Tuesday, June 30, 1959

I came home from work & fixed breakfast & Ivard & I & Jackie went to Nampa & got Ivards check & Pd bills & got groc. came home at noon & cooked dinner.

Kids did beets most of the day & Ivard fixed pump & cultivated & watered beets. We ate at 2:30 & I took Jackie & went to bed.

Gene went over to Brysons & worked a cople of hrs this morning & again tonight.

Kay went to ball game & Ray milked.

I woke up at 8: & Jackie was so dirty that I took her in & bathed her & washed her hair with me, we had a bubble bath. We went to bed at 9: but I didn't go to sleep. left for work at 11:

Monday, June 29, 1959

I came home from work & Gene was just leaving to work at Brysons & rest of Kids were in beets. Ivard cleaned the Kitchen drain out, took all morning. He watered beets.

I went right to bed & got up at 11: & cooked dinner & Ray did dishes.

I went to bed & took Jackie when Ivard left for work at 2:30 - He's back on regular job at 4: - left early to get part for pump.

I got up at 5: & worked on my books.

Gene went back over to Brysons to set water at 5:30 & Kay went to soft ball practice & Ray milked.

I went to bed until time to go to work.

Sunday, June 28, 1959

I came home from work & went to bed & Kay - Gene & Ray went to Priesthood & Sunday school. Ivard was too late, checking water.

I got up at 12:30 & cooked dinner & we ate & at 2:30 Ivard left for work & I went back to bed but didn't get much sleep the Kds made so much noise.

Gene did chores & I got up at 7: when they went to chruch - Kay - Gene & Ray, & fed little Kids & watched a couple of T.V. shows. Jackie & I just got to bed at 8:30 when Ivard got home early. He came to bed.

I got up at 10:30 & got ready & went to work. didn't sleep tonight - Just laid bed.

Saturday, June 27, 1959

Ivard came to bed & Kids got up & went out to do beets after they ate & Gene did chores.

cool & cloudy but nice this afternoon

I mixed 6 loaves bread & made a pan of biscuits for supper. got dinner & Ivard went out & hoed beets with Kids.

I did 4 batches clothes & last nights & todays dishes. washed 2 big Kettles of beet greens & cooked one for supper

got called back to Simplot tonight.

Ray got home at 6: & went out & did 2 rows beets.

We ate & I went to bed until time to go to work. Kay went to Lucky Clover Dance then at 11: he brought car home & Puch came & got him.

Friday, June 26, 1959

Ivard got up at 6: & had to be to work at 7:. Gene milked. Kids got up late & ate & went out in beets.

Cloudy & cold.

I wrote to Jerry & fixed lunch & washed out Jackie some pants & undershirts.

Gene went at 1:30 to finish that guys hay where hes been working. Came home about 3: & did beets again.

At 4:30 Ray left with Max Barlow for overnight scout trip. I made Barbacue & milk shakes for Kids supper & at 7: I went to Nampa to find Ivard. I called in & he didn't double. He was at Stockman playing cards, had huge piles of chips in front of him. He would not come home. played 8 hrs. went to work again at 11: & I came home.

Thursday, June 25, 1959

Kids got up at 5:30 & hoed beets. Ivard got home at 6:30 & milked I got up at 7: & got breakfast & Gene went to work in hay at 8: & Kids went back out in beets. they came in about 11:, rained them out. Ivard went to bed at 9: I mixed 6 loaves of bread & made a pan of biscuits, made a cake & cooked liver, beets, greens & potatoes & we ate at 12:30. Ray & Dean did dishes & Ivard & I went to Caldwell & took 2 tires for Jack & Jerry to sell. got feed & came home. We played 3 hands of Penochle after I went & got Gene from work Ivard furrowed out some beets & got water in them & Gene did chores. Ivard didn't work.

We ate & went to bed early

Kay left at 4:30 & went over to Claudia's (18th birthday) went to Boise to supper & show.

Wednesday, June 24, 1959

I worked on books all evening & got a bunch of payments ready to mail.

Kids got up & did beets & Ivard did chores & I got breakfast & Gene went to work in neighbors hay after we ate, & Kids went back out in beets.

Ivard & I got ready & were in Caldwell at 9: met Mr. Bishop at Gigways office & we got all settled up on our old place & got rest of our money, little over 2000. after paying barn & exp.

Came home & ate & Ivard & Kids finished hauling our hay & Kay & I went to Nampa & I signed for unemployment, got groc. & Kay got Claudia a birthday present.

We ate & they all had a bubble bath. Kay - Gene & Ray went to Mutual & we went to bed.

Tuesday, June 23, 1959

I got breakfast & Ray went to work & Kay. Gene & Dean hoed beets then a guy came & got Gene to help in hay so Ivard & little Kids hauled hay all afternoon

I got dinner & Kay came home & ate at noon.

I laid around all day & read a sex book for women, I found under Kays mattress.

Kay & Ray got done with their job in hay

Kay & Gene cleaned up & went to Caldwell to play soft ball. Ivard did chores & we ate & went to bed early.

Ivard didn't work.

Monday, June 22, 1959

Barlow bought a church calf
got letter from Jerry

Ivard got home at 6 A.M & slept until 8: Ray went to work at 7: & Kay went at 8: I cooked breakfast & we ate at 8: & Ivard & Gene put cultivators on & he cultivated beets & Gene & Dean hoed.

I changed all the beds & sorted clothes & washed 7 batches in between getting books up, makeing my bed - cleaning up house & I had dinner ready at noon & Kay came home & ate.

I did breakfast & dinner dishes & Dale & I went to town & got baler twine & Ivard finished baleing hay. I cleaned bedrooms upstairs & made beds.

Kay came home at 6: & him & Gene went to church soft ball game, to play. Ray came home & cleaned front room & bath room. Ivard did chores

Sunday, June 21, 1959

Gene did chores & was late so Ivard - Kay & Ray went to Priesthood without him. I had a bath & the rest of us went to sunday school stoped & got 2 1/2 gal icecream & Ivard a cake & came home & Ray got dinner & Gail - Lynda & Kids came & we ate. Gail gave Ivard 3 pr. socks & we gave him the chair - foot stool & 2 pr. garments. We watched T.V. & Kids did dishes.

Gail went home at 5:30

We watched T.V. & Gene did chores & Kay & Ray went to church.

Ivard made pop corn & when Kids came from Church we went to bed.

Ivard had to go to work at midnight

Duaine - Nancy & Sybil came & visited awhile.

Ivard came home at 7: & did chores. Gene went to work for Bryson at 6:30, Kay went in Hay for neighbors & Ray went up on hy-way & worked in hay Ivard went to bed for awhile then hoed beets & watered.

Me & Dean took stuff out of music room & I washed woodwork & windows & moped & waxed floor & got everything back. Fixed dinner & Kay came home & ate. cleaned front room & changed everything around & they brought Ivards Father Day chair. Jerry sent Ivard a card.

Kids came home half dead they were so tired & hot. Ivard - Ray & I & little Kids went to Nampa & got groc. & we ate at 8:45 & watched T.V. awhile.

Friday, June 19, 1959

Ivard went to work at 11: P.M. stoped om Caldwell & Kay got gloves & we got a foot stool with green stamps.

Gene got up at 5:30 & went to work at Brysons & Ivard came home at 7: & did chores. Kay went up to neighbors above us & worked at 8: I got breakfast & washed some clothes.

Ray & Dean hoed beets awhile then did dishes. & went back out in beets.

Ivard tended water & furrowed our corn.

I washed my hair & got dinner & Kay came home & ate because that guys wife is away. I went to Caldwell to bank, out to Simplots & got my check up to Davenports after tete cups, come to Nampa & got root beer, feed & groc. & went to Hales & got Ivard a Strata lounger chair for Fathers Day, & out to Yorgensens & got Ivard some garments. came home & we ate & Ivard did chores & baled hay & Kay - Gene Ray & I went over to Owyhee Ward to Vanae's reception got home at 11:30.

Thursday, June 18, 1959

no one got up until late. We ate & Kids went out to hoe beets & I iorned. got dinner & we ate & they brought our brand new side delivery rake out & Ivard got the hay raked. Ivard spent all morning fixing an electric fence around ditch bank.

I finished iorning this afternoon, 92 pieces.

Ray Evelyn & her mother came & visited awhile this afternoon Gene made a cake & Ray made tapoica pudding & they ate supper.

Kay went ward teaching with Barlow.

Ivard had a bath & just got in bed when he got called for work at 11:, left at 10:30.

Wednesday, June 17, 1959

Gene hayed for neighbor above us all day & Ray worked for Bryson until noon.

Dean & Dale went up to corner, Kay took them, & went to Primary with Barlows. Kay laid around all day.

I iorned until noon & fixed dinner & we ate & at 2: Dean Dale Jackie & I went to Caldwell to bank then I came to Nampa & signed for unemployment & got some groc. & came home. & iorned awhile & Ray fixed supper.

Ivard watered all day & got 4 rows beets hoed.

Kay took Ray in to Mutual & came back & we all went to Nampa-Caldwell drive Inn & saw "Around the World in 80 Days," Gene took us. Ivard didn't work.

Tuesday, June 16, 1959

Ray went to Brysons until noon & Gene worked over to neighbors until about 10: I worked on books & dampened down a mo. iorning, don't feel very good.

Ivard watered & cut hay until 1:30 & we ate & he went to work at 3:

Gene finished cutting hay & did chores & him & Ray hoed 2 rows of beets apiece.

They ate & Kids went to bed. I watched T.V. untl it went off the air then I went to bed & laid awake waiting for Ivard. He got home at 1:15, got off at 11: He'd been to "Seven Seas," had 3 beers. I was mad.

sent Jerry 12 page letter
He got Oregon Income tax refund $13.90.
I started on a diet, first 3 days liquid.

I got up & fixed Kay & Gene's breakfast & Gene went across the street to work in hay & Kay went to Nampa to shed guys to do peas but they weren't ready so he went to Nyssa to Gails. I went back to bed & got up when Ivard got chores done & fixed the rest of their breakfast then worked on books at 10: Ivard, Jackie, Dean, Dale & I went & got Ivards check & pd. bills & got groc. & Ivard bought a new hay rake & corn cultivator. came home & had lunch & Ray went to work for Bryson. at 1: Ivard fixed mower & cut hay & I got Jackie to sleep & finished books, washed 4 batches clothes & got supper. Dale went to neighbors & Dean went selling cards. wrote Jerry while I waited for Ivard to do business. We took Ray in to Nampa Bowling Center at 5: for Sunday school party.

Sunday, June 14, 1959

Gene did chores & some of them bathed & Ivard - Kay - Gene & Ray went to Priesthood & sunday school. We were going but Dale used all the hot water & I couldn't bath so I went back to bed & read paper. I got up at 11:30 & had a bath & was in bed when guys came home. got up & helped Ray fix dinner & we ate & every one had nap. Bullens came & visited & told us all the news. They sure liked our place. at 7: Kay & Ray went to church & Gene was still milking. Ivard, Jackie rode in to Albertsons & got 2 1/2 gal. icecream & some groc. ate icecream & watched T.V. went to bed about 9:30.

Saturday, June 13, 1959

I got up & got Ivards breakfast & he left for work at Boise at 6:30 A.M. Gene cultivated beets & Ray milked & I went back to bed. got up at 8:30 & fixed Kids breakfast & Gene & Ray set water in beets & Dean & Dale herded cows on ditch until noon. I washed 5 batches of clothes & dampened some down. Kay washed car & vacumed it & did windows inside & out.

I vacumed front room & Dean dusted & Ray scrubbed & waxed. I iorned about 15 pieces.

Kay got supper & we ate when Ivard got home about 5: then Ivard cut a couple of rounds of hay & broked pittman bar. Dean went card selling, his 2nd order came, but no one was home. Kay left for Claudias at 6:30, they were going to Clodette Days wedding. got home at 1:

Friday, June 12, 1959

Ivard got up & went to work at Boise at 6:30 A.M. & doubled, never got home until 1: A.M.

Gene got up & did chores & we ate & he took Dean & Dale out & started watering beets, had to clean out corrigates.

I spent most of the day washing 6 big batches of clothes & takeing care of them.

At 4: Kay drove Ray, Jackie & I to Nampa in Pick-up & Ray bought him 3 blue throw rugs for his bed room, he was all day washing wood work & cleaning it. I got 2 new fitted bottom green sheets. Ray bought a gal. root beer & we got a few groc. Some gal swiped pick up trying to park then took off before Kay got her name, not too much damage, Kay reported it. We ate & Gene cultivated & did chores & Kay finished cutting lawn. Gail & Lynda & kids came, had icecream, they went home at 10:

Ivard left for work at Boise at 6:30 A.M. Gene did chores & him, Dean, & Dale made last setting of water in graine. then Gene made cookies. Ray & I took everything out of my bed room & washed woodwork & windows & washed all the furniture then waxed polished it & vacumed the rug good & put up my new curtains & my new white bed spread & 2 white throw rugs.

When Ivard got home at 4:45 we took Gene, Dean, Dale & Jackie to Nampa & got Dean a brand new blue Swin Bike & Dale a red one. Dean had 28. & Gene lent him 22. We chargeded Dales. Came home & Ray had supper ready & we ate & we washed all the windows on outside & Ivard put up screens on our bedroom & Kay started to mow lawn. They did chores & checked water.

Wednesday, June 10, 1959

Ivard cultivated beets & watered hay. [Gene] got paid & Kay drove him & I & Dean & Dale to Nampa & Kay & Dean & Dale went around looking at bikes & Gene & I went shopping. Gene got new work shoes, watering boots & a hat & I got new Dacron curtains for my bed room, rods, mattress cover & 5 dish towels. we got cleaning stuff & groc. & had root beer & bought a gal. home for supper.

Kay took Dale in to Primary & we got him when we went to town.

We ate supper & they did chores & Ray went up to corner & went to Mutual with Barlow & Ivard & I & Kay & Gene went to "Terrace" & saw "Gigit" got home at midnight.

Tuesday, June 9, 1959

Ivard got up & milked & went to work at 8: & Gene went to work at Brysons until noon.

Cloudy & cold. had to turn on furnace.

Ray made french toast & they ate. I got books up (diary). My leg hurts.

Ray planted my petunias & weeded flowers.

I laid around, my ankle & hip hurt.

I made barbucued spare ribs for supper & we ate when Ivard got home. They did chores & we all went swimming at Givens at 8: We got home about 10: & had icecream & went to bed.

had letter from Jerry, came Sat.

Gene got up & went to work at Bryson's & Ivard did chores & cultivated beets until noon. I worked on books & sent Jerry a birthday card. washed a batch of clothes. Helped Ray plant a bed of Petunias. Ivard went over to Labor camp & paid the Mexicans for thinning beets.

At 2: Ivard & I, Ray, Dean, Dale & Jackie went to Caldwell to bank & got groc. had a root beer & brought a gal. home & had root beer floats for supper.

I made potatoe salad & fixed supper & we just got through eating when Gene came from work, he ate & did chores & Ivard & I drove in to Nampa & saw about work. Ivards on extra board ow

We got up at 7:30 & got ready & I packed & at 8: we checked out of hotel & went down town to Jolly Joan & we all had breakfast, gased up & left Portland, for home, at 9:15 by way of Bend. Had dinner & gased up at Bend. stoped at Burns for a pop & gas. got to Vale at 9: & stoped at drive Inn & had hamberger, fries & a banna split, gased up & came over hill. let Stanley out & went up to high school & left suits & Kids & we came home. It was 11: when we got home. Kids were all asleep but Ray.

I sure was tired & my ankle hurt.

It was cool to ride.

Saturday, June 6, 1959

Ivard woke me up at 4:30 A.M. so we listened to radio & I read My True Story magazine. got up & had a bath & at 8: we went down town to Jolly Joan & had breakfast then drove back up to hotel & Ivard went with Glen to see a friend & June & I walked down town, 9 blocks & went shoping, got Jackie a dress & play pants & Debbie a short suit & Jeff some little pants. walked back to hotel, got blister. Met Ivard & Glen & all the Kids & went down to Jolly Joan & had dinner at 2: then I went back to hotel & read & ate candy & Ivad took Kids up to Multloma stadium. at 4:30 June & I walked up game started at 5: We beat Gaston 5 to 4 to keep State Title. We watched A-2 & part of A-2 game then at 11: Ivard & I, June & Glen went down to Jolly Joan & ate. Kids went to Jantzen Beach. quite a few.

Friday, June 5, 1959

left for Portland

Go tup at 4:30 & had a bath & packed & at 5: A.M. Ivard & I & Kay left for Adrian left Adrian at 6:30 for Portland & State Baseball tournment. There were 4 cars Our, Mr. & Mrs. Ward, Mary & John Thompson & the Harpers & 15 boys. We had Kay, Stanley & Sal & Tony Marteniz in our car. We stoped at Huntington & had breakfast. Stoped at Legrand & gased up & I drove. Kay drove awhile. We stoped at the Dalles & had dinner & gas. stoped a Bonivile dam & fish hatchery. got to Portland at 5:30 & checked in at Mallory Hotel on Yam Hill. Ivard & I had a nice room on 8th floor, bath, twin beds, radio & T.V. We cleaned up & all went down town, 9 blocks, to Jolly Joan & had supper & window shoped. then Ivard & I went back to hotel & went to bed. Too tired to go to show. Gene worked for Bryson.

Came home from work & got ready & Kay & I went to Nampa & I went to "Peacock" & had a short hair cut & color shampoo & Kay went & had shocks put on front of car then he came & got me & I got me 3 pr. shoes & him a pr. then he took me to Albertsons & I had lunch & got groc. & he went back over to station & flushed out radiator. came home at 2: & Ray had dinner ready & we ate & Ivard & Kay went & got Puch & went to Adrian to ball practice. I washed clothes & iorned a half basket of things & finished up my new dress. I went to bed early, right after Ivard & Kay got home.

Ivard watered & cultivated some beets.

I came home & Ivard was home in bed. I ate & went to bed. Ivard got up at 9:45 & took Dale in to Primary & he took car to Don Born's & had new shocks put on rear & oil change & greese job. He got home at 3: & brought Dale & ate & went to work. He was bumped & floated on 3:30 job. I got up at 3: & got my books up & washed 4 batches clothes & hung out. Patched a couple of things & finished up my new dress.

helped Kids fix supper & dampened some clothes. We ate after Gene did chores.

Ray went to Mutual.

I went to bed 9: & went to work for last time this summer. laid off. They go down Sat.

Tuesday, June 2, 1959

I came home from work & Ivard was home & had the beets finished cultivateing & a crew of 40 Mexicans in. They finished thinning all but 4 rows, Kids will do.

I went right to bed. They got me up at 11:45 & Ivard & I, Jackie & Dean & Gene took Kay to Adrian to last regional play off for Base ball. We beat Mopin 5 to 1. We go to State Tournment at Portland the 6th. stoped in Homedale on way home & had a milk shake. got home at 5: & Ivard & I went to bed until time to go to work. Kay took Pick up & went over & took Claudia to Ontario to show, got home at midnite. I took Ivard to work on my way.

Monday, June 1, 1959

sent Jerrys money.

I got up at 8: & made waffles & hot cakes for breakfast & Ivard & Kids came in from doing beets & ate. They went back out, all but Kay & he had a nap.

I changed beds & washed 3 batches & the washer started acting up. I got dinner & after Ivard & I & Dale & Jackie came back from Nampa & getting Ivards check, paying bills & getting a pick-up tire we ate at 2:30 & Ivard & Kay went to Adrian to ball practice

I mixed bread & baked 6 loaves & 2 pans cinnamon rolls.

Gene did chores & we all went to bed early.

I went back to work at Simplots tonite.

Ivard went to work at 11:30.
