home at midnite.

Tuesday, December 22, 1959

I came home from work & took little Kids to school. Ivard was to work. little Kids got out at 2: & Kay went & got them. Gene came home with Ivard at 4: & Ray came on bus, they don't go back until after New Years.

I went to bed after I read paper. got up when Kids came home & Kay tended Jackie.

We ate & they did chores & Ivard & Kay took Gene to ball game. got beat.

Me, Ray & little Kids went in to church to Xmas programe & Santa Clause. We got home at 9:45 & I laid down until time to go to work.

Monday, December 21, 1959

I came home from work & took Dean & Dale over to Grange hall to practice their Xmas programe then Kay & Jackie & I went to Nampa to bank & paid taxes then we went to Nyssa to take Gail a Xmas tree but they already had one. got some butter & stuff in Nyssa. It was late when we got home.

Ivard went & paid water bill after he got off work at 4: Ray got supper & I laid down awhile.

Ivard went after Gene at 7: & we passed them up at corner on way to school programe. Ivard brought Gene on home & got ready & came over to Grange hall. Ray & I took Kids early. Kay & Gene tended Jackie. I came home early & laid down a hr. before I went to work.

Sunday, December 20, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard was to work. I ate & went to bed. Gene had chores done & made hot cakes for Kids. None of them went to sunday school.

Sunny but cold wind.

I got up at 1:, Fuller brush guy came got books up.

Ray did dishes & cleaned Kitchen & I got supper. Ivard got home at 3: we ate at 4: then I got books up & Ivard & Kids put tree up after Ray changed everything around & cleaned good.

I helped little Kids wrap Xmas presents & I wrapped some.

Gene & Kay went to church with Max. I went to bed until time to go to work.

Saturday, December 19, 1959

got pkg from Lyle

I came home in fog & nearly got hit. Ivard had doubled over on day job he got for 2 weeks. He came home & Gene took him back so he could use pick-up. I ate & went to bed & at 11: Gene got me up & we took 2 cows to Caldwell to sale. Came home and I got books up & got most of my Xmas cards ready to mail & at 3:30 Dean & I took them in & mailed them. Jim Peterson stoped me at red lite & said to pick Kay up at bus depot so I went & got Ivard then we got Kay & went to Caldwell & got check from cows & came back & got groc. & went to Kids place after Kays suit case but he wasn't home yet, Kay went in later. Came home & Ivard got supper & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ray went after Xmas tree with scouts at 8: A.M. Got home at 9:

Friday, December 18, 1959

got anniversary card from Jerry

I got up & cooked Kids breakfast & Ivard took little boys to school then we wrapped presents & got Lyle & mothers pkg. ready to mail & I went to town at noon to finish getting things for Jerrys pkg. then I went to relief society leadership meeting & social. came home & we wrapped Jerrys pkg.  & Dean, Dale Ivard & I went to town & mailed it & I took Dean & Dale to do their Xmas Shopping.

Gene & Ray had pick-up & came home right after school & Ray had supper ready when we got home. Gene had chores done & made the biscuits on meat pie. We ate & I went to bed until time to go to work & so did Ivard. I left at 11: & he went about 11:30.

Thursday, December 17, 1959

Silver Wedding Ann. Ivard gave me a diamond ring set.

I came home from work & Ivard was home, he took Kids to school & I went to bed awhile then I got up & Ivard gave me a diamond & wedding ring set. We got ready & went to Caldwell & got my laways out & bought some Xmas presents then we came back to Nampa & bought some more presents & got my robes for everyone out of laway. Got Dean & Dale some shoes. Got me a bra. Took rings in to make larger.

Ivard had hair cut & we got groc. & came home & fixed little Kids supper & Ivard & I went back to Nampa to Harmony Cafe & had supper, Shrimp. We were going to show but Gene & Ray didn't come home from school, game & practice, then they went to Mutual Xmas party. We came home & did chores & I laid off. We went to bed early. Ivards nite off.

Wednesday, December 16, 1959

I hurried home from work & got ready while Ivard took little boys to school then I went to Nampa & picked up Mrs. Kotter, Mavis & Mrs Newland & I drove to Boise to Dr. Cudmore for my check up. I only lost 1 lb but it made 11 lbs for month I lost 2 in. on hips, brought ladies home & went up town & got my medecine & a few presents Came home at 1: & went to bed Ivard washed some cloths. I went after little boys

Ray came home on bus & got supper. Ivard went in & got Gene from practice.

Ivards nite off but he floated to make up a day he missed. I went to work at 11:

Tuesday, December 15, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard was home in bed. I took Kids to school & ate & me & Jackie went to bed with Ivard. I got up at noon & read my relief society lesson over & got ready & went to relief society. I gave my lesson today.

Ivard & Jackie took me to relief society then they went to bank, Paid bills & went shopping. after relief society they picked me up & we went & bought Lyle & Gails $5. present & got groc. & came home.

Ray came home & got supper & I went to bed.

Gene took pick-up to school so he'd have a way home from Game at Vale, got beat.

Ivard took Ray to church practice. I started to take Ivard to work but we met Gene so he took him home & went in Pick-up.

Monday, December 14, 1959

sent Mother letter

I came home from work & Ivard was home in bed. I took Kids to school. Ray had all the beds changed & I sorted the cloths

They brought the washer home this morning. Cost $53. to fix. I washed 2 batches & hung out & wrote to mother & mailed it.

I went to bed at noon & Ivard got up & tended Jackie & washed cloths & dried in dryer. He went to work at 4: & I went & got Gene at 7:30 from practice.

Ray came home on bus & made beds & got supper. & we got cloths put away.

Ray went ward teaching with Max.

Sunday, December 13, 1959

I got up & got Kids breakfast. Ivard came home & went to bed.

Gene - Ray- Dean & Dale went to priesthood, & sunday school.

I got dinner. I washed my hair.

I went to bed in afternoon. we were watching "Wizzard of Oz." & power went off for 2 hrs. it made it too late to go to church. It was 8: before they could milk.

Ray went to church with Max

We all went to bed early. Ivard & I went to work at 11:15.

Saturday, December 12, 1959

Kay called

I cam home from work & went to bed with Ivard. Gene went & got him & he was asleep when I got home. I have tonite off & was only going to lay down a little while. It was 3: when I woke up. I wanted to go over to Gails but Ivard had to watch ball game on T.V. Ray had house cleaned & supper ready. We ate & Gene took pick-up & went to Nampa at 4: to go to Emmett & play ball.

I wrote to Lyle - Kay - Jerry & Louie & Ivard mailed them when he went to work. Kay called & wanted money to pay his rent. sent Ruth a birthday card & note.

Friday, December 11, 1959

Got birthday present & Xmas present from Mother.

I came home from work & Ivard was home & in bed. I ate & read paper & Jackie and I went to bed too. Ivard & Jackie got up at noon.

I got up at 3: when Gene got home & fixed supper & we ate & he went back to Nampa in pick-up to go to Mountain Home to play ball they got beat. Ray, Dean & Dale ate when they got home.

I went back to bed with Ivard after he did chores. Ray cleaned front room & changed everything around.

I took Ivard to work on my way to work. Gene got home at midnite.

Thursday, December 10, 1959

Got letter from Mother & Jerry

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed I was so cold Ivard came to bed & got me warm.

I got up at 2:15 & Gail & Lynda came & we went to Caldwell & got milk check & got groc. & came home & I got supper & we ate when Kids came from Primary.

Ray went over to Smalls to go to Caldwell to play church ball. Gail & Gene took him over.

Gail & Gene went in to high school at 6: & Ivard milked then all the rest of us went in & watched Gene play then Gail went home. Parma beat them Gene made 5 points. Came home at 9: & went to bed until time to go to work.

Wednesday, December 9, 1959

Grinder guy came.

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed. Ivard took little boys to school & tended Jackie. Ivard got Jackie to bed & he came to bed awhile. We got up at 3: & I started makeing pies. made 4 apple pies & 2 little ones & a pan of cinnamon rolls. Ivard went & got Kids & went to work at 4: floated, his day off.

Terrs came & got the washer to fix.

Ray came home on bus & made pea soup.

I went after Gene at 7:

Tuesday, December 8, 1959

I came home from work & read paper & Ivard took little boys to school. I went to bed until 11:15 then I got ready & went to bank then went to relief society work day & Xmas programe. They were just eating when I got there had a good dinner then I made a poinsetta plant out of a 7 string set of Xmas lights.

Got Ray after school & he went & got his drivers licence & we came home & Ray milked & got supper & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ivards day off. he had to go to an invistagation at 6: & brought Gene home from practice. They watched T.V.

Monday, December 7, 1959

sent mother letter.

I came home from work & read paper, ate & washed my bed & hung out. Ray had cloths gathered up & I sorted them & did a batch of blankets then I went to bed & Ivard washed 4 more batches & hung out.

Ivard went & got Kids & I cooked supper & we ate.

Terrys came out & fixed dryer cost $20.85. I dried another batch of cloths. & got cloths in & put away.

Ray milked & I went to bed until time to go to work. Ray went ward Teaching then went up to Max's to practice a play.

Ivard - Dean & Dale went to Parma to watch Gene play ball. Nampa won.

Sunday, December 6, 1959

I came home from work & went right to bed with Ivard. I was froze to death. Gene had to be to Priesthood at 9:30 so him & Ray went & Ivard & little Kids stayed home.

I got up at 3: & Gene had brought Popilton home & they were rabbit hunting. Ray had supper ready & we ate before they got back.

I wrote to mother & watched T.V.

Ivard & all the Kids went to church & Jackie & I went to church & Jackie & I went to bed.

I went to work at 11: & Ivard went at midnight.

Saturday, December 5, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard was in bed & I went right to bed & I never got up until 3:30.

They plowed a little but it was nearly froze too much.

Gene fixed a fence.

Ivard left for work at 2:

Ray cleaned house & got supper & we ate at 4: Kids tried to start car to put gas in & it was dead Gene & Ray started it with tractor. I took Gene in to high school at 5: to go play their first ball game & went & had Don put a new battery cable on. Came home & got books up & read paper Ray milked. Went to bed & Gene called & I went & got him. They won by one point. Gene made a basket just as gun went off. He made 6 points. I went to work at 11:

Friday, December 4, 1959

I came home from work & went to bed & Ivard tended Jackie, at noon Jackie went to bed with me & Ivard plowed awhile. He had to be to work at 3:30.

Ray got home early & tended Kids & at 4: I went to Caldwell & took my 11 Gold Strike books & got some Xmas presents for Kids. Came back to high school at 5:20 to get Gene but he'd left. I went up town shopping & finally met up with Gene & he got all his Xmas shopping done. We got home at 9: & ate & he milked & I took Jackie & laid down an hr. then I went to work at 11:10.

I came home from work & ate & Jackie & I went to bed & Ivard plowed awhile then he came in & tended Jackie until time to go to work.

little Kids just got home from primary when Ray left for his first ball game at Stake house. He went to mutual after & came home with Max.

I fixed supper & went & got Gene at 7: & we ate & he did chores & I went to bed until time to go to work at 11:

Wednesday, December 2, 1959

I came home from work & passed Ivard takeing little boys to school I hurried & got ready & went in to Taylors at 9:15 & we went to Boise to Dr. Cudmore.

My first 2 week check up & I lost 10 lbs.

Came home at 1: & ate & went to bed with Jackie awhile.

Ivard never did go to bed & he went & got Kids at 3:30 & went to work again.

I got books up.

Ray didn't come home on bus again.

I went to bed at 5:30 & got up at 6:45 & went & got Gene & Ray come just before I left. he'd been passing hand bills.

Mrs Bryson came over selling Xmas tree ornaments.

Jerry called, has been transfered to Santa Fe, New Mexico

I came home & Ivard took Kids to school & I ate & went to bed & Jackie, she don't feel good. Ivard went to town & Pd. Int. on place mortage & put money in bank then he tended Jackie & at 1: I got up & went to relief society. Went & pd. Hales & got some bread & Ivard had gone & got little boys & was out plowing till dark then he milked & went after Gene.

Ray stayed after school to pass hand bills for scouts & came home at 6:30 & brought Dickie Small & they ate & went back with Ivard to get Gene & went to church ball practice. Ivard & Gene came home & I fixed oyster soup & Ivard & I went to bed. Ivard went to work for 11: & I left at 11:
