Monday, July 31, 1961

wrote Kay 2 page letter & mailed in with a letter Lyle sent up for him.

Ivard took Jerry & Ray to work.

I changed all the Kids beds & washed them.

I bottled 6 qts of sweet pickles & 11 qts of black berries that Jerry & Dean picked this morning.

Cleaned up house & got cloths in & put away.

I got supper & while Ivard was gone after Jerry Ray & Evelyn & 2 little girls came & we visited. We ate, they ate with us, & Jerry left for Mutual early. Dean did chores & him & Ray went later.

We sat out on lawn & visited & Ray & Evelyn left about dark.

I washed dies, this afternoon too, & we watched T.V. I'm sure tired. Kids made beds when they got home.

I crocheted. Went up & Pd. Place & bills.

We went to Caldwell & drew out savings.

Sunday, July 30, 1961

Ivard & Dean got home. Debbie went home.

Ray did chores & him & Jerry went to Priesthood & sunday school. Ray came home at 11:50 & got Dale, Jackie & Debbie & took them to sunday school.

I stayed home & made 3 blackberry pies & made a meat loaf & got dinner. When Kids got home Jerry took a pied, jam & tomatoes up to missionaries. when he got back Gail, Lynda & Kids, Gene & Marvin Haney were here & we ate dinner.

They went home about 6:

Ray did chores & him, Jerry & Dale went to church. Jackie didn't feel very good so I stayed home with her & watched T.V.

Jerry got called out of audience to talk. They brought Dale home & went to fire side.

Ivard & Dean got home from Sacramento at midnite.

Ivard & Dean went to Sacramento

Ray did chores & went to work.

We got up & ate & at 7:45 Ivard, Dean Dale, Jackie, Debbie & I took Jerry to work early & went to Marshing & met Joe Metcalf, takeing Barbra & Kids & her furniture to California. Ivard & Dean went with them. They left at 9: A.M.

We came home & I washed cloths & did pickles & cleaned up.

Jerry & Ray did up work & chores & we ate and Jerry & Ray went to Stake dance. I went to store this afternoon.

Worked on books & made out payments.

Jackie still doesn't feel too good, her & Debbie slept with me.

I watched T.V. until it went off the air.

Friday, July 28, 1961

Mother sent my new dress she made & a note.

Barbra called, going home in morning.

Jerry got up early & picked berries & Ray did chores & they went to work. I finished iorning, first time this summer.

I made 19 bottles jam & did my pickles & had a shower & at 3: Ivard & I, Dean, Dale & Jackie went to Nyssa to Gail's. I talked to Gene on phone. He went from work over to Haneys to all nite party. We ate supper & all went over to Payette , & Gails car, to his last Town Team ball game, got beat.

We brought Debbie home. Went to Metcalfs & were going to leave Dean to go to Sacramento in morning & help tend Barbras Kids on way but Ivard decided to go too so we came home & they will meet at Marshing in morning. Visited until 10: & came home. They gave us corn & tomatoes.

Thursday, July 27, 1961

Jerry went to work, Ray didn't go until noon so he washed the car.

Dale & Jackie went to primary & Dean painted Dales pine Derby car for tonite, 3 coats, Ivard waxed it.

Ivard stayed in bed half a day.

I iorned all day & still didn't get through. washed some cloths too.

Ivard went after Jerry & I made a sack lunch for each of us & Jerry ate his when he came home. The rest of us took ours & went out to Sunny Ridge school to Cub scout Pack meeting & Pine Derby & ate our lunch. Dales car did pretty good. Jackie fell off merry-go-round & took all the skin off her sholder & got a big bump on her head.

Wednesday, July 26, 1961

Took Jerry to work.

Ray didn't go to work until this afternoon. He took Kids & went over to Kotters awhile she gave them some cucumbers.

I washed & did some berries.

Ivard read out on lawn all day.

I had a shower & went & signed for unemployment. Came right back home.

Ivard went & got Jerry & some tips for his crutches.

I had supper & we ate. watched T.V.

Jerry went to "Promised Valley" in Merridian with Alice & Jepsons.

Ray & Dean went to 2nd ward Mutual at Lakeview Park.

Tuesday, July 25, 1961

Got letter from Kay

Ivard never got up until noon. I got up at 7:00 & crocheted all morning. I took Jerry & Ray to work.

Dean picked some berries & watered.

I sent Dale to store for bread & fixed lunch.

Got a card that Stella had a wreck going home, in hospital at Brigham City.

Dean wrote Kay & we went & mailed it when we went after Jerry. They came after the Mutual pop when we got home & I bought 2 cases.

I had supper ready & we ate & Jerry did business on phone.

Ivard took Dale over Lincoln Park to play ball & he went to meeting at church.

I watched T.V.

Ray & Dean went & got Scout Physical at 9: P.M.

Monday, July 24, 1961

Jerry went to work, Ray didn't.

I dont feel good. I washed a batch of cloths & Ray & Dean cleaned back yard & hauled a load of garbage after they watched parade on T.V. from Salt Lake. Ray ran out of gas out by Mr. Hennis's & he filled his tank for him.

Ivard & I played a game of Scrabble I crocheted.

We made an angle food cake to take to Park & I made jello-cottage cheese salad escalloped corn & a meat loaf to take.

I took Ivard & Dale up at 5: to stay with the Pop when they delivered it then I went & got Jerry from work at 5:30 & at 6:00 I took him up to Park at 6:30 me, Dean, & Jackie went. We ate our supper all together 5th & 2nd Ward. Came home & Jerry & Ray went to Stake Dance.

Ray started to go at 4: to get chairs & tables in Pick-up & the clutch went out on him. Kellogs came & got him.

Sunday, July 23, 1961

Dean was made a Decon by Ivard.

Ray did chores & Ivard, Ray Jerry & Dean went to Priesthood

I read paper & cleaned up.

Dale & Jackie had a bath & Ivard came & took them to sunday school.

Jackie gave 2 1/2 min. Talk.

I cooked dinner & had ready when they got home. I made 2 black berry pies.

I crocheted awhile & Ivard Jackie & I had a nap.

I woke up & read 40 pages of "Book of Mormon."

Fixed my brazzier & had a bath & we all went to Church. Jerry & Ray went early in Pickup. After church Ivard & I went & had a cool & little kids.

Ray & Jerry went to different firesides. Alice brought Jerry home. We watched T.V.

Saturday, July 22, 1961

Dale came home

Jerry & Ray went to work. I changed all the beds and washed 8 batches of cloths. Dean cleaned his room & I cleaned mine.

Jerry got home from work at 1: & him & Dean picked berries. I bottled 23 qts black berries & 2 qts raspberries.

Jerry went to store & I got cloths in & got supper & we ate at 7: Jerry & Dean made beds & Jerry took Ray over to Kotters to go bowling.

At 8: Gail, Lynda & Kids & Gene brought Dale Home.

Gene went with John awhile

They went home at 10:

I was so tired. watched T.V.

I sat out side until 12:30 AM.

Ivard helped Jackie with her 2 1/2 min. talk for tomorrow.

Ivard took Jerry to work

Ray did chores & he went to work

I got books up & Ivard went back to bed.

Dean picked 5 cups berries.

I washed the stocking batch & one other.

Ivard took Dean out to Allens to scout meeting after he went & got his hair cut. I iorned this afternoon.

Ivard & I played a game of Scrabble.

At 7: Ivard & I, Dean & Jackie went up & saw Rodeo Parade.

Came home & ate supper

Watched T.V.

Jerry & Ray went over to Dairy Gueen with Alice Gould, she came & got them.

Jerry picked some berries.

Thursday, July 20, 1961

Ray went back to work after weeks vacation.

Ivard took Jerry to work

Got up late. Jackie went to Primary. I washed 2 batches of overalls. Dean picked 11 cups berries.

I was all day botteling 30 pints blackberry jam.

Ray came home from work & helped get supper.

Ivard went up town this morning & got 100 lbs sugar & I called Ray to come home & bring it in for me.

We ate & Ray did dishes & Dean milked

Jerry picked a few berries. Mr. Garner came & ask him to be new Mutual President.

Kids went to bed after Ray come from takeing Piano lesson.

We watched T.V. & at 10:45 Ivard & I went & had a cool, just as rodeo was getting out.

Watched late show.

got home from Salt Lake

Dean was 12 years old

Train got in at 7: & Ivard was there to meet us. Came home & unpacked and washed 4 batches of cloths

I went up town to Bank, Paid bills, got Deans hair cut and signed up for unemployment. got groc. & Dean a pr of shoes for his birthday.

Came home & Ray had floors scrubbed & dirty house cleaned up.

We had barbacue, potatoe chips punch - icecream for supper.

Dean got sunday schoes & Jerry gave him sunday pants - Ray gave him a 4 ft plastic dinosar.

Jerry, Dean & Ray picked berries.

Kids went to bed & we watched T.V.

Barbra came few min. borrowed play pen.

Tuesday, July 18, 1961

Gail & Gene were over

Dale went home with Gail

never woke up until after Ruth, Ray & Kim had gone to work, I woke up when DeAnn honked for Janice to come & tend Kids.

Jackie was up & ate with Ruth then laid down on front room floor & went to sleep again at 8: when I got up.

Ray never got up until 8:45.

I finished getting diary up and crocheted awhile. I got ready & at 11: Ruth C. came & got me - Ray & Jackie & we left Jackie down to play with Julie & Susie & left Ray over to Marv's & we got Lorraine Sara & Louie & went to Salt Lake to "Harmons" Cafe & they bought my lunch. We sat & visited to Louies awhile then took Sara & Lorraine home & got Ray & went over to Ruths & visited all afternoon, Jackie went Swimming & Ray went back up to Toveys when Sheri went to Bountiful, Ruth took us up at 4:30 & I packed & Ray T. cooked Steak out in Patio & we ate & at 7: they took us to Salt Lake to catch the train for home. it was half hr. late

Stella left for home.

Monday, July 17, 1961

Went to Lagoon

Hot.

Ruth, Ray & Kim went to work & Janice had to tend DeAnn's Kids so she brought them up here today.

We ate breakfast & cleaned up and I crocheted 2 motifs & joined on my scarf. Got my diary up for last week.

Sharon knitted Jackie a pr of doll shoes. Janice made potatoe salad cookies & fried a big pan of chicken for tonite.

We had lunch and Kim got home from work at 1:30 (went at 5:30) & him Ray & Janice went to Salt Lake, Janice had to go to Dr. about her new contact lens's. Ray brought me a pretty new blue dress & Jackie a cute little pony tail doll & stove.

I called Louie & Ruth C. & had a long talk, Syble called me.

Ruth & Kids came at 5:30 & at 6: when DeAnn came & got her Kids, Ruth & I, Kim, Ray, Janice, Sharon & Jackie went to Lagoon & had supper & went on a lot of rides. fun. got home at 9:30 & ate watermellon & went to bed, after dishes.

Sunday, July 16, 1961

Dean graduated from Primary

We all got up late & ate & Ray & I did dishes. Mother don't feel good. I finished reading "Last Days" & crocheted.

Ray went to priesthood & sunday school.

Berniece had us over for dinner & Ray did dishes & I went & packed & had bath & at 3: all of us but Curtis went over to Bountiful to Ruth & Rays they were to church. so we sat out in Patio until they came at 5:15. Ruth fixed lunch & we ate in Patio, had delicious strawberry short cake. We visited awhile and at 10: Berniece & Mother went home.

We stayed to Ruths. We went in house & Kim showed us slides they took up to our place at Kays fare well.

Claudia & Sherm came when Ruth & them came from church & went home about 11: & we went to bed.

Stella came with 2 guys & stayed all nite

Saturday, July 15, 1961

Mother finished her quilt & got it off. We ate & I did dishes & cleaned Mothers house & she went over to Bernieces & cut me out a dress but she got sick & couldn't sew.

Berniece had us all over for dinner & I washed the dishes.

I started to read "The Last Days" by Smith, 265 pages.

Berniece & Ray went to store then we ate & Ray did dishes & Berniece, Kent, Ray & Curtis went to show, drive-in) I read & mother washed her hair bathed & read papers & we had a snack & she went to bed about 10:30. I read until they got home from show at midnite. Kids didn't sleep out. hot today.

I had to scrub Jackie with a brush she was so dirty when I bathed her.

I came sick & I feel awful.

Friday, July 14, 1961

Mother got up early & quilted again & we got up late. We ate & Ray did up dishes. I crocheted most all day.

Berniece had us all over or dinner & I helped do dishes then I went over to Mothers & had a bath & got ready & we all went up to Tooela & Kent, Ray & Curtis went bowling, Berniece took all the Kids to the Park & Mother & I went shopping for me a dress but didn't find one. I was so hot & sweaty. Berniece picked us up at 5:45 & we went home & had supper.

Berniece & Ken went to 70's party. & we watched Kids. Went over & listened to Kent play. Big boys slept on lawn. Mother quilted & I crocheted.

We went to bed about 10:

Mother got up at 5: & quilted. We never woke up until 7:30.

We ate & I helped Ray do dishes.

Mother showed me how to crochet a scarf out of her book & I worked on it all day, piano scarf out of little Motifs 2 3/4 in sq. I cought on pretty good.

Played Scrabble with Kent & Ray.

Berniece got home at 6:

We ate & went over to Bernieces & listened to Kent play piano.

Kids didn't sleep out it got awful black & stormy, didnt storm.

We went to bed about 10: They don't have any T.V. newspapers or radio, sure seems different.

Wednesday, July 12, 1961

We got in Salt Lake at 8: A.M. I called Ruth but she was to work & Ray was only one home so we decided we'd come over to their place the end of the week. We walked up town & carried all our 3 suitcases, blanket & pillow & put them in locker at grey hound bus depot then we ate breakfast in their diningroom & went up the street & went on a 3 hr. 30 mile tour of Salt Lake City on a sight-seeing bus. Got back at noon & went to tabernacle to Organ Recital. Frank W. Asper, played - real good. went & had a malt & got our things & went to catch the 1:15 bus to Grantsville, It never came for an hr. We got off at Bluebird & walked about a mile down to Mothers. I about died, it was so hot. Got there about 3:45. Mother still isn't feeling too tood. Berniece was up canyon with 4-H girls until tomorrow. We ate & Kids played. Mother had a quilt on & she worked on that. Kent, Ray & Curtis slept out on lawn. Ken brought over a pot of iced alfalfa tea & we sat & visited.

Ray is 16 today, hime, Jackie & I went to Utah

I took Jerry to work & got ready & went up to unemployment office for meeting at 8:30.

Ray milked & went to work.

At 11: Jackie & I went to relief society at Yorgensons, I droped her off at Perks & they tended Kids there & we had a barbacue dinner then they brought Kids up & we went swimming, got home at 3:

Ivard watched all star game then went up & got our ticket for Utah. I bottled 5 qts raspberries & packed.

Made sandwiches & had lunch supper & Jerry bought some icecream & cookies. We gave Ray 3 shirts & Jerry gave him a D.C. & Book of Mormon comb. a pen & box choclates. A lady at work made him a cake. We ate when he came home from work & Ivard took Dale to play ball, at 8: he came & took me, Ray & Jackie up to depot & we cought train to Utah at 8:45. We slept pretty good most of way. Ray got a weeks vacation.

Monday, July 10, 1961

Ray did chores & him & Jerry went to work. I changed every bed in the house & washed 6 batches. I iorned all day & did a little patching.

Ivard & Dale went up to R.R. to see about a pass for Ray & I to Utah

Dean was setting water & steped on a board with a nail in and run it through his thong into bottom of his foot.

Ivard, Jackie & Dale went to Dales ball game at 6:30. The first game they've won.

Jerry & Ray went to Mutual after Ray milked. We ate at 8:30 when Ivard got home with Dale.

They ask Jerry to take over the Mutual, Tonks was taken to Blackfoot for treatment.

Ray helped me make all the beds before Mutual.

Ivard & I watched T.V. until it went off the air.

Sunday, July 9, 1961

laid in bed & read paper. Ray did chores & took Jerry up to church at 8: & he & his class, he teaches, went to Jordan Valley to Priesthood & sunday school.

Ivard and Ray went to Priesthood & Ray brought Ivard home & took Kids to sunday school

I put roast on, made no bake cookies & read 71 pages of "Book of Mormon" & washed my hair

I cooked dinner while Ivard, Ray, Dale & Jackie had a nap & we ate when Jerry got home at 4: Dean went to Perrys after sunday school.

Ray took Jerry up to church at 5: to go to 2nd Ward church then to Stake M Men & Gleaner Fireside in Caldwell. Ray did dishes & milked.

We all went to church & Ray went to fireside after at Perry's. watched T.V.

Saturday, July 8, 1961

Lyle left for Calif. Barbra & Kids stayed here.

Jerry & Ray ate & went to work after Ray milked.

I washed cloths & Dean cleaned his bed room & dusted the floor in mine & Jerrys room.

I cleaned front room & Kitchen & when Jerry came home we ate lunch (2:) Jacke ate with Ray when he came home at noon & was asleep.

Jerry & I went to store after we droped Dean, Dale & Jackie off at show. Jerry paid their way & game them each a dime. We got groc. & came home & Jerry picked reaspberries & I played Scrabble with Ivard. Ivard went & got Kids at 6:30 & I made barbacue & fix supper.

We ate & Ray did chores

Jerry went to Stake dance. He was one of Hosts.

Dale threw his bat, while practicing & gave Dean a nose bleed.

We watched T.V. Gene didn't come home.

Friday, July 7, 1961

Jerry got up & finished picking berries & Ray milked & I made their lunch & made waffles for breakfast. We played Penochle all day. Dean fixed us soup for lunch.

At 4:30 Lyle & Barbra took all the Kids up to Park Swimming. Ivard went to bed, his foot is swelled up, and I bottled 6 qts raspberries.

Cows got out & Ivard got up & helped me get them in.

Lyle came back & got their stuff & took Kids over to Metcalfs & left Stanley here & picked him up at midnite when they came from Show in Boise. They stoped in at 8:30 to see if we wanted to go but we didn't.

I got supper & Ivard took Dale to ball practice.

Watched T.V. Ray walked over to Garners awhile.

got letter from Claudia

Cooler. Ray milked & took Jerry to work & himself.

Dean fixed breakfast.

My back itches, like crazy. I got up late.

Kids got ready for Primary & Mrs. Chaney came & got them at 9:30.

Joe Metcalf came about 9: & visited with Ivard until 11: Ivard went after Kids.

I got books up & washed 3 batches and iorned all afternoon.

Lyle, Barbra & Kids came about 4: & we played Scrabble & penochle.

I cooked supper & we ate and Jerry picked berries.

Ivard & Lyle took Dale to ball practice.

Ray went & took piano lesson

We played Penochle until 1: A.M. Kids went to bed about 10:.

Wednesday, July 5, 1961

My sun burned back in driveing me crazy. I got up late. Ivard got up & took Jerry to work & Ray went in Pick-up when he got chores done.

Ivard got ready & iorned him a shirt & at 11: he went to Dr.

Me & Kids played Scrabble, that all I did all day.

It really rained for 5 hrs in nite & hard for an hr. this morning.

I fixed lunch & at 1:30 Dale left on his bike for Yorgensons to Cub Scout meeting, they swam in their new pool. Ivard & I played Scrabble & left it at 2:30 & he took me to sign up unemployment & pay water had a cool & came home & finished game.

At 6: Ivard & Dale went to Kurtz Park & Dale played ball, got beat. I droped them off when I went after Jerry. got them at 7: Jerry got supper. Ray went for Piano lesson & Ray milked. Mrs. Pinster wasn't home.

Tuesday, July 4, 1961

Jerry & Ray didn't have to work today, Ray went up to feed turtle, bird & stuff for few min.

Jerry cleaned his room & washed 2 or 3 batches & picked rest of berries. I bottled 10 qts but one broke. Ray made a cake & I made a big kettle of macaroni salad & Jerry made barbacue & big kettle of punch & we ate out side about 5: I fixed a late breakfast, everyone slept in.

The Bishop called & Jerry went out to Kings to see about bookkeeping job, they'll let him know. I cleaned up house while he was gone.

Ivard & I - Dean, Dale & Jackie went to Caldwell Park at 8: P.:M. to see fire works. rained us out when they were about over. Got home about 10:30 & watched T.V. after Kids went to bed.

Monday, July 3, 1961

Lyle went back to Metcalfs.

Dean milked & I took Jerry to work. Ray was sick - besides he didn't have to go to work until 4:30.

I made waffles & we ate breakfast and Lyle, Barbra & boys went back over to Metcalf's.

Cloudy all day - windy - rained in spots

At 11: after I washed a batch, Ivard, Dale, Jackie & I went to bank, paid bills and went to Caldwell & had Int. drawn up on all our bank accounts. Had hamberger, fries & root beer came home & Ivard & I played Scrabble. Ray went to work after we all had a nap. Ray picked 5 cups berries.

Ivard took Dale to ball practice & we ate. Ray did chores & him & Jerry went to show. Ray was supposed to play ball but it was too wet at Melba.

Ivard & Kids watched T.V. & I got my books up.

Ray picked some berries.

Sunday, July 2, 1961

My sun burned back hurts so bad I didn't go to church. Fast Day but Ray took Barbra to store & got mush & she fed little Kids.

Ivard - Lyle - Jerry & Ray went to Priesthood then Lyle came home & took Barbra & all the Kids to sunday school. Ivard - Barbra & Dale & Jackie & Lyles Kids came home after sunday school & rest of them stayed to fast meeting. I had dinner ready when they got home at 2:45., Ivard & Barbra went to store for potatoes. Gail - Lynda & Kids & Gene came just before Jerry - them came from fast meeting. We ate on lawn & Barbra & Lynda did dishes & Jerry went to see a girl.

The rest of us went to Kurtz Park & they played ball & badminton & Ivard & I played Scrabble - Came home at 8: & Ray milked & Gail & Gene went home. No church tonite.

Lyle stayed all nite.

Saturday, July 1, 1961

Lyle, Barbra came & stayed all nite.

I can hardly stand my sun burned back.

I took Jerry to work & Ray went in pick-up after he finished chores.

I put things away - from trip - and washed up the cloths.

Jerry came home at 1: and picked the raspberries and I bottled 14 qts. Jerry went to store & got groc. for me, I felt too bad.

Lyle, Barbra & boys came about 4:, Lyle got here from California this morning.

I made meat pie with biscuits on for supper & Jerry bought icecream.

Lyle cut all his Kids hair & Deans.

We ate & got to bed pretty early. Lyle stayed. Ivard & I watched T.V. "Hawaian Eye." Jerry went away for awhile.

Gene didn't come home.
