Thursday, August 31, 1961

We didn't have to work today. I read papers & about 10: we went over to Metcalf & got a case of cantalope & my pears from Steels, I got 3 bu. of ones they sorted out for 1.00. We came home around the lake & I got 2 bu. of Hale peaches for 4.50. Came home & went to store & got sugar & lids & washed bottles & got 10 qts of peaches canned.

We had supper & at 7:30 Ivard & I, Jerry - Dale & Jackie went to Boise to State Fair looked at some of the exhibits & Dale, Jackie & I went on "Octopus," & "Ferris Wheel." We had hamberger & drink & Kids had cotton candy. We never saw Jerry until we left. Ray got mad & wouldn't go with us. He wanted to take car & take a girl & I wouldn't let him.

We got home at 11:30. It was cloudy & few drops of rain.

Wednesday, August 30, 1961

Ray did chores & took him & Jerry to work. They woke me up when they left & I read paper, washed 2 batches of cloths & helped Dean a little with puzzle.

Ivard - Gene - Dale & Jackie got home from Nyssa at 9:30 & Gene went right on up to practice. He came home at 1: & him & Dean left for Nyssa until Friday. They put on "Promised Valley" again tonite & tomorrow nite. Hes going to Ontario Fair this afternoon.

Ivard too me up to bank to pay place & I started me a Savings account for $5. at Home Federal, then we took Dale out by Smalls to Cub scout meeting. I read 32 pages of "Zions Redemption."

I left for work at 5:45. for 6:30. We only worked 4 1/2 hrs. I was home by midnite.

Ivard went to Dr.

Tuesday, August 29, 1961

sent Lyle a letter

Ray did chores & took him & Jerry to work.

Gene got home at 9:, Dale stayed over there, & went to foot ball practice, Ivard went with him.

I got up at 12:30 & read paper, ate & hung out a batch I washed yesterday & washed 2 batches.

finished writeing letter I started to Lyle yesterday & got my books up.

Gene came home from practice & had a nap & Ivard took my new shoes up town & had them sewed & got gas in car.

I read 20 pages of "Zions Redemption"

I had a shower & got ready & went to work at 3:30

Ivard & Jackie went to Nyssa with Gene to stay all nite, left at 3:

Jerry & Ray went to Johnson girl reception.

I went to work at 3:30 for 4:30 & got off at 11:25. Came home & ate watermellon & went to bed at 12:30.

Monday, August 28, 1961

got letter from Kay

sent Kay a letter

Ray did chores & took him & Jerry to work. Gene came home at 8:30 to go to foot ball practice. I read paper & got up at 9:30 & washed 6 b. cloths. Dean changed all the beds & gathered them up for me.

Ivard & Dale went up to watch Gene practice.

Cloudy but breezy.

wrote Kay a 4 page letter & Dean, Dale & Jackie wrote him one too.

I had to be to work at 3:30 so I got ready & left at 2:30 to mail Kays letter & pick up Louise.

Jerry - Ray & Dean went to opening social for Mutual.

We worked 11 hrs. & 15 min. got off at 3:30 A.M. I was home by 4: & to bed.

Gene went to Nyssa at 2: & Dale went to stay a couple of days

Sunday, August 27, 1961

Ray did chores & Ivard, Jerry, Ray & Dean went to Priesthood. Ray brought Ivard home after & took Dale & Jackie to sunday school. I read paper & Ivard watched ball game.

I cooked dinner & we ate when Kids got home at 1:30.

Dale went to Perrys after s.s & stayed until after church.

Ivard went to Stake house at 3: for 70's meeting.

I read 80 pages of "Zions Redemption" had a Shower & got ready & Ray took me up to get car, met Ivard on 12th & I went to work for 5:30.

Ivard & Jackie stayed home from church.

We worked 6 hrs & 45 min. I got home at 2: A.M, had to waite 1/2 hr for Lynda.

Saturday, August 26, 1961

Jerry & Ray went to work & Gene came home & went to foot ball practice. At 10: Ivard took Dean & Mike to church to pass hand bills & him & Dale went & watched Gene practice.

I washed clothes & rugs & made a big Kettle of veg. beef soup. This afternoon I got all of my iorning done up.

Jerry came home at noon & picked tomatoes & helped clean up house. Dean did bath room.

Ray came home tonite & cleaned Kitchen floor & dineing room.

Jerry & Ray went to Stake dance. I crocheted & we watched T.V.

Corn didn't work today.

Gene went & worked for Wally until 5: then went to Nyssa to stay until Monday morning.

Friday, August 25, 1961

sent Mother 10 page letter

rained in nite - cloudy

Ray did chores & him & Jerry went to work.

I got up at 8:45 & got breakfast & we ate & Gene walked up to foot ball practice then Ivard decided to go up & watch him.

I wrote a letter to Mother, 10 pages & mailed it when we went to Boise to cash in Jerry baby Ins policy & see about getting money for pasturing sheep last winter.

It really blew & rained for awhile, up rooted trees & broke off branches.

Gene didn't work for Wally today, he soaked his sprained ankle & went to Nyssa early for his dance practice, then stayed to Gails all nite.

I didn't go to work again, didn't feel like it. We went to Kotters & got her to witness Ivards signature on Ins. then got Jerry & ate & he went to work on church paper. Ray never got home from work until midnite, went & met Jerry & went to show.

Thursday, August 24, 1961

got letter from Kay & Lyle

got off at 4:50 A.M & came home & slept until 11:

Jerry & Ray went to work. Gene came home & went to foot ball practice, came home & had lunch & went out to work for Wally.

Ivard & Dean went to bank, Pd. bills & both had hair cut.

I washed 3 batches & got books up & crocheted.

I started my period after 40 days & I can hardly stand on my feet. I called in & laid off.

Dean made barbacue for supper & we went & got Jerry & we ate & he went to a meeting.

Gene got home after dark & had hurt his ankle, he soaked it.  Ivard & I watched T. V. until it went off the air.

Ivard gave Ray a good beating with his belt, hes been geeting so smart elic lately.

Wednesday, August 23, 1961

Ivard got his cast off

We got off & got home at 3:15 A.M

Jerry & Ray went to work. Gene went to foot ball practice.

rained most of morning.

I got up at 9: & got ready & took Ivard up to Dr, & he got his cast off his leg. I went up to Hales & bought a new hot point automatic washer, they gave me 125. for mine & it needed $30. repaire bill. They brought it noon & I washed 3 batches.

Gene went & got Ivard from Dr. at noon & Ivard had a bath. Gene went to Nyssa to dance practice this afternoon & will stay to Gails all nite.

I cooked supper & we ate & I had a shower & Ray took me up to Hennis's to get car at 7:30 & I went to work & he took Jerry to church for meeting. He came home & dressed up & sneaked out back door & never got home until midnite - He registered.

Tuesday, August 22, 1961

We got off early so I called Nyssa & Gene was there to get us when we got off at 2:45. He was going to stay all nite at Gails.

Kurt woke us up at 9: & Gene went to register for school & to foot ball practice then he came home & ate & went to Dr. for his physical.

I washed a couple of batches but washer leaks.  I don't feel so hot so I laid down all afternoon.

Ivard took car to be fixed, radiator leeks, take 2 ays.

Ivard went to store then at 3:30 he took Kids swimming & got feed.

We had to be to work at 6:30.

Gene took me up & I rode with Louise.

Monday, August 21, 1961

Kay called

We worked 10 hrs & 20 min. then waited half hr for Linda. I got home after 8:, passed Jerry & Ray on way to work.

Gene got home right after I did he went to foot ball practice.

Dean took over & changed all the beds & did up all the washing hung out & got them in again made beds & cleaned up bed room. I went to bed at 9: & got up at 4:

Gene cut the lawn.

I got supper

Gene had to go to Nyssa to dance practice so He took us to work, we had to be there at 7: I had a shower & we left at 6:15

Ivard got to talk to Kay 4 min. vie phone from California, short wave radio to there. He is fine.

Sunday, August 20, 1961

got off at 6:15 A.m., 10 hrs & 45 min., then we had to waite 45 min for Lynda to get through my feet hurt so bad.

I went to bed & couldn't sleep much, noise.

All Kids went to church. Ivard stayed home.

Jerry went to Stake sunday school meeting, had to give lesson.

Ray got dinner & we ate at 3:30. I read the last few days papers.

I wrote Kay & Ivard wrote to him. had a shower & left for work at 7:15, car boiled so I left it at Louises & went with her.

Ivard & Jackie didn't go to church tonite.

Saturday, August 19, 1961

We worked 10 hrs 15 min. I got home at 7:30 & went to bed, I was dead. laid & talked to Ivard awhile.

Kids woke me up at 5: to eat & I had a shower & left for work again at 6:15, had to be there at 7: tonite.

Jerry went to work until noon & Ray went all day. Jerry went to store for me & got gas in car.

Kids did up work a little.

Ray went to show tonite.

Friday, August 18, 1961

I got up at 6: A.M, came home & went to bed. got to sleep about 7: woke up at 2: & read paper & worked on books.

Ivard took Dean to Scout meeting at Allens at 2:

Ray did chores & took Jerry to work & him.

Ivard & I went up town & pd bills & went to bank at 4: & got some groc.

I cooked supper & Gail & Gene came & ate with us. Gene had to go to high S. & get his foot ball suit at 7: Lynda & Kids didn't come.

I left for work at 7:20.

Jerry went to church to meeting & Ivard went to water meeting. Dale took Jackie clear over to Kotters on bike. Ray went over to Kotters tonite.

Thursday, August 17, 1961

Ruth & Ray left for home about 6:20, they didn't want breakfast that early. I went back to bed and never got up until noon. My feet still hurt.

I washed 3 batches of cloths and did up all the iorning, 45 pieces.

Ivard went to get some inner soles for my shoes & get Jerry from work.

I fixed supper, left overs.

We ate when Jerry got home and I had a bath & went to work, couple of min. late

Jerry & Ray went ward teaching & we had ward teachers.

Don Slurff came & talked to Jerry about working for him.

Wednesday, August 16, 1961

Ruth & Ray came

We worked 10 hrs again. I was about dead. got home at 6:45 & went to bed but it was 8: before I got to sleep.

Ivard took Jerry to work & Ray went in Pick-up.

They woke me up at 11: & Ruth & Ray were here. Kim, Janice & Sharon. They were on their way home from a week up to Bills.

Dean & I went to store & got $41. worth of groc. & feed & I made barbacue corn on cob & we ate about 3:

We visited. I called in & laid off.

Ray came home at noon & stayed rest of day.

Gail, Lynda & Kids came & we had a buffet lunch on lawn about dark.

Ivard went to genelogy meeting.

Watched T.V. went to bed at 11:30. Jerry went to Middleton - M. Men

Tuesday, August 15, 1961

Gene came & brought his girl friend

I got off work at 6: A.M. came home home & got to bed at 7:30 & got up at 2:30. and washed some cloths & iorned for 1 1/2 hrs.

I made a meat pie with biscuits on top for supper.

Ivard went & got Jerry & we ate & I got ready & left for work at 6:50.

Jerry & Ray went to meeting at Stake house.

Gene & his girl came - Ivard said, & stayed about an hr.

Marvin Haney came with Gene tood.

My feet hurt so bad I can hardly stand for 10 hrs at work.

Monday, August 14, 1961

I got home from work & to bed at 5:45.

Ivard took Jerry to work. Ray went to work again, after a week off. He came home at noon & went to store & fixed a snack & went back to work. I got up at 11: & washed 2 or 3 batches of cloths.

Dean went to Pick corn for Mutual feed tonite at 2: & Jackie & I went to bed.

started to cut lawn & run out of gas & Ivard went & got some but didn't do any more.

I wrote Kay a 8 page letter

I got up at 4: & got cloths in & hung some more out & washed some more.

I went to work at 6:50

Ivard & Kids went to Kurtz Park for Mutual corn feed.

Sunday, August 13, 1961

I got home at 3:15 A.M. & went to bed. I woke up at 10:30 & Jerry, Ray, Dean & Dale had gone to conference. I read papers & at 11:30 I got up & got dinner. We ate at 12:30 when Kids came and they all went back to conference. I cleaned up dishes & Jackie & I went to bed at 2: I had a head ache. Ivard watched ball game. I got up when Kids got home 4:30. and worked on my books and wrote to Kay, started it.

I got ready & left for work at 6:45.

Jerry & Ray went to Stake Fire-side.

Saturday, August 12, 1961

Ivard & Kids got home from Scout Camp

I got home at 6: A.M & went to bed and got up at 11:30. Kids woke me up two or three times in between.

Jerry took pick-up to work & when he got home at 1:30, got hair cut, him & Dale & Jackie went & got groc. for me.

I washed a couple of batches (3) of cloths, cleaned & moped the front room & dineing room & Jerry did Kitchen. I iorned for an hr. & half.

Ivard & Kids got home at 4: & I laid down an hr. & Ray got supper. We ate & I had a shower & went to work at 6:45.

Jerry & Ray went to Stake dance.

Friday, August 11, 1961

started back to Simplots in corn

Jerry did chores & I made waffels & we ate & I took Jerry to work.

I patched & shellac'd my genelogy note book I made & washed a batch of socks.

At 12:30 Jackie, Dale & I went to Taylors & got her tint coupon & Dale & Deans money for passing hand bills then we went up town & bought some material for Jackie a dress & some for Melissa a birthday present then Dale went & got a hair cut & Jackie & I went to Superior Western & Jackie had her hair cut & I had mine tinted. At 3: we took Jackie to Mellissa's birthday Party & Dale & I got groc. & came home & I laid down an hr. & Dale hung out socks. I washed a blanket & rugs & got supper.

I went & got Jery & we ate & I had a shower & went to Simplots to work in corn at 7:30 P.M.

got letter from Kay

Gail & Lynda came.

Jerry did chores & went to work.

Covered me a loose leaf note book with wall paper for genelogy & made 3 pillow tops with drapery samples out of old wall paper books Jerry brought home.

played Scrabble twice with Dale. Jerry stoped in on a delivery & took Dale up to store for bread on his way back.

Mrs Kotter came to invite Jackie to birthday party.

I got called back to Simplots for tomorrow in corn. I told them no then called back & said yes because I can't draw unemployment now.

Had supper when Jerry came & we ate & he did chores & I did dishes.

Gail came a min. on way up to referee game at Stake House went to bed at 10: got books up.

Wednesday, August 9, 1961

Ivard went to Scout Camp"

Ivard took Jerry to work & went back to bed until noon. He went out to Max's & got car filled up with gas to go to Scout Camp first.

I cooked the 2 lugs of tomatoes for Juice & rode up with Ivard & Kids to get his Ins. at Dr.'s office & went to Rail R. & had them fill it out. got feed & came home & went & got pick-up from Hennis garage. I got ready & Ivard took me up to sign for unemployment then at 3:00 he for Camp Billy Rice to be with boys for 3 days. I bottled 12 qts juice had supper when Jerry got home & he did chores & I did dishes watched T.V. & crocheted.

Went to bed at 10:30

Tuesday, August 8, 1961

went to Gails

Jerry did chores & Ivard took him to work. I woke up late.

Ivard went to Dr. & had his leg ex-rayed - will get cast off in about 2 weeks.

When he got home at noon we had lunch & Ivard & I Dale & Jackie went over to Metcalfs & got some Tomatoes & cantalope then went over to Nyssa to see Gail for awhile. Nyssa coach came & talked to us about Gene going to school over there but we said no, he belonged home. Gene came from work & wouldn't even say hello or goodbye - mad I guess. We came home at 7: & ate & Ivard & I went to Stake House to Genealogy meeting, went & had a cool after.

Jerry did chores & dishes & him & Kids were in bed.

Monday, August 7, 1961

Dean & Ray went to Scout Camp

I got up at 3: A.M & took Dean & Ray up to church house to go to "Camp Billy Rice," left at 4: I came back & went to bed & got up late.

Ivard took Jerry to work.

I changed Kids beds & washed them.

Ivard, Dale, & Jackie went to bank got gas in car & Pd 2 mo phone bill.

I cleaned up & bottled 5 qts Dew berries.

Ivard & I played a game of Scrabble out on lawn.

Ivard took Kids up to Park Swimming & brought Jerry home from work & we ate & Jerry did chores & went to Mutual. I did dishes & crocheted & watched T.V. After Jerry came home & went to bed Ivard & I drove up & had a cool.

Sunday, August 6, 1961

Ray was made a Priest by Ivard

They did chores & Ivard, Jerry, Gene, Ray & Dean went to priesthood. I read paper & got dinner ready & crocheted. Ray came home & took Jackie, Debbie & Dale to sunday school.

Ivard & the girls came home after sunday school & the rest of them stayed to Testimony meeting.

We ate at 3:30.

Gene & Debbie left about 5:

They did chores & we watched T.V. no church tonite.

Kids went to bed early.

Ivard & I rode up to Dairy Queen about 10: & got a Parafee & came home & ate it while we watched late show.

Ray & Dean got packed to go to Scout Camp.

Saturday, August 5, 1961

Gene came home & Debbie too.

Jerry took car & went to work until noon. Ray went to work from Garners.

I moved everything in front room & scrubbed & changed it around and did dineing room. Dean did Kitchen & bedrooms.

I washed rugs.

Jerry came home & we had lunch & he went to store & got groceries for me.

We ate & they did chores & Jerry Dean & Ray went up to Dairy Queen & Ray went to show with Alice & a load of Kids & never got home until 2: AM ("Terrace")

Gene & Debbie came about 7:45 & he went to show in Boise with Larry & Kurt.

Jackie & Debbie went to bed & we watched T.V.

Friday, August 4, 1961

105º before noon.

I don't feel very good. I got up late. Ivard took Jerry & Ray to work. Ray came home for lunch & Ivard took him back.

I washed a batch of cloths & put fruit away. Crocheted & worked on books.

Ivard took Dean to scout meeting at Allens at 2: & then took Dale & Jackie up to Park Swimming, I had a nap & we played Scrabble when they came back.

Dean made a cake & we had supper & Ray did chores & went over to Garners to stay all nite he came with Alice to get Jerry to go to show but he wouldn't.

Watched T.V.

Jerry watered yard.

Thursday, August 3, 1961

I took Jerry to work, Ray walked after he got chores done. Jerry picked 9 cups berries before he left & I bottled 9 qts before I took the Kids to Primary at 9:45. They called for Dean to come & work on his pack so Ivard took him up & went & got a part to fix back door & brought Kids home at 11:30. We had to go get Chaney Kids & take them home today. I patched most of day.

Ivard got his sickness benefit check & we went & paid bills & went to Dobbs & had a brace put on muffler. When we came home, Hennis had come & taken the pick-up to fix clutch. Ivard & Dale went up to Dusty Rhodes all afternoon.

I cooked supper & Ivard went & got Jerry & we ate & Jerry & Ray went & worked on boss's yard then Ivard & I took Ray & Dean out to Pinsters to scout meeting & Ivard brought me home & him & Dale went to Stake house to tournment & got home at 10:30. We had to get up at 1: A.M. to get cows in.

Wednesday, August 2, 1961

I got up at 4: A.M. & took Ivard & Ray up to church house & they left on bus for Idaho Falls temple baptismal excursion. There were 25 Kids, 5 men & 3 women. I came home & went back to bed. I got up & took Jerry to work.

I washed up all the dirty cloths & did up all the iorning.

I went up & signed for unemployment & came right home.

Dale went to Garners to Cub Scout meeting & weinie roast at 9:30 & stayed until 4:

I cooked supper & went & got Jerry & we ate & he went to M-Men meeting at Kuna with Mrs Murry - had to give lesson.

I went up to church & got Ivard & Ray at 9: We went to bed early.

Tuesday, August 1, 1961

Ivard got up & took Jerry & Ray to work & went back to bed.

I washed my hair & Dale, Jackie & I went to Kotters & Helen cut my hair. visited until noon & came home & we had lunch & I put fruit away & cleaned up & crocheted.

I patched.

Got supper & went & got Jerry & we ate.

We got ready & Ivard & I & Jerry went up to church to faculty meeting.

Jerry went home after with the Bishop. Ivard & I went & had a root beer after.
