Kay left for Lima Peru for 2 1/2 yrs

We got up & ate & cleaned up & at 8:30 we all left for Grantsville to take Mother home. Claudia missed school & went with us.

When we woke up there was 3 in. of new snow. the roads were melted off only between airport & Black Rock & they were real icy., were dry when we came back.

Mother was sure glad to get home. Mrs Palmer came up & got all Kays new garments & took them down & washed them in her automatic & Berniece dried them in her dryer & Mother & Berniece marked his socks. We had a real good dinner. Mother gave me her new bed spread she had started & showed me how to do it, she had 6 done. We left at 5: & stoped in Salt Lake & got a thing or two. Went up to Ruths & juggled Kays things around trying to get it down to 44 lbs. He took Claudia down to get ready & at 8:10 we left for Salt Lake Airport & checked his baggage. He was 1 lb. over but it was OK. At 9:35 P.M he boarded a Pan American D.C 6, flight 602 & left for Peru with 5 other missionaries It was clear & cold wind & we saw the big plane wing it way over the high, white snow covered mountains in moonlight. Me & Jackie cried after he left. stayed to Ruths.

Monday, February 27, 1961

Gene & Ray went to Mutual & left Dean & Dale home alone.

We got up & ate & Ruth went to work & we cleaned up & took Jackie down & Left her with Loraine all day & got Louie & Ivard & I, Mother Louie, Jerry & Kay went in to Temple at 10: & Stella met us then we went thru 11:30 Session. After that Stella had to go do Sealings & Jerry didn't feel good so he with Kay & got his garments & stuff & met Claudia at L.D.S. Business college & Louie Mother, Ivard & I went to 2:30 Session It was packed all day & they had to split ever Session 2460 endowments today the biggest day they've ever had at Temple. We met Kids at 6:20 & took Louie home & went & got Jackie & took her up to Ruths & changed he cloths then we took Mother & went down to Petersons to Supper & visited until 11:45 then went back up to Ruths & went to bed. It was a tireing day for Mother & she has such a cold anyway.

Sunday, February 26, 1961

Kids at home all went to priesthood sunday school & sacrament meeting

Ray was made President of Priests

It was a real nice day & a lot of snow melted.

Ivard & Jerry went to Priesthood with Ray & Kim then came home & we visited.

At 1: Ivard & I Jerry & Jackie went down & got Claudia & went in to Mission Home & got Kay he was all thru at 2: We all went out to Ruths & had a big dinner, did up dishes & visited & read paper.

Got ready & left Jackie with Ruth & Ivard & I, Mother & Jerry took Claudia & Kay & went in to "Assembly Hall" to Kays Testimonial at 5:00. It was real good. Kay didn't get to bare his, too far back. It was packed. We got out at 8: & went out to Irvins, they had a farwell party for Kay, about 30 people came. He got $69. It was 10:30 when we left then Kay took Claudia home. He stayed to Ruths with us.

Ruth Cleverly was made Relief Society President today of So. Bountiful.

Saturday, February 25, 1961

left for Utah

Mother helped me write my history on way to Utah

Sunny & cold wind.

I got up at 5:30 A.M & packed all our suit cases & Kays things. Ray made us a lunch & Gene took him over to Bishops at 8:30 to go to "Idaho City" sleighing all day.

We ate & I had a bath & at 10: Ivard & I Mother, Jerry & Jackie left for Utah. We went over to President Hurren's & had our Temple recommends seighned & went to Nampa & got my dress out of cleaners & at 11:05 we left for Salt Lake. I just drove from Mountaine Home to Bliss. The roads were good all the way. When we got to outskirts of Bountiful We hit snow 3 in they got today. We got to Ruth & Rays at 6:05 & had supper. Ivard & I & Jerry went to Salt Lake to Mission Home & saw last part of Kids programe & visited Kay until 10:45 then he had to be in so we went back out to Ruths & went to bed.

Mother will stay over a couple of days with us.

Friday, February 24, 1961

First day of Ivards vacation

Cloudy & windy.

Came home from work & stopep at Kotters & Helen cut my hair. Came home & ate, & read paper & laid down until 12:15 then Mother & I went to town & I went to Superior Western & had a color tint & my hair set. Went to Bank, got groc. & feed & came home at 4:15 & Mother made a rasher pudding for supper, took 3 hrs to steam.

I got books up & iorned Kays shirts. Jerry washed all day at 7: Ivard & I went in to Hales & got a Temple recomend, have to get it signed in morning. got gas & came home & ate at 8: & I iorned some more.

We are off work tonite & tomorrow nite.

Rail Road called & Ivard laid off so we could go to Utah in morning. I went to bed at 11:15. Ivard & Ma were watching T.V.

Thursday, February 23, 1961

got letter from Kay

sent Jim Kotter card & Afton C.

stoped after work & drew 120. out of Credit U. S.

I came home from work & ate & read paper.

Ivard was home in bed.

Gene stayed home from school today & he took little Kids to school.

Ivard, Gene & Jerry loaded bore & sow pig & Ivard & Jackie took them to Caldwell to sale.

Jerry - Gene & I went to Nampa at 11:30 to get Gene's drivers licence but had to waite until 1: so we went & got groc. Gene got his licence & we came home & got Mother - Ivard & Jackie & we went to Nyssa & saw Gail awhile. We got home at 7:30 & Ray had supper & Kids were home from Primary. We ate & I went to bed at 8: I was half dead, went to work at 11:

Ivard went to work at Boise at 10:30.

Ray went to a scout meeting.

went out first genelogy teaching

Sunny - windy day.

I went in to office & was late getting home, stoped & got rolls for Pendelton funeral.

Ivard was home from work and had taken Kids to school.

I ate, read paper and went to bed at 9:30. I got up at 12:30 & got ready & Ethel Hays came & got me & we went out genelogy teaching, went to 4 houses.

Came home & Jerry & Mother had supper ready & we ate when Kids came from school.

Mother feels a lot better

I got books up & went to bed at 7: & read N. T. awhile.

I went to work at 11:

Ivard left to work at Boise at 10:30.

Tuesday, February 21, 1961

cloudy & windy.

I came home from work & Ivard was home & in bed.

I ate - made pop corn & read paper. I went to bed at 10: & got up at 1: & had dinner & iorned all afternoon.

Jerry washed cloths & got supper he took Kids to school & went & got htem.

Ivard went in to sign for unemployment this afternoon & Jerry went to Dr.

We ate at 6: & I got books up & had a bath & went to bed at 7: until time to go to work at 11:

Ivard went to work in Boise at 10:30.

Mother & all the Kids were in bed when I got up.

Kay entered Mission Home.

sunny nice spring day.

I came home from work &  Ivard was home from Boise & had taken Kids to school. Mother got up & ate with me & Ivard & we went to bed until 2:, Mother too.

We had lunch & Ivard & I & Jackie went to bank then to Caldwell & put Kids money in Savings. Had Milk Shake & came home at 4:15.

Jerry washed & had supper ready when Gene & Ray came & we ate.

Ivard & I - Mother & Jackie went to bed.

Ivard went to Boise to work at 10:30.

snowed on & off all day.

I got up & made biscuits & mush & we all ate then Ivard - Jerry Gene & Ray went to Priesthood. I iorned then I took Dean Dale, Jackie & Debbie & we went to sunday school. Mother had a bad cold & stayed home with Gail. Mother made a rasher pudding. Ivard & Gene came home after class. I got groc. & we came home & I made salad & fixed carrots & peas & punch & we ate. Gail & Kids took Jerry in to Stake House to sunday school leadership then went & got hime about 4:30. We ate at 3:

Saturday, February 18, 1961

Gail came & stayed all nite.

Sunny & windy

I came home from work & cooked hot cakes for them. Ivard was home in bed but only slept about an hr. & got up & ate.

I played Scrabble with Mother & Ivard until noon. then some guy (Rex Bixby) came & sold Ivard some Ins.

At 1:30 Ivard went in to Stake House & practiced ball & a little later Jerry - Gene & Ray went to Nampa & got some stuff for mother & had an oil change & greese job on car. I made pop corn then Jackie & I went to bed. got up at 6: & ate & got books up.

Watched T.V. & visited

I don't have to work tonite.

Gail, Lynda & Kids came at 9: & stayed all nite. Jerry & Gene went to 2nd Ward Gold & Green Ball. went to bed at 1:30.

Friday, February 17, 1961

I came home from work & Jerry took Kids to school & they got out at 1:30 & he went & got them.

I ate & read paper & went right to bed. Was supposed to go on Genelogy but Mrs. Hayes didn't want to, too stormy.

Snowed awhile & rained a little

Mother crocheted & Her & Ivard watched T.V. all day.

I got up at 3: & played Scrabble.

Mother made a liver loaf & I made carmel pies & Jerry got supper

Jerry washed cloths.

I have such an awful cold.

I went back to bed after "77 Sunset Strip" until time to go to work.

Ivard went to work for 11: I left at 10:45.

every one was in bed when I left.

Thursday, February 16, 1961

sunny & cool.

I came home from work & Mother & Jerry took Kids to school then we ate & I read paper & we played Scrabble & ate pop corn & I went to bed at 12:30. I got up at 3:30 & Ivard - Mother & I took Jackie to Primary & got Ivards check & paid bills & got groc. & I got my material out of laway.

Got Kids from Primary - Ray was there too, showing them how to tie knots.

Came home & Jerry had supper ready & we ate & I got books up & Gene did chores then mother fixed us a piece of angel food cake with whipped cream & crushed peanut brittle. I went to bed at 7:30 until time to go to work

Ivard didn't work. Ray came home sick. I have an awful cold.

Wednesday, February 15, 1961

cloudy & rained a little Marchy wind.

I came home from work & made some pop corn & cooked hot cakes for Ivard, Mother & Jackie while Jerry took Kids to school.

I read paper & went to bed at 10: got up at 4:.

Mother crocheted & her & Ivard & Jerry watched T.V. all day.

Jerry got supper & we ate at 6:

I went to bed & read New Testament until 8: & slept until time to go to work.

Gene did chores & went ward teaching.

Mother - Ivard & Kids played "Exaltation" until 9: & Kids went to bed & Mother & Ivard watched T.V. until it went off air.

Ivard didn't work again today.

Tuesday, February 14, 1961

I got up & fixed breakfast & Mother & Jerry took Kids to school. I read paper & mother, Jackie & I went to relief society work day, had real good dinner. We came home at 2:30.

Jerry washed cloths & made valentine cookies & got supper. We ate when Kids came from school & Gene did chores.

When we came from relief society Mother, Jackie & I had a nap & Ivard went to town & got some feed.

At 6:30 we all went to Stake House for last game of basketball tournment. Ivard & Kids team both got beat out by Caldwell.

We came home at 10:30 & I got ready & went to work.

Ivard didn't work again today.

Monday, February 13, 1961

Stormy & snow flurries. We ate & Ruth - Ray & Kids left for home at 8:45. Kay went with them to stay until he enters the mission home. They went in & took Claudia too. Gene & Ray went to school in Pick-up because they missed bus.

Mother stayed until we go to Utah to see Kay off.

We cleaned up & washed & I drew threads & hemmed 14 dish towels. We had lunch & Ivard & Jackie went to bed. Mother crocheted.

We ate supper at 5: & Ivard & Dean went to a scout party at 6: & stayed to Rays "court of Honor." I got books up & Ray did dishes.

Jerry - Gene & Ray went to Mutual

Mother & I watched T.V. & Jackie dance around. I laid off again. My cold is still bad. Ivard didn't work today.

Sunday, February 12, 1961

Jerrys new 1st Co. in Mutual & sunday school teacher.

I couldn't talk when I woke up.

We got up & ate & cleaned up house & Ivard - Jerry - Gene - Ray Ray T & Kim went to priesthood & sunday school. Mother & I made 2 jello salads & put Turkey on to cook & got dressing ready then Mother Ruth & I had a bath & we took all the Kids & went to sunday school Jackie had to give Sacrament gem, had to carry her. Had to help her.

When we came out to go home it was snowing. Jackie cried with her foot so we soaked it.

When we got home Gail was here & had potatoes peeled. Kay & Claudia came then Petersons & we ate Turkey dinner buffet style, at 4: Kids did dishes & we visited. 21 of us for dinner.

We all went to church to Kays Farewell mother gave a real good talk & Jim Peterson there were about 12 from Owyhee Ward & Nancy & Duaine & Lawrence & Afton & Ray Schulthies. I could hardly talk but said a few words. Came home & had cake & icecream & Ivard left for work at 11: & Gail went home & Kay took Claudia in to Nampa to stay with her folks. I laid off.

Mother - Ruth, Ray & Kids came

We got up & ate & Ivard came home & went to bed for awhile. Jerry & Ray cleaned up & we washed. I made my big Kettle right full of chilli & 4 apple pies & 3 carmel pies. I iorned until about 3: but didn't get it done.

Ruth, Ray, Kim, Janice & Sharon & Mother got here from Utah about 2:

At 5: Kay & Kids went to town & picked up Claudia, Her folks went on to Nyssa. We visited & played a game of Scrabble - We ate & Kay & Claudia went on a date then Kay stayed over to Gails all nite. he ran out of gas on way to town & Gene & Kids went in & got him some. Cooked Turkey.

We watched T.V. & all went to bed at 11:15. Ray had Jackie rideing on bike & got her foot cought in spokes & took all the skin off & its all swelled up. my nite off.

Friday, February 10, 1961

got letter from Bill - He sent Kay $25.

I came home from work & Jerry took Kids to school. Ray stayed home to clean for company. I made some pop corn & we played a game of scrabble then Kay & I went to town & got 31. worth of groc. & Kay got some film & flash bulbs & film develop We came home & Jackie & I went to bed then got up & iorned for quite awhile. Ray cleaned the house good.

We watched T.V. after we ate & I quit iorning for "Sun Set Strip"

Ivard left for work at 10:30 & Jackie & I went to bed at 1: A.M only she was already asleep the Kids were all in bed.

I didn't have to work tonite

Ivard picked over a big Kettle of beans & I put them to soak Ivard went to bed until time to go to work.

Thursday, February 9, 1961

Kay took Kids to school

rained all morning - hard cold wind.

I came home from work & poped some corn & read paper & Ivard, Jerry Kay & I played one game of scrabble.

Jerry & Kay helped Ivard load Gene's sow & 3 little pigs & Ivard & Jackie took them to Caldwell sale.

I went to bed at 11:30 but didn't sleep very good. My legs ached.

Jerry washed cloths & got supper.

I woke up at 3: & couldn't sleep so read N. T. got up & ate at 5:30. Ivard & all the Kids went to Tournment. They called & told Ivard he couldn't coach & play so he's going to play. His team played Nampa 2nd & won 74 to 36.

Kids played Nampa 4th & won 44-43 Ivard made 11 points, Kay 4, Gene 19, Ray none They got home at 10:30 & I went to work. Ivard didn't work.

Wednesday, February 8, 1961

Dean was home sick
Ray stayed home to clean house for Co.

It started to rain right after midnite & rained all nite & about all day today.

I came home from work & Poped corn & read paper & went to bed at 9:30. I got up at 2:30 & Ivard, Jackie & I went to Ontario & took icebox back they lent us & got ours & new mattresses they gave us so theyd match. They put a new unit in ours. We stoped at Gails & left Jackie on our way over. got groc. & went after Jackie & stayed a half jr. got home at 7: rained on us most of way over & back

Kay & Jerry went to Dr. in Nampa, he wants Jerry to be operated on for appendix they went to Boise & put Kays farewell notice in paper. they were home when we got home.

I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ivard didn't work today.

Tuesday, February 7, 1961

Got letter from Mother / sent letter to Mother Ruth & Lyle
Gene stayed home

warm & sunny.

I came home from work & took Kids to school. I ate, read paper & washed some cloths.

Ivard went to work at 8: & had to ride the bike.

Jerry & I played Scrabble & I went to bed at noon & took Sis.

Kay got home from Gails & woke me up at 3: for some money & him & Gene went in & got Ivard & some pictures we'd left to develope.

Jerry had supper & we ate when Ray got home. Gene stayed home to tend fresh cow & do his school work.

Jerry went & got Kids. I didn't go to relief Society

We all went to Nampa at 7: & they droped me off at church for genelogy meeting & the rest of them went to Stake House to tournment. Caldwell beat Ivards team. I rode over after meeting. We came home & I got ready & went to work.

Monday, February 6, 1961

sent Leslie a birthday card
Dale home sick.

Cloudy but warm. rained tonite. I came home from work & Ivard had pump motor out & ready to go to town him & Kay & Jackie went. Had to buy new motor, it was shot. Kay went & saw Bishop & got his farewell programe ready.

Jerry took Dean to school & Dale stayed home with croup.

I ate, read paper & went to bed at 9:30 I woke up at 1:30 when Kay went over to Gails to stay all nite. Jackie & Ivard came to bed & I read N.T until 3:30 then Ivard, Jackie & I went to town after I made biscuits for Jerrys Stew. got feed & groc. & came home & ate at 5:45

Gene & Ray went to Mutual & I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ivard watched T.V. he didn't work today.

Sunday, February 5, 1961

Sunny nice day. Pump broke & Ivard had to haul water in cans. Gene did chores & took Ray over to Bishops to go to early meeting.

At 10:15 Ivard - Jerry - Kay & Gene went to Priesthood.

I iorned all morning.

At 11:30 Dean, Jackie & I went to sunday school & fast meeting after.

Dale had croup & stayed home alone. Ivard came home after priesthood he was 1st out. Dean gave 2 1/2 min. talk

We got home at 3:30 & Jerry got supper & Ivard, Kay, Dean & I played Scrabble.

We ate at 5:30 & I made a batch of fudge & got my books up.

I went to bed at 7: until time to go to work. Ivard & Kids played Exaltation

Nice day.

I came home from work & ate & read paper & went to bed. They woke me up at 3:30 & Kay - Dean & I went to town & got Dean some patches for his scout suit, got groc. & Kids valentines.

Ivard, Kay - Gene & Ray went in to church & practiced ball all morning.

Ray didn't work

Jerry fixed supper & we ate We all went to the Stake house at 7: to 2nd round of church tourn. Kids won, beat Middleton. We got home at 10:10 & watched T.V.

My nite off. Ivard didn't work today.

Friday, February 3, 1961

Nice sunny day.

Kids went to school & we visited & showed Jerry our home movies. Washed up Kays cloths.

This afternoon Ivard & I took Kay to town & got his cloths for mission 3 pr. shoes, overcoat, suit, shirts. Ivard took me over to Kotters to visit while him & Kay went to church & practiced ball awhile.

We came home & got ready & all went in to church to Elders banquet & ate at 6: Gail & Lynda & Kids came just before we left & they went with us. After we ate we all went to Stake house to Church tournment. Kids got beat and Ivard's team won.

We got home at 10:30 & I got ready & went to work.

Ivard missed out on a breaking call.

Rained all day long & half the nite

I got up & made hot cakes & waffles & Kids went to school & Ivard went to work for 8:, Jerry took little Kids.

I wrote Bill about genelogy

I did some patching & made 3 carmel pies & 2 apple & got Jackie to sleep.

Ivard got home at 1:30 & we played Scrabble. Dean & Dale got out at 1:30 today for teachers meeting & Jerry went & got them.

Jerry & I took them to Primary at 3:30 & got groc. while we waited. got home at 5:30 Ray had supper & we ate

I didn't feel like going to work again. I went to bed early & Ivard  - Jerry - Gene & Ray & Dean went & watched start of church tournment. Ivard got up at 11:45 & went & got Kay  he came home with Ashcroft.

real foggy comeing home & stayed that way all day.

Ivard was already home & in bed. Jerry took Kids to school. I ate, read paper & went to bed at 10:

I woke up at 1:30 & Ivard took Jerry in to Dr., he sent him to hospital for blood test, said he had cronic appendix. While Jerry was to Dr. Ivard & Jackie paid bills & got groc. I couldn't go back to sleep so I read N.T. & when Ivard & Kids got home I worked on books while Jerry fixed supper & we ate. I went back to bed at 6: I felt so awful I had them call & lay me off

I got up at 8: & played 2 games of Scrabble with Ivard & we watched T.V. until it went off the air.

Ivard didn't work today.
