Saturday, December 31, 1960

We got to Nampa at 7:15 the train was over an hr. late. called Gene & he came & got us. I unpacked & Ivard took Ray over to the Bishops to go to Idaho City to church Camp sleighing. Ivard & I cleaned drawers & worked on our bedroom & I washed a lot of cloths at 2: Gene & I & Dean went to town & laid an overcoat away for Kay, on sale, & Bought Gene a new suit & shoes. Got Ivard pr overalls & 2 pr. insulated socks & a white shirt. Got my mattress pad 2 rugs, bath room rug set, 2 bath towels & 6 wash rags out of laway. Gene went to hospital to see Julie while we were shopping. Got $28. worth of groc. Came home at dark & Gene did chores & we ate & Gene went to dance. Ray came home with a sore stomache, run in to tree & got a gash & bruise. I stayed up until 12:20 but Ivard went to bed about 11: Gene got home about 12:30. Ray went to bed early.

Friday, December 30, 1960

We got up at 9: & I made beds & Mother put Jackies hair up in curlers then we had breakfast & Ray & Dean did dishes & I worked on my diary.

sunny nice day - cool.

Mother went over to Bernieces to plan supper together then Ray - Dean & I walked up town & got some groc. for mother & Mother made my new dress.

I made milk Shakes for lunch I packed & had a bath. Mother finished my dress & I pressed it & wore it home. We ate over to Bernieces & & at 6: Ken & Berniece took us to Salt Lake to catch traine. I called Ruth but Kay was down to Claudias the train left at 7:30 Jackie was crying with earache. I fixed her a bed & got her to sleep. Mother gave me a pen of Dads, new throw rug & 2 new silk dresses & 3 lbs candy she made.

Thursday, December 29, 1960

sunny but cool.

We ate breakfast & I made beds & swept up & mother cut me out a new print dress

We put a jig saw puzzle together then Ivard - Dean, Curtis, Jackie & I walked up to store then we came back & had lunch & put another puzzle together. Kids played over to Bernieces most of day.

We made a carrot, suet pudding & at 6:30 we all went over to Berniece's & had supper & Ray & Kent did dishes & Kids played games & Mother - Ivard Berniece & I played Scrabble.

We came home at 11: & went to bed.

Wednesday, December 28, 1960

Lyle went home & Jerry went with him.

We got up about 9: & I made beds while mother got breakfast then helped with dishes & swept floors We visited then went over to Bernieces & played games. Mother fixed lunch & Kids did dishes

We all had supper over to Bernieces & after we got the dishes done we played Scrabble.

Ken went out missionaring again.

It was about 11: when we went over to Mothers to bed.

Dean stayed with Berniece again

It was sunny & nice again today. colder at nite.

Jackie has quite a bad cold & Marlyn.

Tuesday, December 27, 1960

Sunny nice day.

We got to Salt Lake at 7:30 A.M & I called Ray then called Berniece & she came in from Grantsville & got us at 10:30. Kay called Petersons & they came & got him, he's going to stay at Ruth & Rays & go back to school after holidays with one of professors.

We saw what they got for Xmas & visited. Mother fixed lunch. Kids played over to Bernieces most of the day.

I read a book mother has "Thoes Foolish Mormons" & started "Voice of Warning".

We went over to Berniece & had supper & Kent showed us some of their home movies. Ken went out missionarying. We went to bed about 10:30, I sure was tired. We all slept over to Mothers but Dean & he stayed with Curtis & Kent.

Monday, December 26, 1960

left for Salt Lake on 8: P.M train

We got up late & did dishes after we ate & I washed some cloths & at 11: We all got ready & went over to Gails. Lyle & Barbra were already over there. We visited & Lynda fixed dinner & we all ate.

Kay was mad at me because we wouldn't go to Salt Lake & I was mad at Ivard.

About 5:30, just as we were going to play games, Ivard wanted to go home so we came home & brought Stanley & Terry to stay all nite.

When we got home Ivard said if you're going to Utah you'd better hurry. so we packed like mad & at 7:15 Gene took Ivard & I - Ray - Dean - Dale & Jackie in to depot & we caught the traine to Salt Lake. Never even told Lyle goodbye.

Sunday, December 25, 1960

Lyle came

Foggy most of day.

Ivard started on his weeks vacation.

Gene got up & did chores then we all got up & opened our presents. We had a good Xmas. I was really surprised I got a deluxe hot point dish washer

Kids were real surprised with record player. Kay played records all day. We ate breakfast & all went to sunday school programe.

Lyle, Barbra & boys got here from California about 2:30. They opened their presents & looked at ours & we visited awhile & I fixed supper. I called Gail to tell him Lyle was here & he said for us all to come over tomorrow. They were all surprised but Ray, Jerry & I. Lyle called the other day & told Jerry & they told me. Lyle went over to Metcalf's & Kids went to church

Saturday, December 24, 1960

I got up & wrapped presents all morning & helped Kids wrap theirs. Ray cleaned house & Jerry & I went to town to get a few last min. groc. & presents & pick-up laways. Lyle called & told Jerry he was comeing up so we got a few things for his Kids. I wasn't supposed to know he was comeing.

When we got home Ivard had gone to work for 4: & Gail - Lynda & Kids were here & brought their presents. They gave me a picture of the 3 Kids, we didn't open any of the rest. I let Debbie & Jeff open one of theirs too. We ate & they went home about 9: Kids all went to bed but Jerry. I watched T.V & when Ivard came home we played santa clause. went to bed about 1:15.

Friday, December 23, 1960

We got off work for Xmas holidays don't have to go back until Jan. 9th. I came home & Jerry took Kids to school.

I went to bed awhile then I took Jackie to school to Dales party for mothers. brought Kids home & got Ivard & Kay & we went & Paid lites & phone & went to bank & got out laways then went to Caldwell to Gold & Green stamp redemption stores but they were about out of every thing. did some Xmas shopping & came home & ate & all of us but Ivard went in to church Xmas programe & santa clause. Came home & I went to bed & Ivard went to work at 10:30.

Thursday, December 22, 1960

I came home from work & Jerry took Kids to school.

Ivard was to work 8:. Kay & Jerry went & got some eggs & I made 7 Xmas cakes & went to bed. Jerry went & got little Kids from school at noon. They woke me up at 3: & I took Kids in to Primary. Kay went to see Bishop & I went & got feed and groc. & Dean a hammer for school play. We picked up little Kids and came home & had the chilli Jerry made.

Ivard, Jerry, Jackie & I went to Kids Xmas school play & Gene & Ray went & played ball. Kay stayed home & watched T.V. I laid down awhile & went to work at 11: foggy.

Wednesday, December 21, 1960

Kay got home tonite

I came home from work & Ivard was home & in bed. It was foggy. Jerry took Kids to school

I made me some tea & pop corn & read the paper.

Ivard got up & took Jerry in to unemployment office & he had a hair cut while he waited for him.

I made the blouse for Deans school play.

I never got to bed until after I took Dean in to church to go Xmas carroling & sunday school party.

Ivard went & got him about 9:30

Kay called just as I was leaving for work & Ivard went & got him. I went to work.

Ivard didn't work today.

Tuesday, December 20, 1960

Gene still in bed, feels better

I came home from work & ate, read paper & made me some tea.

Ivard & Jerry went to town to see about the payment we can't make on place & they won't extend it, looks like we will loose it.

I made a beanie & apron for Deans school play & worked on pillow.

When Ivard came we ate & at 2:30 Jackie, Ivard & I went to bed.

I got up at 7: & helped them with hot cakes & went back to bed at 7:30.

Went to work at 11: Ivard had to be there at 11:

Had gift exchange at work, I got a Tussey set.

Monday, December 19, 1960

Got letter from Mother

Gene was home in bed again today.

I came home from work & ate made me some tea & read paper. At 10: Ivard & I took car & pick-up in to Dobbs. Ivard had his brakes fixed & I got a new replacement on battery. We went up to rail road then Ivard came home & I went shopping.

Jerry washed, warm breezy day.

I got home at 4: & Ivard was to work. We made my bed & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ray went to Mutual with Max. They played ball & got beat for first time - Gene is their whole team.

Had Turkey dinner at work.

Sunday, December 18, 1960

Gene is still sick, flue, I guess

Rained all nite & this morning hard. Came home & Ivard was to work. I went to bed & Kids woke me up at 1:30 fighting. I took Jackie & got her to sleep & got up & made some tea & worked on books. We ate when Ivard got home at 3:30

Ray went ward teaching with Max & went to priest hood & sunday school & went to Kotters until church time

I worked on a towel pillow for awhile. We all got ready & went to church but Gene. came home at 9:30 & I went to bed until time to go to work at 11: roads were a little icy. was raining when I left home.

Saturday, December 17, 1960

My 26th wedding anniv.

Gene was in bed sick all day

roads were a little icey comeing home. Ivard was all ready home & in bed. I read paper & went to bed. Got up at 1:30 & made me some tea then about 2:30 Ivard, Ray Dean, Dale & I went to town & got school presents, Xmas tree (4.75) & mailed Lyles Xmas pkg. Car wouldn't start so Ivard walked over to Dobbs & they came over & charged battery then we went over & they tested it & one cell was dead. They lent us another until Monday then they will give us a new one.

We ate & they decorated tree while I worked on books then I went to bed & Ivard & Dean went to Stake house & Ivard played ball & won, he didn't work today.

Friday, December 16, 1960

I came home from work & got most of my Xmas cards ready to mail, wrote notes in a lot of them, & at noon Ivard & I went to town & took car to garage to get worked on again, I had to be pushed clear to Caldwell to get it started this morning We went to bank & pd. bills & I went to Dr Lee's & made an appointment for Kay during holidays mailed cards & got $30. worth of groc. Came home & Jerry had supper ready & we ate & I went to bed until time to go to work.

snowed hard this afternoon but was all melted off by nite.

Ivard went to work at midnite

Gene & Ray went in to see high school ball game.

Thursday, December 15, 1960

Kay called, he got engaged Sunday.

I came home from work & hurried & got ready while Ivard took Kids to school & we took Jerry to Boise to air force recruiting station to take his physical. Ivard, Jackie & I spent all morning Xmas shopping We met Jerry at noon, he didnt pass his physical - too nervouse so he won't go for at least a yr. They have him a ticket for each of us a 95 cent lunch so we went & ate then Ivard went to shack & called Nampa to see how many times out he was, & he got a call for 3:30 Boise. It was 1:30 so we dashed home & he changed & went back to work. I went to bed until time to go to work. They woke me up to eat & take Kids in to church to go to Homedale & lay ball, they won, got home at midnite.

sent Lyle a letter & Mothers Xmas

I came home from work & Jerry took Dean to school, Dale stayed home sick. I ate & read paper & got ready & Ivard & I went to town to bank & refinance our car payments & borrowed enough to pay for car overhaul. Jerry went to see the air force guy. He was only one out of 7 to pass test yesterday. He failed misserably, the guy said, on the electronic & mechanic part. the office part he was highest in area. came home at 2: & went to bed. got up at 5:30 & ate & got books up & went back to bed.

Ivard didn't work today

Jerry & Gene went ward teaching.

Ivard didn't work today

Ivard was home & in bed when I got home. Jerry took Kids to school. I read paper & got ready & Jackie & I went to relief society work day & Xmas party & Jerry went up to see the air force recruiter. He had to take a test.

We had a Turkey dinner & all the trimmings furnished by the Presidency, sure good. Had a programe & made Xmas center pieces. I learned how to make a towel pillow. Came home at 2: & went to bed until 3:30 & went to school to see about Deans costume for Xmas programe. brought Dale home & Dean & I went to town & got his material & some Xmas Presents. Jerry had supper ready & we ate & I went to bed at 7: & Jackie & all the rest of them but Ray went to Stake House & watched Ivard play ball He made 14 Points & won.

Monday, December 12, 1960

sent Mother letter & Kays call

I came home from & work & ate & read paper & sorted cloths & went to bed at 9:45 & Jerry washed the bedding.

Ivard left for town at 11:30 buming around, spent most of day at Stockman. I called him there at 5:45 & he went up & met Kids at church & they went to Middleton & played ball, Nampa 5th won.

I got up at 2:30 & went to town & mailed Kays mission call & went Xmas shopping. Came home at 5:30 & Kids were eating I ate & Gene milked & they left for game & Jackie & I & little Kids went to bed. phone rang half dz. times. Ivard & Kids came at 9:45. Ivard went to work at 11:30, I went at 10:45

Ivard went to work at 7:30 A:M for 8: & got home at 4:

Sunny nice day.

Jerry - Gene - Ray - Dean & Dale went to Priesthood and sunday school. Jackie & I stayed home & I washed 3 batches of cloths & got cows in out of Stack. I made some pop corn & read True Story magazine. Cooked a roast & got books up. made no bake cookies & a freezer of icecream & Gene & Jerry froze it & we ate when Ivard came at 4: then they watched "Wizzard of OZ" & I wrote Mother.

I went to bed at 6:30 & Gene did chores & him Jerry - Ray Dean & Dale went to church.

Ivard & Jackie came to bed about 8:30.

I got up at 10:30 & bathed & went to work at 11:20.

Saturday, December 10, 1960

Ivard got home at 6: & put his cold feet on me. Gene did chores & made hot cakes for breakfast & I washed cloths & iorned. Ray did dishes & cleaned house.

Ivard to up & watched ball game & tended Kids & Jerry - Gene, Ray & I went to town Xmas shopping. Gene got his money from Wally. We got our bonus milk check & I got groc. We came home & I mixed up a freezer of icecream & Ivard froze it while Jerry fixed hambergers & trimmings & punch for supper.

I laid down after supper & went to sleep & Ivard got me up to undress when he went to bed.

Jerry & Gene went to Stake dance & got home at midnite.

Ivard came home from work & went to bed.

I came home from work about froze. sunny today.

I made 6 loaves of bread & washed some cloths & at noon Jackie & I went to bed with Ivard. He got up & worked on pump. We ate supper.

I had a bath & got ready & at 5:30 Ivard & I went in to garage & got car then bought a couple of 29 cent presents for gift exchange at Mutual officers Party at church. We went at 7:30 & had barbacue Turkey supper & danced & had gift exchange. came home at 10: & watched T.V. Ivard had to go to work at midnite.

My nite off.

Ray stayed home from school.

Thursday, December 8, 1960

Called Kay to tell him he had his mission call to Andes Mission

I came home from work & made 4 loaves of whole wheat bread, 6 apple pies & 24 pigs-in-blanket & a pot of baked beans. I was so tired when Jackie & I went to bed at 2:30.

Dale went to birthday party on Danny Lobar & Ivard took Dean in to Primary then got anti-freeze from Don & took over to Dobbs. He brought Gene & Dean home. I got up & ate & went back to bed until time to go to work.

Had ward teachers after I went to bed.

Ray went to Givins swimming with Scouts

Ivard went to work at 11:30.

Wednesday, December 7, 1960

Ivard was home & in bed when I got home. The car Dobbs lent us froze up on me & I had to stop at Service station & have it thawed out. I was froze to death. I made some pop corn & got warm & read paper & went to bed with Ivard.

Ivard got up & went after Kids.

Jerry got supper.

We ate and Gene did chores & him & Ray went in & had physical for basketball then they went roller skateing with Owyhee ward sunday school class.

I went to bed until time to go to work at 11: Ivard didn't work today.

Tuesday, December 6, 1960

took car to garage

I had to get pushed clear to Caldwell to start car & it was so cold & wind shield was froze up. When I got home Ivard was home & in bed & I got him up & he took Kids to school & took car in to Dobbs & waited until they tore it down, needs a complete overhall, water got in oil. I went to bed & he called & I went in at noon & we went to bank & Pd. bills & I went to Wards & bought a Sterio-hy-fy for Xmas. We got groc. & went to Dobbs & looked at new cars, they let us borrow an old one while they are fixing ours.

Jerry made lime pies & we ate when Ivard & Jerry got home from getting Gene then Jerry took him up to hyway to meet sunday school class & go to Givins

Ivard went to Stake house to play ball & I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivard went to work at midnite.

Monday, December 5, 1960

Bishop called to say Kay was going to Andes Mission.

I came home from work & Ivard was to work. Jerry took Kids to school. I ate & read paper & went to bed after Avon lady came & delivered my order then she came back at noon with my change & I ordered some more, me & Jackie went to bed again.

Jerry washed my bed & rest of cloths.

Ivard got off work & waited at Stockman to see a guy about basket ball & brought Gene home at 6:

I got up at 3:30 & made 2 mince meat pies, 2 bannana & 2 shells & 4 individual pies & Jerry made soup. We ate & went to bed until time to go to work. Ivard bid Boise job in & went to work again at 10:30. Kids went to Mutual.

Sunday, December 4, 1960

I came home from work 7 Ivard was home & in bed. I ate & washed 3 batches of cloths & went to bed.

Jerry - Gene & Ray went to Priesthood at 9:15.

Ivard got up & took little Kids to sunday school & I never heard any thing. Jerry got dinner & woke me up at 2:30 to make gravy. We ate & I got books up.

warm but cloudy.

I came home from work & Ivard was home from his 2nd shift in night & was in bed. I read paper & went to bed & Jerry woke me up at noon when him & Ray got home from selling Xmas decorations & cards & we went to Adrian & Nyssa selling cards. Jerry Ray, Dean & I. We never got home until 8: & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ivard missed out because we had car but he went at 11:

Gene worked for Wally today. we went to Gails awhile & they sold him 2 boxes cards & a Xmas decoration.

Jerry got home at 11:15

Gene went to work with Ivard & sold candy bars.

I came home from work & Ivard was already home & in bed. I ate & went to bed at 9:3. Jerry woke me up some time & said he was going to Boise with Ralph. Ivard got up & went out & picked corn.

Jackie got me up at 1:30 & we went after Kids, got nearly there before I found out it was only 1:30 so we came back & I got diary up & we went to bed again at 2:30. I went after Kids at 3:30 & cooked supper then at 6: I went & got Gene from practice.

Ivard finished picking corn today.

We ate & I went to bed until time to go to work. Ivard went to work at 8:, some one got sick, & was home at 10:45 got overtime - made 30. then some one sprained their ankle & he went again at 1: A.M. & was home early 50. tonite.

Thursday, December 1, 1960

Got home from Salt Lake

Dean & Dale got out of school at 1:30 for Teachers meeting. Ivard got them & Mrs Barlow took them to Primary.

I got in to Nampa on 6:30 A.M train & had call boy call Ivard at Boise & tell him to pick me up, he was just leaving for home. We came home & Ivard & I went to bed until noon then Jerry, Jackie & I went over to Simplots & got my check & back to Nampa to bank & pd. bills & got groc. droped Jackie off at Primary at 4: & got her & Kids at 5: then went & got Gene & came home & Jerry got supper while I worked on books. We ate & Ivard, Jackie & I went to bed. Gene took Ray to scout meeting & came home & watched T.V.

Ivard went to Boise to work at 10:30 & I left for work at 11:, rained on us going to work.

I spent $44. for groc. Ivard work out in field all afternoon.

Wednesday, November 30, 1960

I got in Salt Lake at 7:30 A.M & called Ruth & Ray but they were already to work so I called Ruth C. & she xame & got me & we visited awhile & I changed & at 10:30 she took me up to Bountiful Mortuary & I met Mother & them. We stayed there until 11:45 then went to Bountiful 4th Ward to Aunt Pearl Batt Hulse's funeral, they are takeing her to Rigby to bury tomorrow. We went back to mortuary awhile then up to my cousin Beth Hulse Pearce & ate then Ken, Bern. & Moother took me down to Ruths & I changed & they droped me off at Deseret Book store on their way home to Grantsville at 5:, I bought a few things, went & had a malt & walked 4 blocks down to U.P. Station & got a mag. & read until 7:30 P.M. when I cought train for home.

Gene & Ray went to party of 5th & 2nd ward Priesthood - Ivard worked at Boise.

Tuesday, November 29, 1960

I went to Salt Lake on train

Hard cold wind -

I had a big bump on back tire when I came out of work I decided it wasn't good any way so I'd drive until it blew out & not change it, I got clear home & Ivard was home & in bed so I got him up & he took Kids to school & changed my tire.

I got ready & Jackie & I went in to relief society conference & work day. droped Jerry off at unemployment office, he didn't find any work. Picked Mrs Perks up. Had good dinner

Came home at 1:30 & went to bed until 5:30. Ivard went to town at 3: & got me a pass & watched Gene practice & brought him home. Jerry had supper ready & we ate & Gene did chores & Ivard took him & Ray to Caldwell to play ball & Jerry went to Effie's & Ralphs.

I had bath & packed bag & drove pick up in & cought 8:30 traine for Salt Lake. Ivard got pick up after game & went to Boise to work

Monday, November 28, 1960

real frosty this morning, could hardly scrape it off car window

I came home from work & Jerry took Kids to school & I read paper & went to bed at 9:30 & never got up until 4:

Jerry changed beds & did the washing & made some cranberry sauce & cranberry bread.

Ivard picked corn all day, isn't done yet, had to fix picker half the time.

I went to town after Gene at 5: & Jerry rode in with me. He had supper ready & we ate when we got home & I laid down until Gene did chores then I took Gene - Ray & Dean to Mutual & Ivard went to bed.

Court of Honor & Dean pinned 2nd class badge on me. Came home & laid down a hr & went to work. Ivard left for Boise at 10:30.

Sunday, November 27, 1960

mother called

Ivard had to go to work at 7: A.M.

Kids ate, & Gene, Ray, Dean & Dale went to priesthood & sunday school. Dean went to Allens all day.

I got books up and washed my hair.

I made turkey soup for supper & we ate when Ivard & Kids got home.

I wrote to mother and read a story continued in 2 Goodhousekeep

Ivard & Kids all went to church & I went to bed.

Ivard brought Kids home. Dean, Dale & Jackie & they went to bed and he went to Fire Side with big Kids at Bice's, Jerry had to tlak.

Mother called about 10: from Idaho Falls to say Aunt Pearl died, Mother sold her place. Ivard & Kids came at 11: I went back to work at 12:30 tonite.

Saturday, November 26, 1960

I got up at 5: A.M & fixed Kay a lunch & took him in to catch the bus for Rexburg. He had to be back for conference to be interviewed by general athority. The bus was an hr. late. When I got home Ivard had gone to work.

I washed cloths & finished my big iorning & patched for an hr. Ivard got home early & unloaded a load of corn. Gene went to practice at 10: A.M & Jerry & Ray went selling Rays Xmas centerpieces then Ray came home & made 3 more & went & sold them. We ate & I laid down with Jackie at 6:30 & went to sleep & never woke up until midnite Gene worked for Wally from noon until 7:30 then he went to Junior Gold & Green ball with John, he took our car in to his place, he took Julie Rhodes, Jerry bought him his corsage this morning. he got home at 12:30.

Friday, November 25, 1960

I put a turkey in over & washed & iorned all morning.

Ivard had to be at Small claims court at 10: about a bill we owe co-op. so Kay droped him off & Gene off to basketball practice & he went to hospital & had a blood test to go on mission. Ray went selling the Xmas centerpieces he makes & Jerry went shopping. Dean made cranberry Jello salad & I made dressing & cooked yams & when the guys came home Ivard picked corn & Jerry, Kay, Dean & I went to Caldwell & got milk check & got a shower present & groc. Came home & ate our Thanksgiving dinner & Ivard & I, Jerry & Kay went over to Nyssa Stake House to Pete Bryce & Mair Bair's wedding reception had fun dancing. got home at 1: A.M Ray went to ball practice. Ivard didn't work.

Hard, cold, dusty wind & cloudy.

Ivard came from work at 6:30 & came to bed. I got up at 8: & made biscuits & cooked eggs & had grapefruit & we ate when Gene got chores done. Kay took Gene in to ball practice at 9:45 & he went over to Caldwell to be interviewed by President Isin for mission.

I washed some cloths & Ivard cut all the Kids hair.

When Kay & Gene got home at noon we all got ready & went over to Gails to Thanksgiving dinner, Turkey & all the trimmings - sure good. The Blanch's were there too, 19 of us.

We came home at 5:30 because Gene had to milk Wally's cows.

We watched T.V. & ate pie.

Ivard didn't work today.

I came home from work & Kay took Kids to school & I hurried & made 5 pumpkin pies & Kay took 2 of them to school for Kids Thanksgiving dinner.

I came home from work & took Kids to school. Ivard was already home & out doing beets. I made some tea & got ready & Jackie & went to relief society. We got groc. & came home at 12:30 & went to bed at 1:.

They were through with beets when we got home & Ivard was in with last load. They didn't do very good, too weedy. Ivard came home at 2:30 & came to bed.

We got up at 4:30 when Ray got home from school & he got supper & Ivard & I went & got Gene from first basketball practice & went & picked up church teams suits

I came home from work & took Dean to school. Dale was sick & didn't go

I gathered up cloths & washed 4 batches. Made some tea & got dinner & Jackie & I went to bed at 1:30. I woke up at 4:30 when Ray came & got my books up. & he helped me make my bed. He got supper & we ate when they came in from beets.

hard wind all day.

I came home from work & went to bed. Ivard took Kids to sunday school & I got up & made tea & washed some cloths, went to bed at 11:30 & woke up at 2:45 & got up & Gail & Lynda had brought Gene home. Ray had made hambergers & Ivard said to bring his in & I told him no one was going to eat in on rug because it wouldn't stand another scrubbing. He got mad & said I could go to Hell. he didn't give a dam, right in front of Kids. I got made & slamed door & went back to bed & bawled myself to sleep. Ivard left for work at 3:10 & Gail went home too.

Dale brought Butler kid home. I got up all afternoon & Jackie & I went to bed when Kids went to church. Ivard got home just before I went to work.

Ivard picked a little corn & Wally came & beet some tops off beets but they didn't haul any because there was no one to drive truck. Ivard watched ball game & went to work at 3:

I got up in afternoon & helped Ray scrub front room rug & move all the furniture around & I made the Kids a Kettle of soup for supper. Washed rugs & things.

I came home from work & Ivard was to work. Ray didn't go to school. He helped me & I made 4 appled pies, & 8 cinnamon rolls & he poped corn & we baged up 6 bags of carmel corn & 11 of green mother goose corn & got it all ready to take to bizzar then I went to bed for 1 1/2 hrs then got ready & at 4: Ray, Jackie, & I took stuff in to church to bizzar & Ray stayed to help. I bought some cookies & brownies & 2 loaves of bread & some clover leaf rolls & some sewing items for Xmas & Jackie & I came home & Ivard did chores & took Kids in to church & they ate & saw show & had fish pond. I went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & passed Ivard going in to town to his rules test, He'd come home from work & ate & got Kids up.

I took Kids to school & ready paper, made some tea & washed a batch of cloths & made a batch of cookies for bizzar tomorrow.

They came to do beets but still too wet.

Ivard came home at noon & I went to bed at 12:30 & got up at 2: & Jackie & I went in to bank, Paid some bills, got groc. & left Jackie at Primary. Ivard followed us in to work.

Mrs Schroll came selling Avon for about an hr. & I bought $17. worth for Xmas.

Ivard got up & ate & we all went to bed at 1:30 then he woke me up at 3:, he had to go to work. I got supper on & went & got Kids. Gene & Ray came home 1/2 hr. early.

I came home from work & read paper & ate & went to bed awhile with Ivard.

Kids took Dean selling Xmas cards & Jerry borrowed his money & went to Utah about 2: with Ralph Shy & Effie.

I got up at noon & Ivard & I went to Caldwell to last foot ball game of Season. Nampa won 27 to 6. It was real cloudy but didn't rain until tonite & it really poured.

Gail was to game & went home & got Lynda & Kids & came over & Ray tended Kids & we went bowling. Ivard & I won both games & didn't have to pay. They went home & Ivard & Kids went to bed. I watched T.V. until 1: A.M.

I came home from work & Ivard was already home & in bed. I read paper & went to bed at 9:30. I got up at 3: & took Jackie in to Primary & picked Gene up & we got groc.

Colder this morning sunny today I came home & Ivard was already home & in bed. I made me some pop corn & read paper & went to bed. Jerry woke me up at 3:15 & thought it was 4:15, so I laid in bed awhile then got up & made biscuits for his meat pie then I went in & got Gene from practice & took him to Wallys to get paid.

We ate & Gene took Jerry over to Nyssa to speak in their Speech festival

I came home from work & Ivard was home & in bed. There wasn't any water so I got him up & while I got ready he took pump motor off & I took it to town to be fixed & went to relief society work day. I made a rose corsage for bizzar. We had a real good dinner. I got motor & came home & went to bed at 1:30 & Ivard fixed pump. I got up at 4:15 & went to town & got Gene from practice

Jerry had supper ready & we ate & got ready & at 6:30 Ivard & I went over to Homedale church to Stake genelogy Turkey banquet. It was sure good. We got home at 10:15 I laid down 1/2 hr. & went to work at 11: Ivard left about 10:45.

I got up at 8: & fed guys. Ivard didn't do beets today. He watched game & fixed car & water & drain. Gene did out ends of beets.

Ray & Dean cleaned bed rooms & changed mine & theirs around.

I changed all the beds & washed all day - breezy & sunny & nice, got them all day. I cooked supper & patched all afternoon.

We ate & I went to bed at 6:30 but never did get to sleep Kids came in then Gail Lynda & Kids brought Jerry home & it was so noisy.

Got note from Kay

Gene got home after game right behind us. We took Roger Kotter.

I got up & helped get Kids off to school. Ivard came home a little early & came to bed awhile then he went to do beets & took Kids to school. I did 6 qts cauliflower & put in freezer & Jerry made a German choclate cake & I frosted it then at 1: Jerry, Jackie, & I went to Caldwell & took our 7 Gold Strike books & 6 green stamp book & got Xmas for Kids. Put my dimes in bank. took Jackie to see toys in Sears & drug Store. Came home & made potatoe soup & ate, Ivard came early. Gene did chores & went in to game, beat Boise 22. to 6. The rest of us went over to Owyhee ward to home comeing party & programe on Jerry. Ivard & I had to talk. Ivards nite off & I laid off. We got home at 11:, Jerry stayed over to Effies & Ralphs.

at 2:15 Lynda brought Debbie, Jeff & Kristine to Jackies Party & at 2:45 Helen Kotter came & brought all the other Kids but 2 & when they came we had Jackies Party 9 girls & 4 boys they had a lot of fun & got a lot of things. we gave her table & chair set, chrome. gave each girl a watch & the boys a stage coach & they were really tickled. we had a family party & barbacue & went to bed & Gene took little Kids trick or treeting then him Jerry & Ray went to Mutual Party.

I ate & went to bed until 2: then I took Jerry in to Dr. he didn't see him, left after sitting an hr & half. I took Jackie & bought her 2 pr. shoes & laid her away a Xmas dress. We got groc. & took her to Primary then I got Jerry & we went & had a cool & came home.

Jerry washed car this morning was nice this morning but turned off stormy tonite. Just got home at 5: & Gene called & I had to go back in & get him.

I came home & took Kids to school

Ivard had come home & ate & went to do beets. He stoped in on way from unloading & I went with him & brought pick-up home & at 10: I took seed to town, only got 11 cents. $92. for 800 lbs. I got last yrs beet payment & went & paid Utah oil a 3 mo. gas bill. got groc. & came home & went to bed. A bad wind came up on way to town & about blew me off road, so dusty I had to turn lites on & it really turned cold. didn't last long & warmed up again this after noon.

I got up at 4: & went to town & had an oil change & greese job on car & got Jerry some stamps

Came home & Ivard was home & we ate & went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & Ivard had come home & eaten & taken Gene in for another 8: test and gone to do beets. I took Kids to school & Ivard stoped in on way home from unloading beets & took me over to get pick-up with seed boxes. 2 combines came & did our seed, we only got 800 lbs I got ready & Jackie & I went in to relief society at 10: We got groc. & cam ehome at 12:30 & Jackie & I went to bed for nap.

Jerry washed my bed while I was gone & we made it when I got home.

I got up & ate when Ivard came & we went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & Ivard had already come home & eaten & taken Gene to school for 8: test & gone to do beets. We changed all the beds but mine & I sorted cloths & Jerry washed all day & I went to bed.

I got up at 4: & went over to beet field & left car & took pick-up to town to Wards & got 2 new snow tires put on the back for Ivard & got him some gas & went & got to seed boxes at Dickersons then I picked Gene, neighbor kid & Ray up at school, Ray stayed to work on float.

Jerry had supper ready & we ate & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work. Gene & Ray went to Mutual & Jerry made beds.

Jerry - Gene and Ray went over to Owyhee ward to Priesthood & sunday school.

I came home from work & went to bed. I got up at 2:00 & washed my hair & had a bath & at 3:15 Dale & I went in to church to his Primary class party & he got his top pilot wings. We got groc. & came home & I fixed sandwiches & choc. milk, while Ivard milked, to eat after we came from church & at 6: we all went over to Owyhee ward to Jerrys home comeing. He gave a real nice talk. Ivard & I had to sit on stand. We got home at 10: & ate and Ivard left for Boise to work & I laid down a half hr. and I went to work.

Gene left for Pocotello at 9: this morning. We heard game tonite & they tied 13 to 13. The banquet really went off good this yr., no confusion like last. came home & went to bed an hr. & went to work. Ivards nite off.

We got Paid a day early got a 10 cent raise recoactive to Aug. 20., got 2 checks, my back pay was $30. I came home from work & Ivard was home & gone again to do beets. I took Kids to school & spent all day makeing 11 apple pies & washing. Put 10 pies in freezer. when Dean & Dale came from school we took Jackie in to Kotters & left her & went up & got Dean & Dale a pr. shoes $23. got cow feed & groc. got Jackie, she didn't want to come & came home & she was going to run away.

Got up & ate & I washed cloths & iorned most of day. Gene went & milked for Wally & Ivard did ours. Gene came home & ate & hauled 2 loads of beets for Wally then went up & worked for Max a little while, they broke down.

Ray got home at 1:30 from scout trip.

Ivard took knives in to be welded at 10: & at noon I called & they were done. I gave him $80. to pay Dobbs (73.) at 3: I called Stockman & he said he'd be home in half hr. at 6: I drove by & he was still sitting in there. We were supposed to be over to Gails to go to my birthday dinner. I went over & took Jerrys suit from cleaner, for tomorrow. There wasn't anyone home so I got groc. & came back to Nampa at 8:30 & Ivard was still sitting in Stockman. I went to show (2) & at 11:30 I went in Stockman & really told Ivard off & he came right home, without my money or knives.

Kids didn't have to go to school

I came home from work at 8:30, we have next 3 nites off. Ivard was home & watched T.V. They started to mow seed & broke blade. I washed some cloths & Ivard & I went to bed awhile Ivards nite off too. Gene did fence ect. Dean tended Kids all day.

At 3: Ivard & I went to Nampa & Paid bills & he got a hair cut & I borrowed 175. at bank to pay off Dobbs & get my bedspread & blanket out of laway. We went to Boise at 5: & I got my big bedspread & blanket 43. I got me a pr of black flats & a pr black dress shoes. We had a milk shake & went to Bronco Stadium & watched Gene tie Borah 0 to 0. Ivard & Gene went over & work in beets for Wally.

Kids didn't have to go to school, Inst.

I came home from work & read paper & ate & washed some cloths then I went to bed & Jerry watched world Series Pittsburg won. Jerry fixed stuff ready to put on for supper & at 3:30 I took him in to Dr. Ross & Dean, Dale & Jackie to Primary then I went to Wards & got Ivard 4 flannel shirts & jackie a red cordory Jacket & plaid pants for her birthday, exchanged a pick-up tire that was wrecked & got a red rubber floor mat for car. got Kids & Jerry & Gene & came home at 6: & Gail, Lynda & Kids came & ate & took Jerry home with them. Jerry had to go with Wayne Barrett for high council Sunday, over to Parma - Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & Ivard was home & Gene & Ray had taken the pick up to school to take Rays stuff in to go up to Church camp with Scouts until Sat., they leave after school.

I made 2 apple pies & a little one, one banna pie & 10 in individual pans & a shell & a Kettle of chilli while Ivard watched world Series. Jerry washed cloths.

Ivard, Jackie & I went to bed at 1:30 & got up at 3:30 & I went & got some gas for tractor & they picked stuff in garden.

Its clearing off.

We ate & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work at 10:30

No water this morning

Got up & Kids ate & I took Gene & Ray up & waited for bus in raine then took little Kids to school. Pump guy came & him & Ivard were about all day pulling it, had a 2 in crack in pipe (plastic

at 10: Jerry & Jackie & I went over to Nyssa  to Gails & had dinner & left Jackie & I took Jerry over to draft board then got Jackie & left for home, got feed, & groc. & Jerry got some groc. for 2 yr. shelve. got home at 5: & took Ray in to Kotters & got Jerrys luggage & we visited to Kotters a little while.

came home from Utah

got up at 7:30 & it was raining & rained most of day. We ate & packed & mother fixed me one more dress. We told them goodbye & left for home at 11:, stoped at Irvins & had lunch. rained on us clear to Burley where we ate at 5: & got gas. We got to Boise at 8:30 & Ivard marked up & we came home at 9:30 & got things put away & I laid off & went to bed & Ivard went back to Boise to work. Kids showed Jerry house. The Pump was broke so Ivard shut it off.

This is 4th nite I've laid off but I was so tired.

It rained on us from Mountain Home to home.

We had breakfast & Ivard did dishes & mother & I unpicked & made over my new black dress I've never wore & one a lady gave Mother for me, too big.

Berniece had us over for dinner.

We got ready & at 5:30 Ivard Mother, Kids & I went to Salt Lake to Annies to Home comeing for Jerry. I hardly knew him he's so thin. so good to see him again. Had a lot of family there. got out to Mothers at 1: A.M & went to bed. Jerry came with us, were going home in morning Jerry is nervous, but says he feels pretty good.

We got to Ruth & Rays at 6:40 A.M & she fixed breakfast & we visited awhile. At 10: we went down to Marv's & Ivard watched World Series & I had a nap. Visited Sara & Fat & Alv. few min.

Called Stellas at 7: AM but Jerry had already gone to Conference.

at 2: we went to Salt Lake & had hamberger, fries & milk shake then went to Grantsville to Mothers & stayed all nite

We had supper over to Berniece's. Ivard & I took her to store, we stayed with Mother & Dean slept over to Bernieces.

Larell has sugar dibetis bad, just found out yesterday. We visited awhile & went to bed We were so tired. Jerry called, was at conference 15 hrs today

Friday, October 7, 1960

left for Utah at 11: P.M after Jerry
Ivards nite off.

I laid off work for 3 days, came home & changed cloths & had a color shampoo then went over to Kotters with it wet & Helen cut & fixed it & I went up town & got groc. & Jackie some red cordroy capri pants & white Turtle Neck sweater, 2 pr. red socks & a dress, supposed to be for her birthday. Came home at 11: & Ivard went to bed & I washed cloths & packed to go to Utah. made meat loaf & cooked supper & we ate when Kids came. laid down an hr but couldn't sleep we packed car & got ready & took Jackie in to Kotters & had her hair cut then we all went to foot ball game. We beat Burley 20 to 7. Gene & Ray went in Pick-up. Cold wind. after game Ivard - Dean, Dale, & Jackie & I left for Utah at 11: stoped in Boise & Ivard laid off.

I came home from work & Ivard was already home. I went to bed & Ivard watched world series. Dean & Dale got out of school at 1:30 for teachers meeting & Ivard went & got them. Got Jackie to sleep then Mrs Barlow came & took Kids to Primary & Ivard & I went in & Paid Ins. on car & got some added coverage & got gas & paid bills, My pay day.

Came home & ate & went to bed until time to go to work. Gene & Ray went to basket ball practice. Jerry called from Salt Lake & wants us to come down & get him after conference.

I came home from work & Ivard was already home. He watched World Series & I made 2 banna pies & washed 3 batches of cloths. I went to bed at 11: & Jackie & Ivard went at 1:30 & I got up & tended cloths & got ready & went in to bank at 2:30 went to Pennys sale & laid away some rugs & towels & got me a big bed sheet, went to dress show & laid away a pr. red capri pants & white Turtle neck sweater & dress for Jackies birthday. Got feed & groc. & went & waited at depot for train to come in, thought Jerry might be on it, wasn't the people from New Mexico called & said they wouldn't come if Jerry wasn't home yet they were going home. I got me some french fries & coke while I waited for Gene. Came home at 5:30 & Ray got supper & I worked on books

I came home from work & Ivard was home. He went to bed & Jackie watched T.V. and I got ready & went in to relief society at 10: got home at noon & Jackie & I went to bed.

Got up when Kids came from school & helped Ray start a meat pie then laid down until Ivard brought Gene from foot ball practice & we ate.

We got ready & Ivard & I went in to the Church to genelogy meeting, got home at 9:30 & laid down an hr. & we got ready & went to work. Ivard left for Boise at 10:30. I left at 11:

Beautiful day, warm & sunny hasn't froze garden yet. I came home from work & Ivard was home from Boise. Ray stayed home with sore throat. I sorted cloths & he washed them & cleaned house & tended Jackie & Ivard & I went to Caldwell to Bank & put my dimes in Savings & put some money in bank for Gene, Jackie & Dean. Went to opening of new "Penny Wise Drig" & got Jackie a big doll will curley hair & soft body for 3.29, for Xmas. Went & Pd bills in Nampa & got groc. Came home at noon & Ivard went to bed. Jackie & I went at 2: Ray got supper & we ate after Ivard brought Gene home from Practice We all went to bed at 7:30 & Gene & Ray went to Mutual with Max. We went to work.

Gene & Ray went to priesthood & sunday school, Ray gave a talk.

Ivard wouldn't go take little Kids, had to watch T.V. all day. I was so mad.

I washed 2 batches of cloths & fixed 13 qts cauliflower & 2 heads & put in freezer & cooked dinner.

Worked on my books half a day.

Gene & Ray went to Stake fire side tonite.

We all went to bed early & Ivard left for work at Boise at 10:30 I got up & had a bath at 11: & left for work at 11:30 didn't have to be there until 12:30, had to get Gene up to help start car.

Got letter from Mother

Gene milked & at 7:45 We all took Dean in to town to pass hand bills & we went & picked apples at Van Slykes, Gene Ran tractor Ivard, Ray, & I picked 115 boxes.

Came home at 2: & washed 2 batches cloths & ate & Ray & I went to town & got groc. & his shirts out of laway, came home at 6:30 & Ivard & I took Ray in to bowling Alley to bowl a game then go on a progress. dinner, sunday school class.

We went to Pix & saw from "Hell to Eternity" & Cow boy show Went & had chow meine after. Came home at 11: & I went to bed, Ray came right after.

Ivard & my Nite off

Got 2 pr. garments from Mother for Birthday.

I came home from work & Ray was home so I took hot water bottle & went to bed I was having chills & ached all over.

Ray took everything out of Music room & cleaned good. They woke me up at 2: & Ivard hadn't come yet, went picking.

I had a pkg. of 2 pr. lace trimmed garments from Mother 2 sizes, too big. I went to town to hospital & paid them off with Ins. & went to bank & had to put in most of my extra money to cover checks Ivard had written at Stockman, $34. + 10. bad check chgs. I was so made I closed our checking account. Ivard & Jackie came in & brought check. I got groc. & came home & we ate & Ivard & I Ray & Gene went in to foot ball game. Gene Played a lot.

I came home from work & took Kids to school & ate & read paper then I made Rays & Jackies pajama bottoms.

I am 45 today. I got card from Jerry & note & card & letter from Ruth. Dale cut me some dish rags out of a curtain & gave me a card.

Cooler this morning but sunny & nice all day.

Jackie & I went to bed at 2:30

Ray stayed after school getting leaves at Park for biology & never came home until 7: with Kids from Primary. I was so mad no one got supper & Gene went to practice at 7:30

Ivard went picking then to Stockman & got home after Kids did, he fixed little Kids soup. I blew my top I was so made. some birthday. Ivard had my watch fixed. I stayed in bed until time to go to work. Ivard left for Boise at 10:30.

Cloudy this morning but sunny & breezy this afternoon.

I came home & took Dean to school & ate & read paper & laid down & went to sleep until 12:30, Jackie watched T.V.

I got up & worked on books & fed her & started water on lawn & washed a couple of batches.

Jackie & I went to bed at 3:15 but couldn't go to sleep

I got up when Ivard got home from work on Rail road at 4:30.

Ray helped me & I made apple dumplings for supper & 2 apple pies. Ray got supper & we ate when Gene got home at 6:30 Ivard bid on Boise job & got it, he goes at 11:30 tomorrow nite. We went to bed & I didn't wake up until Phone rang at 11:30, riders. We were 5 min late

I came home from work & took Dean to school & read paper & got ready & Jackie & I went to relief Society Opening Social at 10: Brunch & programe came home at 12:30 & washed 3 batches of cloths out then at 2:30 Jackie & I went to bed.

Ivard went to Pick apples today. & got home at 1:30 & bathed & watched T.V.

I couldn't go to sleep & at 5: I got up & helped get supper

Dean came home from school with a sprained wrist, he fell off merry-go round. We ate when Gene came at 6: & I went to bed & Ivard. It was 8:30 before I could go to sleep. Went to work at 11: Ivard didn't work.

Gene went back in to Practice at 8: & Ray milked.

Monday, September 26, 1960

Hot nice, breezy day

On the way from work I went to Dairy & got check, cheese, icecream & brush them got gas & a few groc. got Dean to school just as bell rang.

Ivard was to work at Rail Road.

I changed all the beds, Ray had mine washed & I did 6 batches.

Relief Society Teachers came.

At 1:30 Jackie & I went to town to bank & got groc. saw Ivards pick-up at parking lot back of Stockman so I called him & he was there - I'm sure made he said he was going to waite for Gene. I cooked supper, stuffed peppers, mashed potatoes, califlower & cheese sauce Ivard just went in S. to call, he went & watched Gene practice. I went to bed until they came & we ate & I went to bed at 2:30 & Ivard - Gene & Ray went to Mutual & ball practice after.

Beautiful day.

I came home from work & went to bed & Ivard scratched my back then he, Gene & Ray went to Priesthood. Kids got me up at 11: & I got ready & we went to sunday school. Ivard & Gene came home after Priesthood. When I got home Gail, Lynda & Kids were here. Ray went to Stake meeting then to Kotters until after church.

I cooked dinner & Gail went & got some icecream & stuff for punch. They went home at 5: & I went to bed until time to go to work. All the Kids went to church & Ivard & Jackied came to bed at 8:

I came home from work & Ivard & Ray took car & went to pick apples. Gene was over to Wallys to work he came home at noon & loaded his ten weiner pigs & Ivards one & took them to Caldwell sale. I went with him. We just left them & came home. Ivard & Ray came about 1:30 & Ivard watched ball game. I went to bed until noon & after we came from Caldwell I cooked supper & bottled 8 qts spagetti sauce & watered lawn. Ray scrubbed & cleaned house good, was still at it when I went to work at 11:

I went to bed at 6:30 until time to go to work.

Gene got home from Rupert at 3: AM so him & little Kids went to bed at 8: so Ray could clean.

water housing for hose in to motor rusted out & sprang a leek on way to work last nite & had to be pushed this morning to start. stoped twice for water. called Dean from Ellna's to stay with Jackie & took car to Dobbs. They had to go to Caldwell for part. salesman brought me home at 11: & I went to bed. Dale stayed home too. got up at 4: & made 2 apple pies & put on big Kettle of tomatoes for Juice & Ivard & I went to Nampa & got feed & groc. & I brought car home.

I came home from work & took Kids to school. Ivard went from work to pick apples & got home at 4:

Cold & Jackie has a cold so I took my check & ordered oil & warmed up the house.

I sewed Rays pajama bottoms then kept breaking thread, so didn't finish them.

letter from Jerry

I came home & took Kids to school. Then I ate & washed 3 blankets & a bed spread and sewed Jerrys new pajama top. Jackie & I went to bed at 2:30 & got up at 4:40 when Ray got home.

Cold wind all day.

I got book up when I woke up and read paper.

Ivard was gone when I got home, Kids thought he went to pick fruit. he did. I called Stockman at 5:45 & he said he'd be right home. I went to bed at 7: & he came at 7:45. I was so mad.

I went to work at 11: & he followed me in to work too.

I came home from work & bottled 24 qts peaches & put 4 qts in freezer. I washed a batch & hung out & Jackie & I went to bed at 3:15. Cooler & cloudy & windy

I guess Ivard went to pick from work. Dean said he called & said he'd bring Gene home. I got up at 5: & got books up & went back to bed at 6:

Ray got supper. Ivard & Gene came & they ate & Ivard came to bed. I stayed in bed until time to go to work.

Jackie had ear ache.

Jerry called

I got up & made hot cakes & Kids went to school. Gene & Ray pushed Ivard in car to start it & he took it in to Dobbs & they picked him up & he didn't go pick apples, too late I changed all the beds & washed 6 big batches & finished all my iorning., even todays. Ivard & Jackie went & picked 2 bu peaches & he peeled one batch & while they cooked we made all the beds then at 4: went to town & got car. he was comeing right home & help me do peaches but he never showed up. I called Stockman & he said he'd be right home, but he never, I think he went to work at 11: I went to bed at 7:30 & Ray went to Mutual. I couldn't sleep Jerry called at 8:30. at 10: I bathed & went to work.

Ivard came home from work & went right to bed.

I got up late, after Gene & Ray had gone to Priesthood & read paper & had a bath & me & Kids went to sunday school. The Bishop relieved me of my relief society job so I could spend more time on genelogy. after sunday school Gene went over to Nyssa & went to conference.

I got groc. & came home & got dinner & Ivard was still asleep.

We ate & watched T.V. Ivard wouldn't go to church, too tired & 1st out. Kids went to go in car & starter was dead so they went in Pick-up & I laid off.

Ivard went streight to pick apples from work and I fed Kids & took Dean over to Allens to go on scout hike.

Gene went over to Wallys all day.

I washed some cloths & iorned all day, then I didn't get done.

Ivard went to pick prunes from work I guess, its been sine midnite Wed. since he went to bed. then he got up early Thurs. morning.

I laid down awhile & Gail & Lynda came & Dean tended Kids & Ivard & I, Gail & Lynda went in to foot ball game at 8:15. Gene went at 7:, he didn't even get to play. came home & Gail went home & Ivard went to bed until time to go to work. I watched T.V.

I came home from work & Ivard was gone to pick prunes. I took Kids to school then I ate & read paper & bottled 15 qts of peaches & finished up the 2 bu. makes 43 qts. I fixed a big bowl for supper.

Jackie & I went to bed at 2:30 & I got up when Kids came from Primary. Kids ate & Gene did chores & at 7:30 I took Gene to practice & I drove up town & went in Stockman & there sat Ivard playing cards. he came out & gave me check & said he had to be to work at 11: & it wasn't worth driveing home, was I mad. I got Gene at 9: & came home. I went to work at 11:05 & there sat Ivard still. I went in & he said it was 12: he went.

Wednesday, September 14, 1960

I came home from work & Ivard was home & in bed. I ate & read paper & at 9: Jackie & I went to bed. I got up at 11: & started on my peaches.

Ivard was 3 times out so didn't go pick prunes. I got him up at noon to help me. He went to work at 3:30.

I bottled 21 qts sliced peaches & 7 qts. then when Kids came I went in & got groc. & waited for Gene. He said to come at 5:30 & it was 6:30 when he got out of practice. I came home & went to bed at 7:30. Ray made 8 qts prune butter while I was gone. he got supper. I went to work at 11:

Tuesday, September 13, 1960

I got up & made hot cakes & Ivard went to pick prunes & Kids went to school. I read paper & got books up then I washed cloths & cooked the rest of prunes & poured of juice & made 24 bottles of Jelly & run the pulp through to make jam tomorrow. I washed 5 batches. Jackie & I went to town this afternoon & got feed & groc.

Ivard came home at 4: & went in to get a hair cut & never got home until 10:45 & he was called for 11:, he was 10 min. ate. he followed me in. He'd been to Stockman. I cooked a good supper, stuffed peppers I was sure made. Gene came at 5:30 & did chores & went back to Practice.

Ivard went streight to pick prunes from work. He got bumped & is on extra board now. He came home at 8: he'd been messing around in town since 3:30 I was just going in to find him & passed him on hill.

I came home from work & the Kids had a bunch of corn picked. I made 10 batches of prune ham, got 40 pts. & it was 2: when I started on corn. I got 42 cobs & 14 qts. in freezer. Ray changed all the beds & I washed 5 big batches.

I went to bed at 7: & got up at 7:30 to go see where Ivard was then I went back to bed but at 9:30 I was still awake, I was so tired & ached all over so Ivard called in & laid me off. Gene & Ray went to Mutual with Max Thunder & rain storm at 10:

I came home from work so tired I went to bed & didn't go to sunday school. Ivard was home in bed but he got up at 11: & watched ball game

Gene, Ray & Dean went to priesthood & sunday school. and Dale tended Jackie.

When Kids came home they got me up & I made gravy & got dinner. Ray put a roast on before he left.

We ate & at 4: we went over to Gails & took Debbie a birthday present for tomorrow. They weren't home so we left present & came right home. Gene drove.

Ray went to Kotters after sunday school & stayed until church. I went to bed & Ivard & Gene & Dean went to church with Max. Ivard & I went to work.

I came home & every one was gone. Gene was working for Wally so I called him & he said Ivard came home & took Ray, Dean, Dale & Jackie to pick prunes, then got home at 1: Ray was supposed to work for Max but he never.

I ate, read paper & went to bed at 9:30. I got up at 4: when Ivard came to bed. He got paid for prunes so I went & paid Hales & got groc. & had cool. Came home & got books up while Ray finished scrubbing & waxing kitchen then I went back to bed I was so tired.

I came home from work & ate & read paper after I took Dean to school.

I bottled 44 qts of prunes when Ray came he got supper & ground 40 cups of prunes to make jam tomorrow.

Gene went to foot ball game, their first. They beat Baker Oregon 2 touch downs - Gene played 3 min. Ivard got up at 9:30 & went in & saw last half & went to work

I went to work at 11:15 had to waite for Gene to get home.

It was my pay day & I stoped on way home from work & filled car with gas & got 16. worth of groc., 100 lbs sugar. I just got Dean to school as bell rang.

Kids had corn picked & I shucked it & put 86 ears in locker & 4 qts cut off, after I read paper & ate.

Ivard went streight out to pick prunes from work.

Gene came home on bus & we ate & he did chores & went to practice.

Ivard & I went to bed at 4: & I slept an hr. before we ate then went back to sleep & never did go to sleep before it was time to go to work, had gas too bad.

I came home from work & took Kids to school then I ate & read paper.

Kids had a bunch of corn picked & after I bottled 24 qts prunes, I shucked corn & put 68 ears in freezer & 10 qts cut off.

Ivard went streight from work over to pick prunes he got home at 4: with 2 bushels & 1/2 for me to do.

I washed 3 batches of cloths today, blankets.

Ivard had a bath & we went to bed until time for work.

I got cloths in & washed some more & made lunch & Ivard & Dean cooked breakfast & we ate & Ivard, Jackie, & I went over to Van Slykes & picked prunes, 45 boxes. We came home at 5:

I took Ray up to corner after I made him a gal. of punch & he went to Silver City with his sunday school class Gene did chores & went up & worked for Max until 2:30 then he went to foot ball practice. Ivard changed water & I made a lunch & he & I went over to Van Slykes & picked prunes & pears. Came home at 5: & I made a big Kettle of punch & barbacue & we ate when Kids came then Gene & Ray went to Mutual.

Ivard came home from work & came to bed. I got up & read my lesson & had a bath & at 11:30 me & Kids went to sunday school. Ray & Gene went to priesthood & Gene went to 2nd ward sunday school then came home.

Ivard was too tired to go.

I put a roast on this morning & came home & made gravy & salad & we ate then all of us road over to Metcalfs & got a lug of tomatoes & a crate of cantalope had root beer on way home.

Gene did chores & him Dean & Dale & Ray went to church. Ivard & Jackie went to bed & I watched T.V. until it went off the air. Ivards nite off tonite too.

The Hardy's got up & left early without wakeing us.

Ivard called at 6:30 & I got up & fixed us a lunch & he came at 7:30 & we went over to Van Slacks & picked prunes awhile then they put us in the pears & the sand burs were awful. We made $11. between us

We got home at 4: & when I got out of car I got cramps in the back of my legs above my knees in back, sure hurt I washed & laid down for awhile & Ivard took a bath & went to bed at 5: he was half dead, not much sleep all week. I made potatoe soup for supper.

We had a terrible wind & dust storm about 6: that lasted about an hr. power kept going off. Gene did chores & we watched T.V. Gene didn't Practice today. Ivard went to work at 11: really rained in nite.

I came home & ate & read paper & went to bed until noon. We have tonite & the next 3 nites off, boy am I glad.

A Mr & Mrs Hardy from New Mexico, friends of Jerrys, called at 4:30 from Boise & I invited them out for supper & spend the nite. & they got here about 6: right after Ivard got home & cleaned up & Gail & Lynda & Kids came & brought Dean home, They didn't stay too long, only had one head-lite. I made stuffed peppers & had corn on cob & potatoes. Had raspberries for desert. I made Genes bed & the Hardings went to bed at 8:30. right after Ivard did, he went to work at 11:

Ivard started picking fruit at Van Slacks

I came home & ate & went to bed at 9:30 & Kids woke me up at 1:30.

Ivard came home & ate & left again before I got home. went & picked prunes over to Homedale, got home at 5:

I went to town at 2:30 & went to hospital about Ins. on Kids tonsciles then I got groc. & came home. Ray washed 2 batches & took everything out of his & Dales room & cleaned good.

Gene cooked supper, his trout out of freezer, corn on cob. fried potatoes, peas, fried squash & tomatoes. We ate & Ivard & I went to bed at 6: Gene did chores & went to practice at 7:30. We went to work at 11:

sent Jerry letter & money
got letter from Jerry

I came home from work & Ivard was allready home & in bed. I ate & went to bed and Ray woke us up at noon so Ivard & I got up & went in & paid bills & went to bank. I wrote Jerry a note & mailed with his money. We never had enough money to pay all our bills & it was one of Ivards biggest checks. had to pay 5 beet hoeing kids. We sure are in a mess. came home at 2: & went to bed & Gene went to foot ball practice. he came home at 6: & we ate & he did chores I was supposed to go to Dr. but didn't. We went to bed until time to go to work at 11:, I followed Ivard in.

I came home from work & ate & went to bed.

Ivard & Kids finished hauling hay & got water in beets. Gene & Ray cooked dinner & I got up & ate at 1:30

Ivard & Jackie & I went to bed at 2: but couldn't sleep. I got up at 3:30 when Jackie did & worked on my books.

Gene went to foot ball practice at 3:

I got up & finished Jackies pajamas tops all but buttons & button holes.

We went back to be & got up at 10:30 & got ready for work & Ivard followed me in.

Got letter from Jerry

Nice day. I came home & ate & sorted cloths & washed 4 batches & got my books up.

Ivard & Kids hauled hay.

Ivard & Gene went to Caldwell at 1: & got Calf milk & Ivard signed acre report for beets then Gene went to foot ball practice at 3: & Ivard went to work at 4:

I went to bed at 3: but was up every little while.

Ray took everything out of Genes bedroom & closet & washed woodwork & scrubbed & waxed fllor & he washed another batch of cloths. Gene came home & we ate & he did chores & him & Ray went to Mutual & left Ivard pick-up & came home with Max.

Sunday, August 28, 1960

I came home from work & ate & went to bed then Gene & Ray went to Priest hood. I got up at 11: & went to sunday school I finished reading Vol. I of Basic Course in Genelogy & gave it back.

Ray brought Roger home. stoped & got icecream. Came home & Ivard had beans picked & on to cook & potatoes on, I put roast on this morning I finished getting dinner & we ate & I read paper & went to bed at 4:, until time to go to work.

All the Kids went to church but Jackie & Ivard. Ray delivered fast offerings this afternoon

I went to work at 11:. Ivards nite off.

Saturday, August 27, 1960

Dean went to stay at Gails & Dale came home

I came home from work & read paper & ate & went to bed.

Cold & breezy.

Kids woke us up at 3:00 & Ray went in with Gene to foot ball practice & had a hair cut. at 4: we took Dean & Jackie & went to Dairy queen & had a sundee them we got gas & went over to Metcalf's & got a lug of tomatoes & a crate of cantalope; they said Lyle wasn't comeing up. We went over to Gails & Dean tended Kids & Gail & Lynda took us over to Ontario to ""East Side" cafe & bought our supper I had chow Meine. Gail lost bet he'd lose more weight than me. We got groc. Got home at 10: & I laid down until 11: & went to work. Ivard's nite off. Gene & Ray were to dance got home before I left.

Friday, August 26, 1960

Kay left for Salt Lake

I came home from work & Ivard was home & out baleing hay. I read paper & ate & went to bed at 9: at 10: Gene baled hay & Ivard came to bed. Kids woke us up at 3: Kay was just leaving to take Gene to football practice & send is luggage up to Rexburg. Ray said he took 2 of his shirts & Kay said he never. can't find them.

I made some lemonade & read "A Basic Course in Genelogy" Vol I.

Ray scrubbed & waxed Kitchen & cleaned front room & got supper Ivard went out & baled hay again

Gene got home at 9: & said he had waited for Kay to leave on traine for Salt Lake, never even told us good bye. Ivard & I went to work.

Thursday, August 25, 1960

I came home from work & read paper & went to bed. Ivard was home & inbed.

Kids woke us up at 12:30 fighting.

at 2: I got up & got ready & Ivard & I took Ray in to register & Gene stayed to foot ball practice for 4: We went to bank & Gene got his pants he bought & left to be hemmed. I took my last cent & bought baler twine.

Ray bought us a drink at Pac Out passed Kay comeing to town in pick up. He got mad at me before we left.

We got home at 4:30 & I went to bed. got up at 7: we all went in to church to our 1st anniv. ward reunion of 5th Ward. had a good supper. left pick up there & I took Ivard in to get it on way to work & he went to work.

Wednesday, August 24, 1960

I came home from work & ate & sorted cloths & read paper & went to bed with Ivard at 9:30. I got a cramp in foot & got up at noon & washed cloths got books up & made chilli. I iorned.

Kay & Gene went in & Gene got his physical at 9: then went to foot ball practice.

At 2: Gene & Ray went to town & Gene registered for school.

We were eating when Kids got home.

Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

I left at 11: just as Ivard was getting up. I got up at 10:15 & had a bath.

Kay took Gene to practice & went to Cald

I came home from work & Ivard was home & he raked hay until noon then came to bed. I read paper & went to bed & Dean woke me up at 12:30 & I got up at 1: & got ready & we went & bought some cookies & went to Stake house to Stake Guide Skill show & programe. Deans class did the most. after we got $25. worth of groc. & came home at 4: & I cooked supper & Gail Lynda & Kids came & ate with us. They went home at 7:30 & Dale went with them for rest of week. I went to bed with Ivard at 8: until we had to go to work at 11:

Kay & Ray went up to Max's & got Paid.

Monday, August 22, 1960

Gene did Wallys chores

I came home from work & it was cloudy & cold so I went to bed. I got up at 1: & cut out a pr. of pajamas for Ray & Jackie & got Jackies half made.

Gene went to foot ball practice at 10: & took Dean in to Perks to practice & Ivard went them to see about a different job, he got bumped.

Kids came at 3: they'd walked up & got car, Ivard was in Stockman he went to work at 4: then doubled over at midnite.

I washed my bed & made it. Ray made some fancy twist rolls & got supper Gene went & did Wallys chores & him & Ray went to Mutual & left pick-up for Ivard & came home with Max I went to bed until time to go to work.

Sunday, August 21, 1960

I came home from work & had a bath & got ready & Ivard & I dashed in to church & met Atwell Perry & rode to Emmett with him to a genelogy 5 Stake convention. There Were 12 from our ward. first session was at 10: then we ate lunch with a bunch of guys from Owyhee Ward & at 1:30 went to afternoon session. we got back to Nampa at 4:30 & went & had a Cool. We came home & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Kay was pestering Ray just as we left & he jumbed out his bed room window. He went to Kotters after church & stayed all Day. Kay & Gene wet to priesthood & sunday school & Dean & Dale stayed home with Jackie. They all went at nite but Ivard & Jackie. Ivards nite off.

Saturday, August 20, 1960

got letter from Jerry & mailed him a letter & extra money tonite when I went to work.

Ivards nite off.

I came home from work & Ivard was home & watering. I read paper & ate & went to bed.

Ray cleaned house.

Ivard finished cutting hay

I got up at 1:30 & Kay Gene & I took Ray & got Roger Kotter after we went over to Wallys & got Gene's money. We went shopping & got Gene's cloths & I laid away some socks & overalls & got Dean & Dale each a pr. to start school. We went & had a cool & went to Park & drank it then we let Ray & Roger out to meet other Kids & got swimming for Rogers birthday. We came home & Ivard & I went to bed until 6:30 & Ivard did chores & when Gene got home from doing Wallys chores we went to town & got a special delivery letter from Jerry, gas & groc. & met Ray & brought him home.

Friday, August 19, 1960

I came home from work & washed my pickles & put them to soak in cold water. I went to bed at 10: & got up at 1: & Ivard took Gene & Dale in to Dr. Daynes. I got Jackie to bed with me & read a story then went to sleep. Dean did dishes.

Kay & Ray worked for Max & came home for dinner.

Ivard cut hay, half of the seed the bugs had wrecked.

I got up at 4: & put syrup on pickles & cooked supper made stuffed peppers.

Gene did chores & went in to get his foot ball suit.

Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work & Ivard was to work, floated on 7: job.

Kay & Ray were to work at Max's.

I washed 2 batches & cut up cucumbers & put them in lime water until tomorrow.

I went to bed at 11:30 but didn't get mch sleep, Kids kept wakeing me up then I got Dale & Jackie to bed with me for bap.

I got up at 6: & Gene & I went in to drug store & got calf medecine & went to Stockman & Gene went in & got Ivard, he was playing cards again. we had a Cool & got groc. & came home, Ivard came right after us, got supper & we ate & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Wednesday, August 17, 1960

I dashed home from work & had a bath & Ray & I went in to Kotters & I went to Boise to Dr. with Leva, Helen & Emma. I lost 5 lbs & one in. on bust & hips. we got back to Helens at 1: & she tried Jackies pajamas on Mellissa to see how they fit & I took her the pattern. Ray picked her cucumbers & I brought them home. Ray & I went shopping & he got all his school cloths. came home at 3: & I went to bed. until time to go to work.

Ivard went to work at 4:, floated.

I went to work at 11: Kids don't feel very good.

Kids didn't work today.

I washed 3 batches of cloths & sewed most of day, finished Jackies pajamas

Kids feel better today

Ivard came home & went to bed until noon then he got up & helped Kay, Ray & Dean haul straw they got it all hauled.

I cooked supper & we ate at 5: & Ray did dishes Ivard milked & he & Jackie bathed & I went to bed & got diary up at 7:30 then they came to bed & we slept until time to go to work The alarm didn't go off & I woke up at 11:15 we got to work after swing had left but the whistle hadn't blown.
