Saturday, August 31, 1963

cloudy all day_ rained all nite long.

We have tonite off so I came home & read paper & ate & went to bed couple of hrs. then I got up and washed cloths & iorned until 1:45 then I took Gene out to Sage brush so I could have the pick_up, car had 2 flat tires.  Lyle, Barbra & Kids came awhile & Lyle took flat off the front & put on spare & when Gene came he took it up to fix but they didn't have time for couple of hrs so Gene took other one off & I took it up too & used pick-up.  Jackie & I went to McDonalds Beauty nook at 3:30 & had our hair cut.  I stoped at store & went to D.q. & had drink. Came home & iorned again.

Jerry worked 10: to 6:

Ivard called at 5:30 & I went & got him had a ham roast cooked 7 hurried & fixed supper & we ate then we went up & got tires & droped Jerry off up town, he was going to bum around & go to show Dean exchanged his new pen & we paid Hales then we went up to Gails for awhile, came home & I went to bed at 8:30 I was so tired. Gene came home late & cleaned up & went to dance

I came home from work & went to bed at 9:30.

Ivard left for New Meadows again this morning at 7: & brought his check home Jerry took him up to Rail Road & brought his check home

Jerry worked 10: to 6: Gene worked all day.

I got up at 2: & Dean & Dale had house all cleaned good.  I took Dean, Dale & Jackie & we went over to cannery & got my 63 cans lima beans & ham I did the other day then we went & pd place & to bank and got Dean & Dale pants, shoes & socks for school.  Then went & got all their school supplies paper pencils ect. stoped at D.q & had our supper.  Came home at 5: & got my books up & went to bed at 6: until time to go to work.

Jerry & Gene went uptown & Gene bought him a white sports jacket.

Kids said Gail & Lynda came awhile.

Edith brought Jerry home from work & took Jackie home with her for Couple of hrs. I went to work at 11:

I came home from work & read paper & ate & watched show awhile & washed a batch of cloths & went to bed at 10: woke up at 11: & again at 11: & finally got up at 4:

Gene came home for lunch & for awhile at 4:

Lynda was down to see Dean about tending Kids.

Dale was messing around all day selling cards.

I got up & put socks away & worked on my books.

Jerry worked 10: to 6:

Dean & I fixed supper & we ate when Gene & Jerry got home.

I went to bed until time to go to work.

Ivard never got home from New medows until 10:

hotter 92° at Boise

I came home from work & tended Sis & spent morning called here & there about stuff for Income Tax invistagation.  washed some cloths

When I got home Dale had gone on his 5 mile hike for Primary.  got home about noon, missed his music lesson, Dean went for his at 10: then at 4: to Dr Daines for eye test.

Ivard had gone to McCall & took our car for 2 days.

Gene came home for lunch.

I went to bed for a little while

Jerry didn't work today, he got home from his fishing trip about 7: & bathed & got ready & about 8: Rodney came back & got him & they went to Boise to State Fair.

Gene cleaned up & went up to Gails awhile.

Dean fixed their supper.

Lyle came for awhile on way from Boise.

I went back to bed until time to go to work.

I came home from work and went over to Caldwell to I.D & got out my $34. laway of shirts & bought me a new pair of Jeans.  Came home & took Dale & Jackie with me out to Brysons & got Helen & took her down to Vinery & she gave me a bushel of lima beans.  I took her home & brought Jackie home & Dale & I went over to Cannery all afternoon doing beans, they were dirty & took a long time, the lady helped us & we got though a lot quicker.  got 63 cans lima beans & ham. Came home at 4:, stoped at D.q & had drink, & Ivard had called so we went up to Rail Road & got him.

I was dead.  I went to bed at 5:30 until time to go to work & Ivard & Dean fixed supper.

Jerry worked 10: to 6: then he came home & got ready & went up the mountains all nite on fishing trip with Rodney.

Gene worked all day & watched T.V.

I went to work at 11:

I came home from work & took Ivard up to R.R. to go to McCall for 2 days brakeing.  Came home & ate & me & Kids went out to Brysons & picked corn & shucked a big tub full & I brought Dale & Jackie home & Dean & I went up to D.q. & had a drink & Mrs Murry said Jerry called her from McCall last nite & tread for his day shift for tonite.  He got her at 5:45 & changed & Rodney took him to work.

Dean & I went over to Cannery in 1 hr & 15 min.  We had 78 cans corn ready to process.  Came home & washed a batch of cloths & Dean hung them out & I went to bed at 2:, I woke up at 5:30 & got books up & had Dean fix their supper.  I went up to D.q & got some milk for breakfast & went back to bed at 7:

Jerry got some one to work & came home at 7:30 to went go to wedding but went with Rodney instead

Jerry went to mcCall & didn't come home tonite.

I came home from work & Ivard had gone to Nyssa at 7: to work.  I read paper and went to bed at 10:

Gene had taken Ivard & been out to check water.

Jerry_ Gene & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday School & came home & took Dale & Jackie to S.S. After Church Jerry took them up to D.q. & bought them their dinner.

I woke up at 3: just as Jerry was leaving with Rodney Hennis, he got some one to work for him tonite.

I got up & patched my cloths & iorned a dress to go to work tonite.  I washed a couple batches of cloths.

Gene slept all afternoon.

Gail, Lynda & Kids Came for about a hr. right after Gene & Kids came home from their place (weren't home)

Gene, Dean & Dale went to church & right after they left Ivard called & Jackie & I went up in pick-up & got him, he bought us a drink at D.q.

I had shower & went to bed until time to go to work but never did get to sleep.

Saturday, August 24, 1963

Lyle, Barbra & Kids Came to supper

nice day & warm _ breeze

I came home from work & went to bed, Ivard had just got home & to sleep.  I was so cold I couldn't go to sleep.  spent all morning trying.  I slept a couple of hrs. & got up & washed some cloths & Dean hung them out and Ivard & I went up town & bought him 2 shirts, 2 pr. overalls & pr workpants and $60 worth of groc. with some of his grain money. stoped at D.q. & got milk, was going to bring Jerry home but he went across street & got hair cut.  Came home & fixed Barbacue & were just going to eat when Lyle came so we all ate then Jerry & Gene came & ate.  We ate on lawn.

Jerry got ready & went with Rodney Hennis.  Kids did dishes & we played penochle.  I went to bed at 9: but Kids were so noisy I couldn't go to sleep.  I was so tired.  They left just before I went to work at 11:

Ivard didn't work today.

Jerry went partying after we came home from church

Ivard got home about 3: A.M.

I came home from work and went to bed at 9:30 and never woke up till 3:30, I was so tired.

Ivard tended Kids, went up to R.R. picked a few berries.

I got up & got ready and we went up to D.q & got a Steak sandwich fries, milk shake & donuts & took out to Gene in field, Hes really getting in the hours in lima beans, we had drink.  We went out to Bordeans & missed him & came back & met him at bank & they cashed their grain check, after they pd. bills we ended up with less than 200 I tried to find me some pants, mine tore seal out last night, but no one had my size. got Sis 15 pr. socks for school.  Ivard had to be to Church at 5: to set up tables for 70's Chuck Wagon breakfast at 6:30 so I droped him off & went & got Kids & Jerry & we went.  Ivard got called to work for 7: so I dashed him up & came back & fried eggs until 8:30 for him & ate & we came home & I went to bed until time to go to work - Dale forgot to get me up.

Ray got a job in Provo-Ut, Dairy q. called to say he wouldn't be home

I came home from work & went right to bed & slept until 1:

Ivard got up & him & Kids took Jerry to work & went up to Rail road & got Rays pass & we mailed it when I took Ivard to work for 3:, he went to Nyssa.

Jerry went to Murrys before he went to work & got beets & I was all afternoon doing them, 12 qts.

Gene got home at 10: (20 hrs) & went to bed & had to go again at 3: I fixed his lunch & dinner before I took Ivard.

I fixed supper & went & got Jerry at 6: & we ate & him & Dean went to Church to a suprise birthday party on Edith.

Gail came a few min.

Dale did dishes & tended Sis & I went to bed at 7:

Ray called from Provo, He got a job at Dairy queen there, starting in morning & won't be home.

I came home & Ivard had gone to work & taken Car.

I took Jackie to bed with me at 9:30 because Dean & Dale went to Piano lesson & Jerry went to work 10: to 6:.  Too cold to sleep had to get hot water bottle.  it was noon before I got to sleep, Lyle came & I got up awhile first

I woke up at 5:45.  Ivard got home at 6:15 & brought Jerry.

I cooked supper & we ate.  Gene worked all day & had to go back at 10: P.M & worked all nite, in beans.

Kids did dishes & they watched T.V.  I went to bed at 8: but never did get to sleep, too much comotion.  I got up at 10:15 & got ready for work.  Wilma Came at 10:55.

I came home from work & went right to bed but was too cold to go to sleep.  got a hot water bottle but it was after 10: I got up at 1: & Jerry & Dean had gone & picked Mrs Murrays beans & Ivard & Kids had them stemed & bottles washed.  I did 7 qts & had a good bowl full for supper (out of half [?])

Ivard picked berries & we sold 2 cases to Edith & Petersons came & got their other one & Jerry gave Mrs Murry ½ Case.

Jerry worked 10: to 6: & I went & got him.

Gene brought Dickie Small home to eat then they went to show & Jerry went to M_Men Gleaners & on a date after.

Ivard didn't work today.

I went back to work bedat 7:30 until time to go to work.  I started rideing with Wilma Gregory tonite & left at 10:55.

I came home from work & washed 3 batches of cloths & Jerry went to bank for me & picked Gene up along way, walking, he'd run out of gas.

They came home & Jerry got ready & I took him to work 10: to 6: & Gene got gas & I took him out to pick up by bowling alley.  I came home & went to bed at 10:30 to 4:45.

Dean tended Jackie & they picked a case of berries.  Dale went selling cards Gene came home for lunch.

Dean went out & picked 2 more cups berries & made an upside down cake for supper.  He had cloths in.

I got books up & crocheted.

Jerry bought Jackie a new dress for school.

Ivard called at 5:30 & I went & got him & we got gas & groc & waited for Jerry to get off at 6:, he bought us a drink.  I helped Dean finish supper & we ate at 6:45.

Ivard picked berries until dark.

I went to bed at 7:30 until time to go to work.

Jerry took Dean to Scouts.

Ray left for Utah

I went back to work at Simplots

not quite as hot.

Gail brought Kids home.  Gene went & checked water then him Jerry & Dean went to Priesthood & sunday school.  Jerry came home & took Dale & Jackie.

Ray went to work 10: to 5: & Jerry 5: to close.

I did my hair, color rinse, & had dinner ready when Kids came & we ate after Jerry went up & got icecream & Topping for desert.

Kids did dishes, Gene had nap & I worked on puzzle.

Gene went & checked water again then Gene Ray, Dean & Dale went to church.  I had a bath & Jackie & I went to bed at 8:, I never did get to sleep.

I got up at 10:45 & got ready & Ray & I went up & he got me a drink then I took him to bus depot & he went To Utah for week, to see about school. 

I picked up Venice & we went to work.

I took Ivard up to R.R at 6: to catch a ride to Emmett (dead head) has to work at new meadows, get home monday nite.

Gene went to work, ate lunch at Wallys, called & ask me if I wanted corn & I said yes so Wally brought me 2 sacks & Dean & Dale shucked it for me.  I changed my bed & washed it & all the other cloths.  Dean & I went up town & Dean went in drug store for me & got shampoo & Clairol then to store & got groc.  came home & he went up to Holy on bike & cashed his check & had hair cut.

Dean helped me & we did 10 qts corn cut off & 91 cobs in freezer

Ray worked 9:30 to 6: & Jerry worked 10: to 6: I washed my hair & Ray _ and Genes

Gene run oil can in his hand & and Deans.

We ate when Kids came & Gene & I watched T.V. while Jerry & Ray went ward Teaching then Jerry went with Rodney Hennis & Gene & Ray went to dance.  Dean went to tend Kids for Gail & Jackie went too & they stayed all nite.

Ivards day off.  He picked a case of berries for Mrs Perry & one for guy at work then we went & got his check and paid bills.  The guy at work wanted 2 more cases of berries so Ivard went out & picked them while I fixed supper.

I woke up this morning & one side of my head was numb & I couldn't hear out of that ear so I called Dr. Daines & he had me come right up.  said I had cold in my head He gave me $10. worth of medecine & it makes me dizzy.

Tonite Ivard & I & Jackie took berries up to guy at 1st ward social & went to Gails but they weren't home.  Had cool & Came home.

Jerry went to Boise to help Lyle all day _ got home at 4:30 & I took him up to work at D.q. 5: to close.  Ray worked 10: to 6:

I feel awful didn't go to work again.  Ivard got put on brakemans extra board

I got up when Gene went to work & did another Keltte of beans, 7 qts & was all day makeing 2 cases black berries into cordial, 9 qts.  I stopped & cleaned up & went up & signed for unemployment.  Ivard got up & picked a crate of berries for Mrs Perry & one for Petersons (at work), R.R.) then & at 10: Ivard went over to place to help combine our grain I called him home to go to work at 4:, he floated his day off.  I stoped at D.q for about hr.

We ate supper.

Ray worked 10 to 6: & Jerry 4: to close

Gail & Lynda came for awhile tonite.  I'm still too sick to go to work.

Ray went messing off some where.

I took Dean out to Wally's & got his check at 4:, after we took Jerry.

Tuesday, August 13, 1963

hot, 104° in Boise

I got up & fixed Genes lunch & he went to work & I got ready & at 9: Ivard took Jackie & I up to church & we rode up to Pine Top with Norma Jorgensen to spend day with relief society.  Had dinner, lots of fried chicken, & a programe.  I made me a cover for a years relief society magazines & Jackie a braclet, Jackie went swimming.  I sure wanted to but I was sick  It was even hot up there.

I rode home with Mrs Barney, got here about 4:30.  Jerry had gone to Murrys & picked beans & I started in on them.  It was dark time I got them picked over.  Dean washed bottles & got supper on.  I took Jerry up to work at 5: to close.

Ray worked 10: to 6: then took Dean up to Park to priest party & messed around.  Gene came about dark & we ate.

Ivard was to work 4: till midnite.  I did 20 qts & it was 1:30 when Ivard & I went to bed.  I was supposed to start back to SImplots but I laid off sick.

I changed all the Kids beds & washed them up.

Ivard got home early & went to bed then got up & picked berries until he had to go to work at 3:30, rode with dusty.

Gene came home for his lunch. I bottled up rest of tomatoes Lyle brought the other day & a bag he brought today.  did 13 qts spagetti sauce & put 10 tubs blackberries in freezer.  We sold 3 cases.

Rays day off he went to Boise with Lyle after he came home from his Tupper Ware meeting at Howards at noon then he came home & went to sign up for draft but was too late he went out to Simplots & got my check so I could pay him my Tupper Ware.

I was sure tired, went to bed early Kids went messing off.

Ivard came home & went to bed, got up & started to get ready for Priesthood & Kids left, he watched ballgame.

Ray came & took Dale & Jackie to S.S.

Jerry went to work 10: to 5:30

I stayed in bed & read paper & worked on cross word puzzle.  got up at 11:30 & streightened up & crocheted.

Kids got home at 1:45 & I fixed dinner & we ate, Ray went up & got some icecream & topping & we had sundees. for desert.

Ivard went to bed & Dean did up dishes.

Ray went to work 5: till close.

Ivard got up at 5:30, when Jerry came, to watch Disneyland.

Ivard wouldn't go to church, I got mad.  I got ready & went with Jerry_ Dean & Dale we went early & Jerry bought us a drink Jerry went to Melba to Fireside after with Alice & Mary Kay.  I came home & brought Kids then I sat out watching the lightening then I rode up & had a drink & watched some more.  Gene came home from Nyssa about 10:30 with bunch of Kids.  Ivard went to work at 11:

Ivard came home & went to bed.  I got up & went out & pulled all the big beets & did them 3 qts.  I washed cloths & iorned all afternoon, still didn't get done.

Genes day off he went to Boise with Lyle at noon when he came & took brought Dean home.  Dean cleaned up.

Ray worked at D.q. 9:30 to 6:, Jerry took him up.  Jerry worked 11: to 6: & I took him up & he gave me a drink.

Ivard got up & watched ball game then we rode up to Gails & took their Tupper ware from my party, no one was home.  got a few groc and came home & cooked supper, stuffed peppers.  Lyle came about 5: & got Stanley & Gene went home with him until tomorrow nite.

We ate on lawn after I went & got Jerry & Ray.

I had shower & went with Jerry & Ray to Stanley Party at Ediths.  Ray left & went to Carnival in Caldwell with Roger Jerry & I went to D.q. awhile

Ivard got assigned 11: P.M job & left at 10:50

hot_bad lightening storm all around us tonite.  few drops rain here, floods in Boise.

Ivard run tomatoes threw for me I cooked this morning and I bottled 7 qts spagetti sauce this evening.

I iorned all day & washed cloths.

Ray worked all day & Jerry went 4: until close.

Ivard took pick-up & had new fuel pump & oil change for Gene.  Jerry took Kids up to Park swimming

We ate at 6:

Lyle was going to bring Dean home this morning but never did come.

Ray had his Tupper Party cancel so we rode up to Gails but no one was home, stoped at Dq & Ray bought us all a cone.

I watched it lightening until it got too close so I came in & went to bed about 10:

Ivard went to work at midnite.

I washed cloths and Jerry took Dale, Jackie & Debbie to closeing social for summer Primary 10: till 11:30

Ivard picked berries all day

I spent most of day makeing a double batch (15 qts) chilli sauce

Lyle came about noon & was going to leave Barbra & Kids here while he took a load of tomatoes to Boise but ended up takeing them with him & Ivard too.

They came back about 4:30 & left Stanley here for few days & took Dean home to tend Kids tonite

Ray worked 10: to 6: Jerry 5: till close Lyle took 36 cup berries home & spilled 5 others, Jerry took 4 cups over to Wilsons for pies & 2 to Edith & Ray took 2 cups up to his Tupper Ware hosters for his first party He had party tonite, then went to her place after to party.

Ivard went to work for 11: after we got home from show at church.  Me_Ivard Dale, Jackie & Stanley.  Ray had Tupper Party.

Gene went to work, came home for lunch.

I crocheted, washed cloths.  Lyle & Joe stoped & left me 4 lugs of tomatoes on their way to Boise.

Ivard, Jerry & Kids went up to Park swimming.

I went up to sign for unemployment at 2:30 & took Dean to Pennys then we got groc. & came home & had supper.

Ray worked 10: to 6: Jerry worked 5: to close.

After Kids did dishes, we all drove down to Kotters & sat in car & waited for Dean to Pass a merit badge then we went up to Gails, Lynda was to work.  We brought Debbie home to stay all nite.

Ivard didn't work today.

Came home about 10: & went to bed.

I came home from work & went to bed.  I woke up at noon & Dusty Rhodes was here visiting Ivard.

It was so hot I couldn't go back to sleep.

I washed some cloths.

Gene worked most of day came home for lunch

Jerry worked for Ray today so he could deliver Tupper ware & Ray worked 6: until close

Ivard went to work at 4: I was just going back to bed when Simplots called & said we were all done for a week.

Jerry had a date with Rama Wilson.

I watched T.V. and went to bed early.

I came home from work & went right to bed after I read paper 9: & the phone woke me up at 2:30 so I got up & hung out cloths & cleaned up & cooked supper.

Rays day off & he went to Boise to meeting & messed around all afternoon with his Tupper Ware.

Jerry worked 11: to 6: & I went & got him then they called & wanted him for 2 hrs so I took him back at 6:30.

Ivard picked berries so after supper we took them up & left for Gail, weren't home then droped Ray & Dean off at mutual & we rode around looking at houses for sale, outside.

Dean worked with Gene today.

Went to bed at 8: till time to go to work.

Ivard didn't work.

Sunday, August 4, 1963

I read paper in bed & worked on puzzle.

Gene went & checked water then Ivard, Jerry_ Gene & Dean went to Priesthood, sunday S. & Fast meeting.  Ivard came home & took Dale & Jackie.  Dean went early to pass fast offerings.

I bottled 11 pts jam for Kay & made 3 pies & cinnamon rolls & had dinner ready when they came at 2:35.

Ray worked 10: to 5: & I took Jerry to work at 5: till close.

Ray took off up to Gails & Ivard & Kids watched T.V.

I washed my hair & crocheted awhile then had a shower & laid down, didn't sleep.

They called up & told us to come to work tonite, our nite off.  I drove, left at 12:, didn't have to be there until 12:30

Ivard didn't work again today.

I came home from work & went right to bed, We have tonite off.

I got up at 1: & Ivard had got up & picked berries, 39 cups.  I made 11 qts jam & 10 pts & put a batch in ice box to do in morning for Kay.

I changed my bed & washed it & 4 other batches.  Dean cleaned my room & Ivard helped him make bed.

Ray worked 9:30 to 6: & Jerry worked 11: to 6:

We ate supper when Kids came and Ivard & I droped Ray off at D.q. to go to Practice with Edith & we went to Nampa Drive Inn & saw "Spencer Mountain" real good & "The Sword" not so hot.  got home at 1: & Ivard had missed out.

Jerry went to Drive in & Boise to eat after with Alice & Mary Kay & never got home until 5:30 A.M.

hot but it sure is chilly in nite I came home & shut window & took hot water Bottle to bed 9:30 to 4:30 then Kids woke me up, I was so tired.

Gene was messing around again today, just had to check water.

Ray worked 10: to 6: & Jerry 5: to close.

Lyle, Barbra & Kids came about 5: till 7:

Ivard got bumped today & didn't work until 11:, on extra board

I took R went & got Ray & stoped & got his Tupper Ware order & he fixed out Barbras stuff for her he was about late for his Party.  Gene took Dale & Jackie up & left at Gails to play.

We ate at 7:30, after Lyle left & Ray for his Party.

I went to bed at 8:30 until time to go to work

Elna brought me home & I went right to bed.

Ray worked at D.q. 10: to 6: & Jerry 5: to close, Gene just had to check water & milk again today.

I got up at 1: & there sat 45 cups black berries Ivard had just picked Dean did bottles & I put 9 cottage tubs full in freezer & bottled 30 qts.  I made a salad & took Dale up to Park at 6: to Primary Picnic.  I was supposed to go but didn't have berries done.  I got through at 7: &  we ate, Dean fixed hot dogs.  I had a shower & went to bed until time to go to work.

Gene & Ray went up to Lyndas & gave a Tupper Ware Party, she was to work but Gail & Sandy had it.  They got home at 11: & I went to work.

Ivard took car up to Dons & left it it wasn't water pump, the thermostat had froze up.  He left it for greese job & I got it when Gene took Ivard to work at 3:30.
