Went to Carlsbad Caverns
cloudy - windy -stormy - Tornado
Got up & got ready & went over to Jones's at 9: & had breakfast & she fixed lunch & at 10: AM we left for Carlsbad N.M. to see Caverns, 132 miles. We met Gene & Cheryl at Arkinsaw Junction & they parked car & went with us. We got to Caves at 12:30 & had cold drink & at 1: we took a guided tour of Caverns. started with 80 & ended up with 151 people. We walked 3 miles down through earth & got down to 860 ft below ground. Took us about 4 hrs. stoped at underground lunch room at 700 ft & had our lunch. it was fantastic rooms big enough to set nations Capitol way under ground & all the beautiful formations. Came out on elevator. wrote cards when we came out & left for home at 5: stoped at White City & had drink - real stormy Got to Tatum at 8: & they met us & told us to get to school a tornado was comeing hit 4 miles from town.
